  1. Back from the match after a 340 mile round trip; I've spent the past few minutes reading this thread and must say I'm appalled at the majority of (negative) comments. Personally, I had a good day. Lunch with the wife sitting in the sun outside a cafe on Fulham Palace Road opposite Bishops Park. Then a stroll south to Putney Bridge, across the river on the east side, over the road and back on the west side then a stroll through the park including another bask in the sun by the Thames. Quick chat with DW outside the away entrance and then into the ground. Great to be able to mingle inside the ground with the Fulham fans with a good atmosphere and absolutely no hint of any trouble - a far cry from just six days prior; oh for every away game to be like this! Onto the game. Having been to every game bar Vienna away this season I thought this was the best performance since the opening day, particularly taking account of the enforced changes, including Clark once NRC had to go off injured. Albrighton's goal will struggle to be bettered this season - brilliant crossfield pass from Bannan and MA's first touch was sublime; it gave him the time he needed to be ahead of the defender in order to score. I can't wait to see it again on MOTD. Bannan was absolutely brilliant all game; what a performance - he has got to play in central midfield henceforth - he did everything, long passes (as for the goal) interceptions, short passes, plenty of energy and controlled aggression. He looked like he'd been playing there for years. Who needs Barry when we've got Barry Bannan? Who needs Barry when we've got Barry Bannan? Who needs Barry when we've got Barry Bannan? Ohhhhhhh, Barry Bannan. Ciaran Clark had an excellent game. As one previous poster has commented, and as I and others commented at the game, he has the potential to make the transition from defence to midfield as GB did, and he's quicker! Marc Albrighton had another good game; plenty of energy like BB and did some great tackes, and winning back of the ball several times after being dispossessed. It is churlish to blame him for the equaliser. He is the future of this Club. Whilst Nathan Delfouneso was not quite so commanding in his performance as these three, then 'give him time'. His positioning got better the longer the game went on - I felt he was drifting out to the wings in the first half - and he just needs more confidence in front of goal. Other sundry comments: Downing did some great passes into the box. Warnock / Dunne are 'getting there' and were much improved on their respective first half performances at Sunderland. Yes, I am a bit worried as to whether Ashley Young is playing for himself or the team. Finally, the away support was fantastic today. Constant and loud throughout the game - easily the best away this season and I felt sorry for the players that the last minute goal meant they did not get the applause at the end that they deserved. Yes, we do need the points, and a clinical finisher would help in this, but I'd rather dwell this evening on the players who have come through the ranks and who have done the Club proud this afternoon. P.S. one_ian_taylor: Yes, my wife said during the game that BB reminded her of Gordon Cowans and I would agree with you both on that one.
  2. I sit in the lower Doug Ellis and, whilst Beye attempted to kick it out for a throw in, son, it actually was a corner, although I can understand you thinking that from where you sit, sorry, stand!
  3. At least you got what you ordered; the so called 'last two steak & kidley pies' which your brother and I had turned out to be cheese & onion!!, and were equally shit.
  4. Well said VillaAndLoyal; in fact, I think I'm one of the people you 'talked to at the ground last night'.
  5. General. I should just ignore some of the idiotic comments being made on this thread; you'd probably be better off not responding further at least until an appointment is made. I'm sure the vast majority of Villa fans appreciate what the board has done / is doing and that there is not a bottomless pit of money to throw at new players, particularly when attendances are in decline. Keep up the good work.
  6. It makes me think we could bring in another quick short striker to play alongside him rather than playing him alongside a target man, when he can do that role himself. Spot on, I've been banging on about Gabby since his debut v Everton much to the annoyance of my Villa mates who only recently started to rate him. For me when you look at Gabby you have to throw the Manuel out the window, he's a different kind of player altogether, a team has to be able to afford him and it can be expensive, by afford i mean you have to take on board the fact that there are times when he will play a ball that you know a kid in the street aged 5 would do with more skill and accuracy, then out the blue comes something incredible, the goal last night, how many times this season have we seen Gabby move at speed into that precise position and bang it straight at the keeper, twice to my knowledge, last night his balance in moving the ball and turning on the ball in one movement, then looking up seeing 2 Hull defenders on the line plus a keeper, sweeps the ball up and over and into the far corner of the net with great accuracy, absolute class IMO a goal that even Messi would be proud of. Said this before we have some great players in Milner, Ash Young and co at Villa, for me Gabby Agbonlahor is the man, when he's up for it the whole team are on fire, you can tangibly see the differance when Gabby is on a downer, IMO if Young and Milner are worth the kind of money being touted then Gabby is worth a lot more, wonderful player and at his age and rate he will be a Villa legend on a huge scale. There is no question he should be up alongside Rooney and Defoe For England, but we all know he won't be. A bit dangerous to be chucking Spanish waiters around, don't you think, in fact not very Sibil at all!!
  7. Ha ha, do you mean as in 'going down'?
  8. A couple of young Villa fans, one of whom posts on here, have just (40 mins ago) been jumped by a couple of '60 year old' Newcastle fans' at a tube station. They're O.K. but be warned if you're on the East side of Central London. Barcode scum!!
  9. Shrewsbury Crew (3 of us) leaving in 1 hour. Sunderland here we come! (I've not been since the season we won the European Cup!). HOLTE ENDERS ON TOUR
