  1. He can be extremely wasteful in possession when he tries to barrel through a tackle and passes badly but thats the nature of the beast. He is like Buendia in that regard. The trade off is worth it though big time. You get a player who takes up brilliant positions in attacking areas, has finesse in abundance, and can finish with both feet with power and accuracy. You then add the breaking the lines passing and rrunning and you get a kid with a huge future for us. He isnt for everyone though but perfect for us and our system.

The problem we have is, Emi is more than a goalkeeper, he's the 12th Man.

We are relying on him, too much and he is central to everything we do.

He wallows in the involvement and the action, but when he is out, we look vulnerable.

I think Emi has saved us, when he shouldn't have had too, and we have come to expect it. We would have conceded far more without him, but it has masked over our defensive flaws.

I am not sure, how much of a climb down Olsen is.....or is he is just not protected enough?

Many times I have watched games and thought, without Emi, we would have lost, and we have actually won......I am not sure, how much that registers with some or is it just taken for granted?

Him and Ollie are our 2 matchwinners. The 2 most important players. One saves goals  the other scores goals. Emi has a post shot xg minus goals...ie who has stopped the most goals being scored of +6.8 .  The best in the league.

Ollie has 19 non penalty goals from a 15.4 xg. . Again up there with the best in the league..

Emi 100% is vital to us. Not only for how we play, but the fact he gets us out of the siht time after time. He is an extraordinary goalkeeper .

  3. The expectation of Olympiakos fans might be our only hope. They will be expecting a procession. Early goal changes things , but i dont expect that to happen. Lille Legia were both hostile atmospheres and we folded pretty much. We need to do something completely different thats for sure. Our style just doesnt work against a high press when we get rattled.

  4. Olsens biggest problem is that he doesnt seem very explosive. Emi would have gobbled up their 2nd goal. Its like .. Tiiiimmmbbbeeerrrr when Olsen spreads himself. A very reactive goalkeeper whereaa Emi is proactive. Anyway its done now, or is it. Let us pray Emi is going to be Ok.

Their pairing doesn't work, the McGinn-Tielemans pairing does. Tielemans-Luiz wasn't so hot either, but we did okay with it (draw at West Ham, win over Wolves at home).

The key is probably that Tielemans isn't there to provide defensive stability in midfield, and neither McGinn nor Luiz can do that job worth a shit.

I think that Tielemans is very vocal. And he can manage McGinn through a game. They seem suited.  But Luiz is just a total loss of form at a key point.

  6. Back to the bad old days under Gerrard when he played with Luiz. Simply doesnt work.  Its like Gerrard and Lampard all over again.

  7. He cares for the Villa. He will be hurting big time about the 2 pens . A terrible performance but one that needs to be pushed to the back of our mind. We need him. Big time.

  8. FUBAR   everything that could go wrong did go wrong. We needed Emi. He **** up getting booked.  Pau being obviously unfit. Playing Lenglet instead of Carlos.  Tielemans being injured. Luiz conceding and missing a pen and having his worst game for the Villa.. Olsen letting another 4 in.

But i put this on Unai. He misjudged them. And their manager did his homework  . Went for it knowing we cannot cope with the press most of the time, and even with our calm good passers like Tielemans and Kamara injured and Emi not available,  persisted with the aame tactic. Slow slow and try to play through the middle.

We were at home. Should have gone for it. In reality they went for it and got their rewards. So pissed off its untrue.

If you are serious and not taking the piss sorry to burst your punditry bubble but Chambers isn’t on the f******g bench , I don’t think he’s even registered in the squad but you know best.

    Ah

     Right

Sorry.  So we have zero options other than Tim. Explains it then

  10. Thank **** there was no pen. Dougie would have missed it.  This is a Gerrard performing midfield. Luiz and McGinn just cannot play together. Honestly get Chambers on put Diaby on the left , and mcginn on the right with Bailey up front.. totally free Mcginn up

Them and their fans are sucking the life out of the stadium and our team 🤯

They deserve it as well. Emery has been absolutely done over by their tactics.  And its not like its difficult to see. They are playing like Lille Newcastle Spurs Chelsea . And we never ever cope with it.

What type of midfielder is he? or hasn't he determined that yet?

A bloody good one but not an attacking one for once

According to the Guardian, they've called in insolvency advisors.

No sympathy at all for them and they need to be punished properly. They spent a fortune and failed. Didn't hear their fans complaining when they hired Ancelotti and signed Rodriguez on a massive salary as well as spending hundreds of millions on players that failed.

Not looking too good for them. 777  seem like they are a busted flush

777 are already 200 mill into Everton. But no nearer buying them. If they get turned down which looks likely then 777 will be trying to retrieve that money. Plus another local consortium have lent 160 mill for the stadium and have a 50% charge over Moshiri for that.  Total nightmare . Be like piranhas tearing at any flesh left  .

Moshiri might well lose an insane amount of money when all this is put to bed.
