Not starting him next game could be a mistake. They're not going to sit back this time. Whelan reading of the game is going to be very valuable. He's way better at defending space being left open by our other players then Hourihane.
I agree, id start whelan at the hawthorns, we will be under the pressure from the off, i think the game will suit whelan imo

He's been alright against poor teams.
He's out of his depth against semi decent opposition. Throw a half decent player with some pace like Gayle against him and he will be exposed. It was actually sad looking at him today, it's not his fault, it's Smiths fault or picking him, Whelan is just way too slow.
If he struggles like that against Gayle, what do you think Premier League players would do to him?
Alongwith Hutton, Whelan is one of the first players i would be looking to get rid of.
Apart from that mistake he was as good as anyone on the pitch today. You could argue the whole team struggled today against a decent opposition.
-
He has been an outstanding performer in our recent run, one mistake today doesnt change that. To easy to point the finger at unfashionable glen, yes it was a mistake, but hes been absolutely excellent of late

Probably the only player in the first half who looked capable of doing anything for us, beat his fullback plenty of times
Agree, we were so one sided

Derby done a usual derby and looked at pathetic as i expected.

Doesnt do it for me whatsoever, think we look a far better team with whelan in the side, grealish and mcginn look far better when they have a whelan labouring for them. Hourihane just doesnt do enough physically

When you have a £7m international keeper waiting it out you can have one of those mistakes. Another one, and he is out.
That's competition for you.
Positioning was all wrong for goal

Don't know if this will help but what I've done previously is apply for a 12 or 24 month interest free credit card and pay for it on that then pay off over monthly installments that I can afford. That way I don't pay the interest that Zebra or other finance companies charge.
Yea i have thought about doing that thanks, i used to pay off in 1 go, but 500 quid is alot more money when you have a family, The 0% by zebra was fantastic, lets hope they find another supplier.
-
I think this is really going to knock sales, i haven't renewed mine yet, i was planning to this weekend using zebra, i just havent got the money to pay it in one go and im sure plenty others are in same boat. Could be my first year without a season ticket in 24 years.

Surely they'd be better off selling him if that's the case.
man utd usually put 1 year trigger clauses in players contracts that they can automatically activate when a players deal is coming to an end

A caveat to that was; we've had a bid of £25m accepted by Chelsea for Tammy Abraham. However, Tammy wants assurances about who we will be signing before he accepts the offer. We've apparently given him 4 weeks to decide.
Same bloke gave me a £10 note featuring a fully erect jeremy corbyn hovering over a bemused jane austin

All Smiths talk about "He has a long term contract and a big future at Aston Villa" in the post match interview sounded very defiant.
Captaincy is also probably a psychological play.
Exactly what i said today. Great decision by smith imo
