Fair point about Sheffield Utd but I’ve already included the other swings in GD (by one for a win) for the other assumed results.

Well if they draw with Chelsea, Liverpool and City game and beat Burnley by 2 goals. We win against Brighton and lose to Liverpool. They'll be 3 goals behind and 2 points behind.

So if we draw they need to win by 3 or 4 depending on goals scored.

Same as above except they lose to Liverpool let's say. If we lose to Palace and they beat Sheffield.

Lots of permutations. I just worry a bit about them turning up for a big performance against City in the middle game.

We just need to keep picking up points in the final games. We land a win and we should be good for 4th.

If we beat Brighton, even just one draw for Spurs against Chelsea would leave them not only needing to gain 9 points in 2 games but also having to overturn a GD of at least 6 (assuming a one-goal winning margin in each of the assumed results) or more likely 7 with our GF. So they'd have to beat Sheffield Utd, City, and Burnley by 2 goals each on average.

Goal difference is easy for them to overcome with Sheffield United to play. Most teams hitting 4 or 5 on them. Plus 6 goal difference will be less if it ends up going to level as we'd have lost and Spurs won games.

I think there's a few turns left tbh and can see it going to last game us needing a point or something along them lines. What ever happens we have done exceptionally well given the small squad and the injuries we have had.

Yes, totally agree. If we can get 4th or win Conference League or both. It'll have been a season beyond expectations. Like we're nearly at 70 points which is a monumental effort given how bad our injuries have been.

Spurs will be beat Chelsea, Chelsea were good against us but we was hopeless tbh, we couldn't string two passes together and was all over the place at the back and wasteful up front.

    We need 6 points.

Chelsea have lost only once at home in PL since November. While this is their derby game and a midweek evening game. I think Chelsea will be hugely up for this.

Chelsea have only lost once (when Palmer was out) in their last 10 PL games

That would mean spurs losing 4 league games in a row. I don’t think that will happen. In fact it would not surprise me if they got 4pts from those games. They were actually pretty good yesterday. Hopefully we’ve got enough to drag ourselves over the line.

Yeah I think Spurs will get a draw from one or both games possibly. As long as our result against Brighton is better than their combined result then we should have done enough to secure 4th

could be all over if we beat brighton and spurs don't win mid week, they would be 9/10 points behind when their weekend kick off happens

Yeah, Chelsea need the win to have any hope of European football next season. Also they will be fired up at home to Spurs.

I feel we just need a big performance against Brighton. Go into that as fired up as we can be. We are better away from home at the moment than at home where the team feel pressure.

  7. We need to just get focussed and put everything into the Brighton game. They're not in great form and have nothing to play for. We need to want it more and go out and win it.

Chelsea have been relatively decent at home since November and they absolutely hate Spurs so should be really up for that game and needing to qualify for Europa League of they can.

Burnley aren't relegated yet either so their game against Spurs will be tough

Our most impressive midfielder of our little mini run went off injured in the first half. Our goalkeeper,  the world no. 1 in his position, went off at half time. We have guaranteed, mathematically with three games to go, 5th place for the first time since 1997.

    Maybe have some perspective?

We don't make excuses. We'd have taken 4 from the last two games. We'll just go beat Brighton now.

  9. Drawn konds keeps us about the same odds for top 4. A lot rides on tomorrow. I think it goes to final day. They've got Sheffield United so not even goal difference can keep us ahead with a game to play.

Was a bad performance tonight. Was a typical Villa have an important game night where we bottle it. We still have managed to recover each time.

    Brighton next. Let's win that

I think if we beat Brighton or Liverpool it will be wrapped up before palace yes. And I think there’s a good chance we win one of those games.

I’ve expressed this opinion many, many times.

As usual you are settling on the absolute worst case scenario. Just like you did when you assured us all that finishing 6th was a certainty.

    How did that go?

I think you must don't bother reading the wider forum. You're just a sheep poster. Background noise, nothing worthwhile to say. Just kind of like .....

Literally not true, but wouldn’t expect anything less from you

Ok, so you believe it'd all wrapped up with a game to spare?

Could you express an opinion once please quote master? You're like a kind of toy with a string, always sounds like the same...

Not sure if already posted but there are a few rumours AC Milan want to sign Diego Carlos, Teamtalk (who I wouldn't regard as reliable) are claiming two independent links regarding Carlos to AC.

If we could break even on FFP terms (€15m I think) would probably make sense to sell, arguably too expensive on amortisation and presumably wages for a back up centre half with fitness issues

We'd have to sign a replacement if we let Carlos go. We'd only have one right footed CB in Konsa left. He also plays RB often

No right back? I know we have the Serbian kid, but I was thinking more of an immediate starter. Maybe with Cash moving on to bring in some revenue.

a RB if we sold Cash. The players I was listing were in addition to the key players from this season. Exception would be Digne he'd leave.

  14. We only need one attacking player and that's a right footed winger. We need another Central Midfielder (I think possibly a player on loan or we could try for Ndidi on a free as Emery will return him to his best). We also need another LCB who can play LB who has similar skillset to Pau in ball progression.

So Nico Williams, Ndidi and Hermoso would be perfect. Two in on a free transfer.

  15. If we can qualify for the Champions League I think we can get Nico Williams. He'd be a huge asset for us and I think Emery wants us to be less predictable and more flexible in terms of which side is the attacking FB and winger combination. So not always going LB and RW we could go RB and LW. Williams is great with both feet but generally considered right footed and we've got just 2 left footed wingers in the squad.

Summerville would be a good alternative. We need that right footed winger who loves dribbling and has high sucessful take ons
