Thought he was good tonight. Their first goal was the only time I saw him lose his man - and that was shortly after our formation change due to Baker's injury.

He's not a brilliant defender, granted. But he's good at getting forward and generally being in the right position.

I simply cannot agree with those calling him sub-standard. Hutton was sub-standard. Lowton is not.

Hutton was nowhere as bad as Lowton in terms of overall play.

The Christmas sherry must be still in full flow at Chez Risso.

  2. This was a potential signing 2.5 yrs ago. I was happy to see him come then but on reflection glad he didnt.

Holt was a bone of contention even then, he wouldn't have been an amazing signing then either. Now considering Lambert has been here for the same length of time you'd think we'd have moved on from signing someone who has actually declined from an average player to one that struggles in the Championship.

Quick question :  Carlton Cole or Grant Holt?

    And that makes it ok?

Ok then name a better alternative that would come in on a short term loan?  Or would you be happy to turn to Bowery or Helenius?

Here we go with the name a better alternative usually found in the manager thread.

Firstly I dont know who is available, secondly I have no idea on budget constraints. However I would very much prefer to see Helenius play and as for Bowery well its likely that he isnt much worse than a man who is overweight, struggling with fitness and cant get into a Wigan side that has been playing midfielders up front.

    Just not needed

Also the argument of lets wait to see who we sign doesn't stack up. If we sign no one else, its still a poor signing and if we sign Kiyotake and Defour as well, its still a poor signing.

And if Holt comes off the bench to score 2 crucial goals this season, it's still a poor signing?

Depends whether he previously came off the bench several times instead of someone else and did, in all likelihood, nothing.

People pretending to be ITK, I just don't get it.

It's not even someone pretending to be ITK, it's someone who got some information from who can only be described as a "reliable" source, as well as connecting other dots and passing on the information as they see fit. It could be completely wrong but the person isn't pretending. As well as the fact that common sense should tell you our forum is monitored and 1 or 2 of our very own posters/members do happen to be ITK. It's not as far fetched as one may think.

I still don't get why people would pretend to be ITK.

What happened nearly two years ago is not really what we are talking about but it might have had something to do with the shower of shite he took over from

As opposed to the shower of shite Pulis has taken over from? Its also relevant to the points made as its in relation to a new manager coming in and picking up points.

I don't think lambert should be sacked. I just think that for a young manager he needs to do a bit more listening and learning and a lot less stubbornness and bore tactics. Everything he seems to be against, I think he needs to take a more balanced view and realise that experience can help, it's not all about the league, and players should always be given another chance barring exceptional circumstances. And playing attractive football may see us further down the league but at least I'll be on the edge of my seat, not out of it and out of the stadium walking to the train early

This whole thing makes very little sense but if I understand (??) your post, you would'nt mind being further down the bottom as long as we were playing  "more attractive" football? This would keep you interested and "on the edge of your seat".......err, Ok!

Think he's saying if we finished 11th, and its a massive if, playing this horrendous boring football all season then from a spectators and entertainment point of view it would be more enjoyable to finish say 15th but by at least trying to play football.

Or you have to be able to bring on new channels of revenue, Lerner has failed doing both.

Hasn't the club increased non tv revenue at almost the same % increase as tv revenue?

No.  The May 2012 accounts show that every single line of income decreased.  TV money was down, match day income was down, commercial income was down,

So it still could be in line with tv revenue? Either way to say new channels of revenue hasn't been bought in is wrong.

Liverpool and stoke showing how to entertain the fans. Stoke the underdogs were fantastic. Proves you dont have to be a sky team to play good football and you dont even have to WIN! Lambert should show that game to all the players before Arsenal. But im predicting a lazy appearence from the players again tomorrow.

And villa haven't had any entertaining games against top sides this year... Plus Liverpool and stoke both went long a lot today.

    Long balls played today

    Stoke - 53

    Liverpool - 55

Lowest Average Long balls per Game

    Manchester City - 54

Many people are saying we are only two games away from the relegation zone but this mis-understands the situation - teams below us are not winning week after week, in fact they are struggling to accumulate even a point a game - yesterday was a prime example, the nine teams in action from 10th place down took a total of six points between them. By the end of the season there will likely be less than 10 points between 10th and 17th - to have a a 5 point gap at the halfway stage is not bad, particularly as we haven't played very well yet. If we lose the next five we will be in trouble but not losing the next two is not automatically disaster.

Palace have picked up more points since Pulis took over than we have in that same time period.
