coulda shoulda woulda. Why've you got to be so angry all the time, Morpheus? Are you familiar with the Abraham Lincoln quote, 'I would find myself getting deeply distressed if I lived in hindsight all the time.'

So by that we shouldn't comment on anything that has happened? Add to that the ones saying we should wait and see what happens before we form an opinion does that mean there is nothing to talk about?

A straw man argument is where you mis characterize the position of another, and then attack that caricature as if it was the original posters position. There's a difference between "we shouldn't comment on anything that is happening." And recognizing that hindsight is 20/20 and when using every honest mistake, unforeseen consequence, calculated risk, and negative result, is magnified as if it were a deliberate choice that preferred the bad outcome.

You're not too foolish to see the difference between the two. Can't understand why you would pretend that you are.

Because not everything, in this case Big John, talked about is hindisght. Hence the caricaturisation. But you knew that too.

  2. Good loan signing. Think that his Chelsea career is over but come the summer, after suitably impressing for us, he'll have plenty of options and hopefully we are the one he chooses.

Who said Lambert can do no wrong?

In reality, no-one has. It's the accusation thrown when you refuse to be as negative as someone wants you to be. It always has been, going back to MON "the messiah"(sic).

Which, in this case, is to be negative about literally everything that ever happens at the club.

Its almost like there's no one on here who is endlessly positive no matter what happens too.

Surely you can form an opinion on what they've done before villa. Don't remember the past of McLeish being ignored before our first game under him.

People can form an opinion but it just seems odd* that in forming that opinion, his season in the Premier League where he scored 15 league goals under Lambert is being; if not completely ignored; certainly massively downplayed in favour of much more negative, not to mention subjective, criteria.

    * well I say 'odd'. It isn't really, in the sense that I know perfectly well what people's motives are for reaching their negative conclusion.

    What are these motives then?

Bertrand is a good player and signing. Just saying.

  6. The problem is that we seem to want it all - not to be in a relegation battle, to sign players, to play beautiful football and to have a sustainable club.  The reality is that the financial trimming means that we simply can't do this and have to prioritise.  In my opinion;

    1. Sustainability

    2. Survival

    3. Additions

    4. Beautiful football

It's just an added bonus to have a team playing wonderful, easy on the eye stuff.  I can put up with a couple of seasons of dross to see a long-term benefit.  This summer is huge though, no doubt about it.

Did we play good football & pick up points between Feb & May last season?

Haha why's it matter what the difference is? So its OK for them to do it but not us?

Because they don't do it as much as us? Especially as a percentage which is what you originally brought up to prove some sort of point about Lambert over Laudrup.

And I corrected myself to say they've played more long balls, which they have.

Well only according to some link at thisisanfield, whoscored which I think that was previously taken from has them down as playing less. The whole point was pointless.

  8. Guzan has done an interview and says the decision to bring him in by Lambert was a no brainer. I guess guzan knows **** all as well then?

Interviewer: "Brad, what do you think about Villa signing Holt?"

    BG: "Shit awful."

Interviewer: "Oh ok, wasn't expecting that, I thought you'd say something good like it was a no brainer. Never mind, erm do you know how many long balls you play?"
