Yes but to be completely honest if the midfield is as down to the bare bones as some people are saying (Bannan and Clark out too), then really anything short of a 4-0 drubbing will be a decent result Rumour has it midfield will be Pires Hogg, Herd, Downing seriously? so that would be our 7 and 8th choice centre midfielders?

feel sorry for the youngsters, gabby and ash. they tried hard and made things happen. we dominated possession, looked more dangerous. blues to be fair were very good at getting out quick and blocking shots. however, the defence are terrible. without the protection of petrov and milner infornt of them, and without carlos there covering up their mistakes they are being shown up for what they really are: just a load of cloggers- slow, clumsy and technically awful. they cant make a simple 10 yard pass most of the time. to think how much money was spent on them! id replace all of them, and that includes brad. communication was shocking in the first half between keeper and back 4. i also thought given he got a hand there brad could have swept it wide, but he totally whiffed on it.

thank god for gabby, look ok going forward but my god we are shit at the back. dunne and collins are making their play last season look like a one off- they have reverted to what a lot of people thought they were like when we signed them- slow, clumsy, error prone etc. i got a theory that cuellar covered for a lot of their mistakes when he was at right back last season, there was certainly many times when carlos was there with a great covering tackle or clearence off the line. luke young and warnock aren't much better- no ability on the ball, out of position and clumsy tackles. if they keep playing like this none of them will be here next season

gonna be tough obviously game hinges on the midfield imo. i dont think blues have amazing players there, but we are going probably going to be playing clark, bannan and hogg! although these are 3 talented kids, how will they cope starting a cup quarter final away at the sty? id be more confident if we had at least one 1st choice CM in there. hopefully they can put in performances like against man u. need gabby to be back to his blues beating best as well!

so called senior players let us down again defence is terrible- slow and full of cloggers. they are positionally poor and give it away too often. we have no technical ability back there. downing and ash make wrong decisions all the time- hold onto the ball when they need to move it on, and when they need to hold it they bang in an aimless cross carew is finished, i cant tell whether his legs have gone or he just cant be arsed, but he was dire. clark and bannan were'nt brilliant, but at least they try and seem to have a bit of fight.
