Brighton and Brentford scouting Betis winger Assane Diao Wonder if we are too? Certanly been a cheaper option compared to Nico Williams (€20m difference in release clause) although at 18 with only 1 season in La Liga he'd be more of a project than the finished article. From the times I watched Betis this season he's looked really interesting even thou some of it has been sub appearances.

Unless we are selling someone really surprising wingers and attacking midfielders / nunber 10s should be the last of our worries. Fullback and a younger centrehalf and another DM in my opinion.BUT my opinion counts for eff all.  Watch us buy 4 wingers now and win the league !

You can rest easy when you're owned by a very successful businessman who knows how to turn a profit and has already built a successful sports franchise. He wouldn't have bought us unless he knew he could get a return on his investment, and that could only happen if Aston Villa were doing well on the pitch. Champions League at a minimum. Tony Xia to NSWE is almost as big of a leap as Gerrard to Unai. Man we got lucky, we were right on the brink there.

They move in circles that are really scary.  Biden visiting Wes on his election push. Sawaris dealing with the Man City owner directly rather than his directors when we sold Grealish. I would say that it is an equally big leap.

I think so, as it stands only Newcastle have the slightest chance if scores remain the same.

Shame all the english teams screwed the codfficient up. We could have downed tools and concentrated on Europe 😂😂

Some of the comments on here are just corporate bashing - not liking what Heck stands for. But successful companies need people in that role - business can be hard.
He might be a **** but he's our ****, and we need him to add £10m's to the bottom line or we're reliant on Chelsea and Man U getting it wrong every season just to compete.

I think we all love our owners. They've chosen him to do this role.

He is the Emi Martinez of business !!!! Wind everyone up but does the job he gets paid handsomely to do at the end of the day.

  5. I can see now why it only works with those clubs below the elite. We were terrible. Emery started in depth video analysis.  Then we were brilliant. That gives buy in to the level of detail . And when new players come in they see how the current players are listening and buy in as well. These players of ours are on the whole playing the best football of their whole careers. They would never get bored of that.

Imagine him going in at Bayern. Or Manure. Too many egos and relationships between the media and the players. More leaks than one of my plumbing jobs.

Knowing what we know now, it would be interesting to go back and watch the Middlesbrough games and see how he played. See what Emery & Monchi saw that the fans could not. It's mad that someone can be completely hidden in plain sight like that. Even from other Premier League teams. Not just Eddie Punchclock on the terrace.

Well he didn't stand out particularly against us in the FA Cup. But we doubled down anyway and ended up getting him  . Theres some decent vids on youtube that shows his Boro highlights. You csn see he has talent , but also he is really inconsistent and loses the ball too much. I guess thats why Emery is who he is . He can see a player and know exactly how he will fit in and flourish.

I find it more baffling that when he left Man City, no-one in the Premier League took him and he had to go down to Boro. And even when we bought him, Boro fans were wondering why. They were delighted with the money. The miracle work of Emery.

They looked at the underwhelming loans, being unable to influence games and the lack of output in goals and assists.  Unai looked at something else..How he could fit into our system. They saw him when they got the opposition scouting report. And i guess Unai fell in love immediately.

  8. God. Stupid Americans eh... unable to articulate a single sentence and not knowing what is going on outside of their own country. ....

Btw.  Genius idea to connect vegas and LA by rail.  90 percent of those 50 million trips a year would be done hungover. Now u just jump on a train.

Kid is an absolute unit. To be that skilled as well is almost unfair. Comical that Bournemouth thought Smith could mark him 1v1.

Its that mix of power vision and technical ability that makes him such a threat.

So this new contract wasnt really a new contract, it was the triggering of the 1 optional year that was part of the agreement when Emery joined.

I would guess that they both have to agree to the extension, though, so all good i guess.

Would be nice to see a new long term contract in the summer!

I think that its been done to avoid any doubt about his future. We approached and he agreed with a view to talking again in the summer.  The club or Unai don't want anything to distract  over the next month. Its potentially the 2nd biggest month in our modern history.

Really? No kenneth Williams GIFs from anyone?

I think Morgan Rogers Cam is enough Villa related innuendo for one day

It might sound so blindingly obvious....but at some point, potential has to be proved.

Its fine, folk saying this player will be this, and that player will be that.....but the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

The amount of times, I thought, this or that player, would make it....and they didn't.....some did obviously.

It's still too soon, to say will Aaron make it or not....but at some stage, he has to prove it.

I have always thought, the first team, is the only place for potential to be born....Morgan has been lucky, to get his chance, and he has proved he can do it....I don't see any going back for this boy.

I think JJ was lucky to to get his chance, and he too, took it.

It's make or break, to get those chances, and luck plays a part too.

I think Morgan has more physicality, to ride the challenges and resist the bullies.....its hard to find the spaces to showcase your talent, with muggers around your neck...Morgan seems to have the necessary frame and feet to do that.

I too was very hopeful of Aaron, but injuries, have derailed his progress.....we will see if he manages to fulfil his promise......I think Morgan is well on his way now.

Morgan has McGinn strength in a longer frame. Which is a pretty scary proposition for opponents. Thats why in the Pitchside cam you can see Bournemouth resorting to rugby tackling him to stop him.  He has had 3 years out on loan and at Boro. Now he is in an elite set up again i expect him to get far stronger working at BMH.

I look at Rogers and think is this what Aaron Ramsey should have been? Or could be? I know why we sold him, but could he have flourished in the same role? He was more effective than Rogers at Boro by far.

Not knocking Rogers at all, he's been wonderful.

He is 5 inches taller probably 3 stone heavier and is a far stronger runner on the ball. Aaron is a very good footballer. So is Philogene. But for the left hand side / number 10 Emery has specific requirements.

I love this kid.  Proper football brain.

If Archer comes back next season they need to think of a different title for the videos as well....

We were trying for top 4 under MON. And he averaged around 15/16  wins a season. Emery gets around 23. Crazy mate.

  16. Ollie is on track to achieve his ambitions with Villa. Even if we downed tools now we would still end up in the Europa League. Which is another step up the ladder. He is doing so well because of us, not despite us. He has just watched the manager responsible for his improvement commit until the summer of 2027. There is nothing to worry about.
