  1. You know what this what has Hughes won is really getting on my nerves. Let me be very blunt, WTF have we won in the past 16 years, exactly the same as Hughes has in his management career. And guess what Hughes is management career is a lot shorter than that. Man United have dominated our league for the past two decades so it has been difficult for many managers. I just think Hughes is a fit for Villa in terms of resources available and the squad we have.

games, lets see how many games he has won and his win ratio

then lets compair it to others

    Fulham 43 14 16 13 win ratio = 1 win in 3 or 1.3 points per game

    Man City 77 36 16 25 win ratio = 1 win in 2.1 or 1.6 points per game

    Blackburn 188 82 47 59 win ratio = 1 win in 2.3 or 1.56 points per game

so the BEST he has done was after spending £230 million pounds on players and he manages 1.6 points per game

houllier for villa in a terrible season league and cup

played 39 won 14 drew 11 lost 14 win ratio = 1 win in 2.8 or 1.36 points per game

    BETTER than hughes at fulham

so houliers first season which had all sorts of disruptions from the very start was more successful than hughes at fulham.

    Oooops.

Did Hughes spend 28 Million in the January Window? No didn't think he did and yet they still finished higher than us. Ooooops back to you.

shit? who spent 28 million in january?

    chelsea? liverpool?

i know villa didnt, so who are you talking of?

can i also check to see if teams get deducted points under the " its not fair, you have more money than me" rule?

    ahh, they dont.

or should we go on the actual outlay from each club?

that season we spent 3 million pounds

we got £26 million for milner and £3 million for davies

    we paid

    £18 million for bent

£8 million on ireland ( still makes me sick)

    £6 million on makoun

leaving a total spend of £3 million and im sure we sold sidwell for 1 million or so and shorey i thought we sold for £2 million? but not including them we paid out £3 million over what we made on transfers.

a quick look at fulham and they have spent more than we did

and as mentioned houlier achieved a higher points per game and better win ratio in his time at our club than hughes

    oh dear

Trying to compare points per game and then including cup games is deliberately trying to distort the figures in my book, as is including games when Houllier was hospitalized. In the league we had an average of 1.23 points per game under Houllier by my reckoning.

  2. BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: Mark Hughes will quit Fulham this morning to take Villa job #ffc #avfc

    MirrorFootball

Unless they have a leak from Fulham end, then I'd still trust Kendrick over the Mirror anyday... he's usually spot on.

I wouldn't be too disappointed with Hughes though as I've posted before he apparently was one of Lerner's top targets when MON left.

If he could get Warnock and Ireland playing the way they did when he was managing Blackburn and Man City, then that could only be good for the club.

Although I understand your point about Kendrick and his sources, it's worth pointing out that the Mail is owned by Trinity Mirror :winkold:

  3. Oh, and if you could have taken one of those players back in 1993 and had them down the Villa, which one would it have been? I'd go with Scholes.

    Phil Neville, deffo :winkold:

  4. I couldnt help but notice a Sledgehammer Games logo at the bottom. Sledgehammer Games are the old Visceral studios, the people who made Dead Space & Dante's Inferno. Might they be on the single player?

They are indeed working on the single player, with Raven Software being somehow involved with the multiplayer. Makes you wonder what exactly the input Infinity Ward have on the game.

  5. I wish rich people from the U.A.E would **** off..

Team Dubai, Man City and now they've **** up a Barca shirt?

After 6 seasons of wanting Barca to do well, all I can say is Hala Madrid..

[pedant]Qatar is a separate country to the UAE [/pedant]

  6. If Man Utd field a weakened team next week and lose to Blackpool do you think they will get fined?

If Blues get relegated because if it, where can I chip in to pay a pints worth of it?

with united having only dropped 2 points at home theres no way theyre going to throw that game. any team fergie puts out should beat blackpool comfortably, and will

sure their reserve team murdered shalke ffs

You're right that would never happen.

  7. I almost started a new thread on this one because I felt it was so important, however in the end I decided to post it in here so consider yourself very lucky if you are reading this:

I just went to the newsagents to buy something for lunch later. I got an egg & cress sandwich, a bottle of lemonade and a packet of salt'n'vinegar square crisps. When I came to pay for my items the bill was about £2.60, but the helpful guy behind the counter informed me that the square crisps were on special offer and two packets were available for £1.

I somewhat disinterestedly said "oh, okay" and handed over £2.60 and he reminded me again that the square crisps were on special offer and two packets were available for £1.

It was at this point where I decided to look just how much one packet of crisps was (because lets be honest, who looks at the prices when you are buying pop & crisps?) and I noticed that a single packet was 54p. So I could buy a second packet and instead of spending £1.08 I would only be spending £1! I am kicking myself for not taking him up on this offer because it is clearly amazing and I should really make a post about it on hotukdeals or somewhere.

Anyway, if you would like to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity you should head to:

    Melcombe News,

    Melcombe Place,

    Westminster,

    London,

    NW1 6JJ.

(Nearest tube stations are Marylebone and Baker Street. Nearest overground is Marylebone.)

If you do take it up then you dont need to send me any money or anything, I am not on commission, you dont even need to send me any thanks. I am just glad I can help out some fellow forumites in these times of financial hardship. :)

Wait it's between Marylebone and Baker St and I didn't notice this place? Curses! Where am I going to get such an amazing offer on squares now
