You got odds of almost 10,000/1 from 10 games....what the hell did you actually get right?

I can’t post pics on here as only allows tiny file size but I got 9 results correct and only lost out to Stoke losing 2-1. You get very big odds on 10 game acca, even picking favourites, and I didn’t pick all the favourites at all.

  2. Great performance today. I don’t think we’re playing with massive belief or form since our COVID break and when jack was out you could see our belief dropped further. Today we started strong and got the early goal and El Ghazi could have had more and then just did what we had to do.

I love the fact that this season, for the first time in a long time, we can take an early lead, let them have the ball and I don’t feel the same anxiety that the opposition will score every time they attack.

Mings, Targett, Nakamba, Elghazi and Watkins were all superb, but my man of the match has to go to Nakamba, as it has on all 3 of his previous starts. So glad he is showing his true colours now as a lot of people wanted him gone but I always believed he could come good, as he was the only player, post last years lockdown, that didn’t get a chance, whereas Trez and Luiz did (having been poor before).

This is my favourite set of players we’ve had since I started supporting Villa with the Saunders, Atkinson, Daley team.

I think people fail to realise that most of the time Watkins is trying to both control the ball AND fight off a defender trying to ragdoll and pull him down him at the same time. Alot of the time he is almost falling backwards trying to control the pass.

He is all the way UP TOP.

Still doesn't excuse them being able to gallivant through our whole team afterwards though.

Respect for the word gallivant, haven’t heard that in a while.

I said after the Southampton game we need to solider through the next 2 and then it’s pretty much a game a week for quite a while.  8 games in 18 days is crazy.

I agree, its ridiculous to expect a team that couldn’t even train until 2 days before the first of those 8 games (and several of those players suffered with COVID, which is known to result in fatigue,) to perform to their normal level.

  5. I think we look Completely shattered at the moment which is understandable after the Covid stuff, West Ham looked a lot better than I expected. Well done to Moyes as the two right back formation really worked.

I think Barkley was really poor and gave it away , changing it from our attack to there’s, far too many times. Other than that I thought Jack did well ( although not up to the standards we expect etc 9/10) and our only other really good performer was Mings, who I gave MOTM. Shame that Emi had his first poor match for us, although he made a few saves (they were all straight at him) he could have done better with 2.

Hopefully we have enough in the tank to beat Arsenal (with there shite keeper) at the weekend and then have our first break of a few days to re-energise.

We were poor from the opening minute to the last one.

We couldn't figure them out, we were completely outthought and that sapped all the energy out of our performance.

Individually Barkley put in a shift to be ashamed of, lazy and half arsed off the ball and criminally careless with it, how he had the front to look angry about being replaced is beyond me.

McGinn and Luiz were flat, Grealish very well defended, El Ghazi never got into it or looked like getting into it, Traore was better. The back four were decent enough, I thought Mings had a really good game with Antonio - but it makes no difference when there's no effort from half of the midfield to cover runners. Martinez had a poor day by his own standards but I'll give him a pass.

Watkins was my man of the match for us, he worked harder than the midfield three and deserved his goal.

I don't think we can play Traore, Grealish and Barkley together - that puts too much pressure on Luiz and McGinn - if we're going to play Traore over Trezeguet then Barkley needs to start games from the bench. We need more energy in the middle and someone who can chase a runner.

West Ham were better than I thought they'd be, organised and defensively minded, yes, but there's also some good quality throughout the team and with Lingard and Antonio a threat up front. The two Czech fellas they've got are excellent, someone on their scouting team deserves a biscuit. I think they'll be harder to dislodge in the table than people imagine.

Moyes came up with a plan we couldn't deal with and we didn't react to it - we've got to be much better than this if we have any ambitions for this season.

As things stands, this was the performance of a team that finishes 12th or 13th, which in some ways shouldn't be a disappointment, but I know we can do more.

I completely agree With all of that but I am hoping it’s a case of fatigue after the Covid situation. You could see from the second half before the Southampton match we looked out on our feet. Luckily after Arsenal we have a one week break.

  7. Great performances from Traore, Konsa, Watkins,Cash, Targett and my MOTM Nakamba. Really pleased as I’ve always thought he could have a similar progression to Trez and Luiz, who both blossomed after Lockdown, but he hasn’t had a chance to prove it until now. He made 67 passes in this match with a 98.5% success rate (and they weren’t all easy passes) which is amazing.

You have to ask the question: why was it that time, after time, after time, it was El Ghazi - a winger - who found himself in front of goal with a scoring chance? Surely that's where the striker -  Watkins - should have been, with AEG and Traore providing the supply? There's a tactical issue there.

That was the thing, every time after he shot  I thought maybe there would have been a better option, but each time when I saw the replay I realised it was his best option as no one else was in space.

  9. I’d keep Ramsey in for Barkley for this one and make sure he’s 100% for Sunday. I’d put Hourihane in for Luiz as I think his creativity is more important than Nakambas tenacity on this occasion as we should have more than enough for Burnley. Other than that I would prefer Guilbert at RB but believe Smith will go with Elmo and the only other change would be El Ghazi for Traore although only 50/50 on that one.

He's dreadful. Hard work and a good attitude can only get you so far. He genuinely looks like he took up the sport recently when he kicks the ball. Traore has to start on Friday.

I thought he had one of his best matches for us against Brighton (minus the finishing) but seems to be, very much, a confidence player, which he’d gained from good matches for Egypt but lost again after turd finishing last week.

19 fouls, one yellow and he didn't even give that one himself. Some of the ones in the last 20 minutes were textbook cynical yellows, yet nothing.

They should definitely have had a few more yellows. No attempt for the ball should always be a booking and I reckon they had at least 8.

  12. Absolutely gutted about this one as we were the better team by so far. Grealish, Luiz and Cash were superb. Unfortunately Watkins had his 50p head on and I don’t believe anyone should ever miss the target from a pen. Most annoying loss of the season so far but nice to see how much better than West Ham we are (and they were on great form).
