I think this too, both Bailey and Emi are natural right wingers, but we know that when Jack did play as a #10 previously that Dean used to swap Trez and AEG over quite regularly. It never worked.

But right footed Emi on the left, and Left footed Bailey on the right, might mean they both cut in and add more goals from the wings. I could see it.

I still can't see Emi centrally though, his defensive contribution is too much of a bonus to his game over say Traore or Bailey. I just can't see him as a #10 unless the Wingers press and defend as much as him, Bailey is a very good player but he's not that guy, so Jack at #10 with inverted wingers is my belief

I do believe, at our stage in the process, Emi’s defensive ability would help massively in the number 10 role. Saw it too many times last season with Barkley how much a bit of tracking back and aggression would have helped.

    I’m completely on board…

Would be delighted if Nakamba can prove himself capable but I just can’t see it… would love to be surprised…

I do think Nakamba can be the answer. He’s barely had a run of games since joining us to really get his flow but has all the attributes to be an Ndidi type.

This has been on the cards for a long time. I'm sure we tried to get him last year too didn't we?

I think we were definitely looking at him last year and maybe even took him on trial (could be wrong). He hadn’t played much at that point though but managed to get 22 games last season in league 1, but only scoring 1 goal. He is a couple of years older than Carney.

I came on to say I saw Aouar is being valued at £20m. Insane. Why has Arsenal not completed that yet?

    Spurs supposedly involved now.

Feels like this has been on the cards for atleast 2 windows now and the price has come right down. If they can't get it done we should just spend the cash; we know we have it. Immediately jumps into our XI

Is Aouars contract running down or something? Im sure I remember him being valued about the same as Partey last season (45 million) and Arsenal went for Partey.

What I’ve seen of ESR he’s worth every penny! If the player Arsenal are after is cheaper and better then fair dues to them but I’ll be delighted if we get ESR for less than 40m.

Yeah, my brothers a massive Arsenal fan so I watch them quite a bit and there upturn in form definitely coincided with him getting in the team as he really provided the link between midfield and attack!

Not sure Tim Vickery would have wasted time answering questions about him if that were true.

In fairness Vickery will answer any question put to him and at that stage it was only the first link stating that he was coming to Europe to meet reps from Ajax and Villa.

Tim Vickery is the go to guy for South American football. If he rates him that highly, time to get excited!

Yep. Believe he only ever got 1 recommendation wrong in Raphael Sheidt (pronounced Shite) and he always gets ribbed for that. Would be a fantastic signing I reckon and made it into the final Copa squad ahead of Buendia so must have something about him. 🤞

  8. Love Mings and believe he’s been England’s best player so far, over both matches. I believe he gets a lot of undue stick due to the fact that he was out protesting (amongst massive crowds during COVID) at a Black Lives Matter rally. A lot of people were really angry with him about that, much like when Anthony Joshua stated that people should support black owned businesses at the same time and thousands of his supporters said they’d no longer support him. I’m not saying this is the reason any of us give him grief but a lot of England fans were definitely not happy about it.

Time on BBC, all 3 episodes available now. Its a masterclass from the leads. Grim but bloody hell it was good.

Absolutely loved this, best mini series for a long time but not the most fun watch. If anyone that enjoyed this hasn’t watched The Virtues (also Stephen Graham) and loosely based around director (Shane meadows) upbringing, or at least an event during, please do, it’s absolutely fantastic.

But with Grealish and Buendia either side of him, we don't need another creative player there, we need someone to make the runs for them.

Exactly, definitely worth a go now with the added creativity of Buendia. Can see it now, Mcginn intercepting and passing it to either side, who’ll make things happen.

Looked really good I thought, playing at CAM last night. I'd really like to see Grealish, McGinn and Buendia behind Watkins next season with Douglas Luiz and either Nakamba or a new DM/CM behind them. That is a seriously good team for closing down the opposition all over the pitch, especially with our normal back five.

                           Watkins

    Grealish         McGinn          Buendia

          Douglas Luiz     Ward-Prowse

    Targett      Mings       Konsa      Cash

                            Martinez

Subs: Steer, Young, Hause, Nakamba, Sanson, Traore, Wesley

This is a team that I think other Premier League teams would be terrified of facing! Remember that McGinn was also one of the most fouled players last season too!

He isn’t the most creative type but would really help with our high press and opposition teams would hate us.

SJM was superb tonight. Skill, aggression, intelligence. Had everything. Billy Gilmour is such a class act. Kieran Tierney is going to be legend down here too. Feels like a victory this. Many parties still going on. Saints, Villa and Scotland. What great teams to support.

Fair play mate, enjoy. Must say I was pretty worried he’d fade away after his early booking but didn’t at all.

So far we've signed a 36 year old and player that only scored once the last time he was in the premier league and that Norwich wanted to sell and there wasn't much in the way of other takers for. Still a lot of work to be done.

    Classic!

Yeah I think the plan is for him to be a goal scoring wide forward - like Salah, Messi, C Ronaldo - playing off a central workhorse. He’ll play central as well, but it seems like this is the plan.

Back in the old days he would have been the small, quick one in a front 2, paired up with a big target man, but times have changed.

Yeah, he’s definitely more suited to the inside forward position.

I wonder if Martinelli would be attainable… Arsenal are in a right mess and Emi has a good relationship with him…

Decent player but needs to prove his fitness as would be a massive gamble

The academy players from the FAYC team most likely to go out on loan are Kesler, Aaron Ramsey, and Raikhy and Young if we can find them suitable clubs.

Then some of the olders ones like Bridge, Dominic Revan, Wright, Archer, Vassilev and maybe Jacob Ramsey depending on who else we sign, will probably be loaned out as well.

I think Chukwuemeka and Barry will stay as they will still be seventeen when the season starts, very rare for players to go out on loan at that age.

Philogene-Bidace i can see us keeping around and playing in the early rounds of the League Cup, and then reevaluating his situation in January.

The thing is with our youth set up now is the u18s that are good enough play for the u23s against much more experienced, and more physically developed players, thus negating the same need to play “mans” football. Chuk is already their physically and I believe he is ready to be integrated into the first team already. Could see it as maybe Barry going out on loan as he has all the skill but would be good to see how he stands up , physically, to the Championship.
