  1. Archers positional play has been brilliant. He’s a natural finisher too
  2. Shame we took off Bertie, hopefully in readiness for Saturday
  3. That can be changed, at least vision and guile are his instinctive traits.
  4. I think with Ings, Watkins and Bailey he will prosper, he just needs games. Very disrupted start so far for everyone
  5. Caleb will replace archer and you will see fireworks, you wait
  6. Decent account of ourselves. On paper they are stronger, they have home advantage, but we settled and now look the better team. Now watch us lose.
  7. Matured since last season, more purpose, better decisions, less show boating
  8. Bailey and Watkins or Ings in this side and we are ahead here
  9. Bidace will come on for AEG at some stage. I think Sanson is still acclimatising to the PL pace
  10. Think I’d prefer McGinn, Ramsey and Sanson, now that’s a handful
  11. I’m seemingly about 4minutes behind everyone else. If there’s a goal please don’t say anything
  12. We are in this but a bit rusty and unfamiliar. If Archers touch had been slightly better we could be 1-0 up
  13. I know he’s being managed, but we need to play him, he a starter. The thought of him, the guile and industry of Buendia coupled with Watkins and Ings is sensational. As long as they get through the pressing and defensive side of things there is no reason to think we can’t play all of them on most occasions.
  14. Maybe @villalad21 was right, maybe 4-3-3 was the right decision? I personally didn’t think the 3-5-2 worked today like it did against Chelsea: Ramsey, Watkins and McGinn were red hot then, not tonight, and again, Ings was peripheral - we didn’t buy him to assist goals from our own half? I bigged up Smith big time last week, but today I reckon he made a few wrong calls, and the benched players made the difference. this is not an anti Smith post. I just think Benitez got it right for the most part and Smith wasn’t brave enough, I hope he realises what talent we have and has the balls to play to our strengths. I note Neil on For the love of Paul McGrath suggested the league has turned to favour those who attack, maybe he’s right and maybe we now have the talent to exploit that? Today suggested that was the case.
  15. Far from anti-Smith, but with a depleted team, Benitez nullified Watkins and Ings, our most potent players. That was never Smiths plan. He never got them into the game. But a great individual goal from Cash set us on our way. If he was braver, he would have started Bailey?
  16. Great result, and we haven’t really got started yet. However, I felt just as last weeks 3-0 loss was a credit to Smith, I feel our 3-0 win was despite Smith today. Didn’t quite work, Watkins and Ings never in it and that was never the plan surely? Individual brilliance at work today, but that’s why we spent the money. We feel so much better for our additions, haven’t played our strongest side yet. Wither Grealish….
