  1. This is like discussing which are better, apples or pears ... it's pears btw.
  2. My copy just dropped through the letter box a day early!! I know what I'm doing when I finish work.
  3. spacehead360 looking forward to fifa12 games with anyone, although I'm really bad. Not played footy games for years.
  4. Downloaded season pass and now have full access to game until release next week. Never was a huge fan of FIFA, preferring PES in the past. Not this time. The game is more challenging and realistic and I love the support your team feature where your experience points gained go towards the AVFC score. Highly recommended. If anyone wants a game sometime my gamertag is spacehead360
  5. Have been thinking about AMs imminent appointment and spoken with my 2 lads tonight. Having started to get used to the idea (we have to), I'm going to renew our 3 STs. Decided that we need to keep supporting the team and to hit the board in the pocket will hurt the club and its potential investment in strengthening the side. Logically, Lerner will need to arm AM with a decent transfer kitty to give him every chance of success otherwise the backlash will be immense if he has a bad start to the season. I've met AM and he's a decent guy. I hope fans judge him on his management now and refrain from the personal insults which he certainly does not deserve.
  6. General This was your first ever post on the site almost 5 years ago: Do you still stand by these words General because actions speak louder than them?
  7. Aside from the emotional reactions you are getting from everywhere, please consider the commercial implications of this move. As businesspeople, surely you must understand that this will set Randy's investment back years? Loss of season ticket sales, low attendances, reduced sponsors, low merchandise sales not to mention player unrest (what player wants to play at a club with such fan unrest). For the sake of all of this, please find a way of extracting yourselves from this awful situation.
  8. I think the mere fact they have publicised his candidacy means he's pretty much nailed on. Why issue that statement and then say, we interviewed him and didn't appoint him?
  9. Well, if they are going to appoint him, they'll need to back him with transfer cash to give him every chance of success, otherwise there will be thousands upon thousands of "I told you so's" if it all goes pear shaped.
  10. I've been looking at the fb protest page and I have to say, we have our fair share of clearing in the woods as fans. Some of the personal hatred against McLeish is totally uncalled for. By all means let's criticise his football style and managerial capabilities but we shouldn't get personal. I met the guy at a function a couple of years back - in fact it was all four W Mids managers and I have to say, he was the nicest most approachable guy you could meet. When all this blows over, and if he isn't the man selected to be our manager, I hope some people look back on their comments over the last couple of days and realise how much they've overstepped the mark. I personally don't want him as our manager but that is my judgement on his professional skills and no reflection on him.
  11. Just wondering why potential managers and Villa staff choose to meet at Villa Park, the place most certainly garanteed to generate wast amounts of twits and e-mails... If this were true I would be VERY surprised. If they do meet, it will be somewhere out of the media gaze. VP is too much of a public place.
  12. yep chelsea have just released more or less the same statement as the general did last week, will take their time will be a couple of weeks etc where are their yellow bar mishaps? where is their week straight talksport phone in? there isnt one, why? because their fans arent biting all our lot are doing are feeding the flames, the only potential silver lining to this mccleish story is that they cant top it, when this gets denied or dies down they wont out do it The Chelsea situation is different. They have a well known plan to get Hiddink and the delay is all down to negotiating with the Turkish FA. We appear not to have a plan. A wall of silence from the club is fine by me but when you do that, good PR dictates that you have off the record conversations with trusted journos, to ensure that the message is managed appropriately rather than the free for all that we have here.
  13. Sorry, don't know how to do links but if you go to the new manager thread on vitalvilla between pages 46-50 you'll see how it panned out for real. Richard is the name of a poster on the site who is also a facebook friend on the "Chuck Krulak" fb page. If you check out his friends list, there is indeed a richard with a surname similar to the posters user name. Whether you choose to believe it or not is up to you. If it's a fake I doff my hat to whoever wrote it cos it's a bloody good'un.
  14. Whilst this is true. How anyone can not be alarmed by the Generals comments on the situation is beyond me. His fluff is full of holes and without any redeeming factors Shit has hit the fan because for the first time the guard has been let down. Some people are posting on here sating we're stupid for paying attention to the press. It's not the press that's got us going mental, it's the generals white flag on a facebook page that is almost confirmed as 95%+ him and not a wind up. He does not have a facebook page! Erm actually he does and it is genuine. I saw the post last night and it was confirmed by respected people that it was real.
  15. I actually like other fans on our board. It keeps us straight and stops the less intelligent from deluding themselves. From what I've read, the contributions of most of the Everton posters on here have been more insightful than some of the crap that our own fans spout.
  16. ... well I want it. Can I be assistant? I'll have that job no problem and I'll work for free. I like the working for free offer. Can you make a good cup of tea? Actually I can, I'm a firm believer in not putting in the milk until the tea is properly brewed as not to make the water go cold before its time. I'm also obviously a believer in the tea bag being allowed some time to brew properly which seems to be overlooked by so many! If I get the call... you're my man of choice... please don't leave me with GMac. If all you two are bothered about is the quality of the tea then I'm coming in as Director of Football to make sure you do some bloody work!
  17. I actually like other fans posting on each others sites - gives us a different perspective. FWIW I've never bought into the Moyles story and so I've been laying Moyes all the way down on Betfair. If it is him though, the kids aren't eating for a month!
  18. According to Moxley, McLeish went on holiday on Friday. Didn't Lerner's plane travel there Thursday?

  20. Sir I completely understand and respect the fact that the club chooses to conduct its business in private and not through the media. Indeed, it has been the source of much pride that on more than one occasion, clubs have complimented the board on the professionalism and integrity of its dealings with them. However, I do think when this manager search is concluded, hopefully in a positive way for all interested parties, the club reviews its whole PR approach. I am not suggesting that the club changes the way it conducts business but I do think we are missing a trick with our management of the media. I cannot recall a time when ANY club has had so much negativity aimed at it. I do not subscribe to the view that they are reacting to a wall of silence; it is not as simple as that. Nor do I believe that the media is being deliberately vindictive. But as a key stakeholder, it is the job of our PR people to manage communications between the press and the club. At the moment this looks like it is falling short by some way which is causing untold reputational damage to our brand. Thanks for continuing to post General, even in these uncertain times.
  21. Good post and i tend to agree, i too don't think there is any mileage in Moyes coming to us, for a slightly different reason. I don't think Moyes has done anything special for Everton, for us to be falling over ourselves to get him.....We are similar clubs in status and on the basis of what Moyes has done we will have 9 years of much the same. However,I think Moyes and Villa would be a match well suited and I think Everton as a club need a Fresh Face.....someone like Owen Coyle, maybe a good move all round, or even Owen Coyle to us...... but i think we all need freshening up. I'm not being disrespectful to him or Everton, but I think 9 years doing what he has done is time up and time for a fresh challenge......He is not going to get one of the really big jobs, in the same vein as Martin O'Neill hasn't, because they havn't proved to be quite good enough. albeit, both decent managers. I don't know who we will end up with, but I'm sure it won't be anyone who will set the heart strings racing.....It will be oh well, off we go again. Coyle to Everton is something i'd certainly be interested in. Though i'd like to see how he progresses, alot has been said about Coyle getting Bolton playing attractive football (which they did for three games in January) but on the whole their culture of thuggish and longball football remains. Personally I think for Everton Grant Holt is a logical manager to look at next. I fully agree with the comment on not understanding why Villa would be falling over themselves to get Moyes. If the club wants to progress then I dont see Moyes being that man. if the club wants to consolidate itself then i think there is no better man for you. However I would imagine that consolidation isn't really what you're looking for. Alot of people have said that Moyes wont get one of the top jobs in the country at the moment, which i agree with. For my money Moyes should, and i think will, go to Germany next. test himself there then come bac to manage an English CL club. Good posts mate. Whilst I do think Moyes is a good manager, I don't think the villa job is different enough for him to break a 9 year association with Everton. Interested in your view as an outsider though, who would you think would be a good appointment for villa. We can't seem to agree here!
  22. actually it looks like Schteve is going there. Would we prefer Schteve to McLeish now?
  23. Let's think about this. Hughes resigned from Fulham and the board was apparently unimpressed. So what's different here? Can't believe for a second in the wake of the McLaren uproar last week that the board would be that daft. What have they done previously to make us worry that they would appoint McLeish?
