At the moment England is 4th, with Germany, Spain and Italy ahead of us. England need to overtake two of those ahead of us to get the fifth CL spot. There isn’t much that separate the four top nations at the moment, so who knows.

To be honest if Villa get into top 4, I wouldn’t mind if England miss out on the fifth CL spot, since it would mean that ManU, Spurs or Newcastle would miss out. If Villa ended up in fifth place, and England didn’t get the fifth CL spot, I would be really hate ManU, Newcastle and any other underperforming team in Europe that caused us to miss out on CL football.

For the time being I will be cheering on Villa to get into top 4 and ignore how English teams do in Europe.

England are 2nd at the moment on 11.750, behind Germany on 12.642 and ahead of Italy 11.742 and Spain 11.437. All 3 only have 7 teams in Europe due to Osasuna being ko in qualifying round.  Vital for us that United or newc could even get europa

Might be getting a bit carried away but I’m not sure there’s a player in the league I’d swap him for right now. Certainly not any midfielder.

    Douglas luiz? 😝

But the % of revenue we are allowed use for FFP is decreasing.

Under Premier League rules we can run a £100m loss (after exclusions)

Under UEFA rules not only are we not able to run a loss based in squad cost we have to run a profit.

So when you realise the scale of the changes by being in Europe you see why it's getting tougher

So what we actually need to do is trim the wage bill and not have any passengers on it. That and increase Revenue.

It just makes no sense for me to sell Luiz or Martinez to allow the club to progress, some might think thats short sighted but I don't think I've seen better players in their positions in my life following Villa.

We need to make a big player sale in summer to give us spending power. Unless moving on likes of Dendonker, Chambers, Traore and end of Lenglet's loan free's up enough. I think Digne will move on also, hopefully a fee for Sanson. Maybe if Tim goes on loan and impresses we can do a sale with buy back also.

Remember next season we've 80% squad cost cap in Europe, this seas it was 90%. So we've new issues and that will impact our transfer business.

Dont get this, we've sold Chuckwumeka, Philogene, Archer & Ramsey from the academy in the last 15 months for about £55m.

Surely with the extra games in Europe, revenue will be up substantially?

  5. In fairness to Archer I feel like he’s very different to Watkins. Ollie’s weakness is his finishing which can be very hit and miss. A great finish for his first today. Got to be frustrated he didn’t get more of a chance.

If people bother to look at every teams back up keepers the majority are no better than Olsen, several I'd argue are worse. Even top teams.  Car crash Carson is at City. Just pointless constantly moaning about this. If Emery thinks he's adequate that's that

I'd personally take Randolph, Guaita/Johnstone, Kelleher, Ortega, Heaton, Dubravka, Lloris/Forster, Fabianski, and whoever the best is out of Chelsea's 4 back ups. I hadnt seen a lot of the other clubs play so I don't think that the majority are no better than him.

The thing that concerns me about him most is that he appears scared every time he plays. I'd understand that from a young GK, but a 33yo international, who has played all over Europe and in the WC? He should have more confidence. I think his nervousness impacts our defence.

Compare him to Pepe Reina, when he came over. He had that swagger that experience should bring.

This times a million he's like a 15 year old out there. It's not realistic to not expect some drop off with Martinez not being in goals but the gulf when he's in is huge. He's like a rabbit in the headlights. Can't give the back line any confidence.

Hibs are dead last in the SPL as well by the way.

I actually think it could be because he rarely plays that he has his moments. Outfielders look rusty if they don't play for a while so why wouldn't a goalkeeper. If something did happen to Emi and Olsen had to play for a prolonged period it's plausible that we might actually see a better version of him.

Are you his agent? Or a family member?

Kept a clean sheet though. So if he makes saves is that in spite of the team also? Every player makes mistakes. He’s clearly low on confidence which is hard to build up when you don’t get a lot of game time as a backup.

Against a team who's wage bill is 1/30th of ours. Well done. DC Jonah is right we are a midtable team with him in goals for a large chunk of the season.

Whether people rate him or not, he's going to be our backup keeper this season and everyone just needs to get behind him.

Don't get this either. When McLeish was manager were you behind him? He's been given so many chances and he looks so out of his depth. We are winning/drawing games despite him not because of him.

Like the bloodbath at St James's Park?

It's not the players panicking, it's the Olsen haters. There is a lot of projection going on here.

No, he does not command his area, only the very top keepers are able to do this. This is what separates the great from the good.

His kicking and distribution seem fine to me.

The players seem confident in him, I have not once seen any of them refuse to pass to him. Again projection from the haters.

I hear he is shit a lot, but no one stating this has come up with a viable alternative. We get comments like "put Marschall on", which is the best way to destroy a career, to de Gea if free, at £300k a week.

The need for a scapegoat says more about the haters than the player. Slag him off when he's gone by all means, but just support him when he is here.

Did you not see him get the ball trapped at his legs last night that nearly ended up in an OG. Did you see the Brentford game last year?

  12. He’s no where near good enough lads anyone saying otherwise is nuts. I can appreciate people not liking abuse but he’s simply not good enough to be our back up.
