  1. What does Kane do? Contract up next season, does he ask for a transfer or hold tough to potentially earn far more. Serious lack of ambition if he does sign a new deal there.

Does Levy take the chance that he could walk for free?

Who wants to buy him? City no way, maybe United? I think if Newcastle get Champions League they splash the Saudi money on Kane.

I honestly think we’d be battling with the other 6-9 clubs, the relegation battle.  He was so bad! And just look how bad most of our players looked under him.  Under such a short time under Emery we have a chance of European qualification and a 0.7% of Champions League spot according to SkyBiasedSky6

Yeah I’m saying if Unai got those games instead it would probably be closer to 70% than 0.7%.

Our next 7 games are very winnable. My Predictions:

    Leicester (Away)- Win
    Southampton (Home)- Win
    Leeds (away) - Win
    Nottingham Forrest (Away)- Win
    Chelsea (Home)- Win
    Fulham (Away)- Win
    Brentford (Home) - Win

    Thats 7 wins there. That's 19 points.

Insane to think where we would be if Gerrard didn’t get 6 of these 7 games in charge.

  4. Under Gerrard this team looked like 11 individuals who had never played together. I genuinely felt like each player was spinning a wheel in their head on receiving the ball and either pass, hoof, run, shoot, etc under Gerrard. The style of play was just totally random.

Right now there is a huge togetherness in this team. We are winning together and losing together. Even little things like how quickly players are over to pick one and other up off the ground after a tackle. It’s not the finished article yet but the improvement is mind blowing. We weren’t totally at it tonight, the exertions from Saturday obviously had an effect but we still got a win, I think leicester would have won that under the previous manager. Another thing all the players seem genuinely delighted for Bert, again showing how together we are. It’s down to one man and one man only.

Was even worse - we were actually 2-0 up. And the Leicester winner was 5'4 Nathan Dyer beating 6'4 Brad Guzan to a header IIRC. 🤢

I'll never forget that game, my now wife, then girlfriend was moving to Portlaoise, we watched it in some hotel/bar having a bite. I was waiting on Villa +1 goal for a nice accum, when we went 2-0 up my bet was pretty much good but I could cash out for about €5 less than the full amount (they still needed 3 goals in about 10mins for me to lose), I very rarely cash out a bet but I said to her we are going to lose this game and took the money and ran. Genuinely believe if we won that game we'd have stayed up and they wouldnt have won the league.

We don't know. But Bissouma was 45m last January and then 25m in the summer. So the price drops can be pretty huge

Makes sense to be fair every manager is a few bad games away from the sack these days. You don’t have much time to get a replacement and are likely going to have to pay a premium if you do find one. A lot more time in the summer to bring in replacements and doesn’t derail a season.

  7. I make out that we have 22 senior players, 3 of which are goal keepers and another 3 of which are injured (Carlos, McGinn, Bert), 1 who's never played a game in Europe.

Not overly bothered by the low numbers, as if we can shift Digne & Phil in the summer along with Marvellous, Keinan, Sanson & Wesley there will be a lot of space to build on.

Neither do Newcastle, they are doing Ok!

They’re not playing in a European competition at the moment. This season is extremely unusual in that it has a World Cup mid season, I think they’d maybe 4/5 players go to the World Cup. I think other clubs had the following 16 (City), 14 (United), 12 (Chelsea), 11 (spurs), 10 (Arsenal), 7 (Liverpool).

A lot of these are underachieving at the moment and have indifferent form, Arsenal the obvious exception and you could say United are finally finding a bit of form but they were hammered by Brentford and we made them look ordinary.

Newcastle have become incredibly hard to beat and that way you’re always picking up points but they haven’t been as stretched as other teams at the end of the table. That being said they aren’t rolling at the moment like they were earlier in the season the goals have dried up.

At the other end of the spectrum West Ham have won 8 games in Europe this year but find themselves in a relegation battle.

It also could hurt us short term not getting Europe.  Not able to attract players we want in the summer and/or players like Martinez and Kamara courted by bigger clubs.  The argument goes both ways.

I don’t think we are getting a Europe league place but we are 3 points off it’s 18 games to go, maybe some quality additions now make the difference and then in the summer we figure how we cope with the extra games….certainly a nice problem to have.  If we buy a couple of additions then at least they are settled ready for the charge next season even if we don’t make Europe this season.

Ok but historically who have we actually bought in January that's done well.

    2022

Digne - £25m clearly now 2nd choice left back just 12 months later, likely on a big contract and few potential suitors.

Chambers - Free also told he can go by the looks of things.

    2021

Sanson - £14m just gone on loan has had no real impact.

    2020

Samatta - £8.5m managed a total of 14 games for us

Baston - Free waste of time

    2019

    Kalinic - total disaster

Guilbert - I liked him but managers didn't

    2018

    N/A

    2017

Bjarnason, Bree, Hourihan, Taylor, Hogan - mostly flops Conor did well.

    2016

    Cole & Senderon

    2015

    Gil & Sinclair

Everyone needs to remember a few things about Duran:

    1. MLS is in the middle of their offseason right now and he most likely isn't match fit
    2. MLS to the Premier League is like going from League 1 to the Prem, the pace is ridiculously fast and will take a while to adapt to
    3. He's only 19...  If he doesn't come off the bench and start banging in goals like Haaland doesn't mean he's a flop
    4. It'll most likely take at least a full season under Emery and in England for him to get adjusted to the country, the style of football, and the pace of the Prem

Seriously have to question his work ethic, he's basically worked a week in October, had all of November & December off and works a week in January. He'll be back on his holidays by the end of May.
