  1. Ive been reading on some Newcastle forums now and its quite amazing. Seriously do it. Go have a read now. Read the posts about their expectations, new manager, new players and where they actually should be on the table. Jesus **** christ.

I know what you mean, they're all suggesting signing attacking players like Arshavin & Crouch. Even the fans can't tell they need a defence :!:

Some of them even think they could get Berbatov.

  2. Agreed Silva is a good fighter but how effective he will be in the UFC with the extra rules and the claustrophobia that the octagon causes is yet to be seen. He's still young enough to do it though, despite 3 straight losses. It was his lack of a gameplan which suprised me, Jardine showed how to neutralise Chuck but Silva didn't seem to have taken what happened in that fight on board... he seemed to be in awe of Chuck and the occasion where as Chuck (obviously) felt right at home.

Lesnar vs Mir is interesting but Mir has looked a shadow of his former self... it's a miracle he's still fighting at all after his accident. I've never had an interest in wrestling so i don't know a huge amount about Lesnar but it will be interesting to see how he adapts to mma

I can't see the Fedor/Couture happening and to be honest I'm not sure i want to see it. Randy's previous couple of fights have been brilliant in the sense that he had a gameplan and executed it to perfection. A real life Rocky story... whatever happens with the contractual situation won't change what he has achieved... but by the time the dispute is sorted i'm not sure he will be able to compete with Fedor, he seems to be heading into Hollywood and once he does that i think his fighting career is over.

I'm looking forward to Evan Tanner's return, after everything he's been through it will be interesting to see if he can still compete, i have the feeling Okami with prove too much too soon

Brock will probably use his fantastic amature wrestling background (106-5) as his main style however he's started to learn Jiu-Jitsu ontop of everything else he knows.

Tim Sylvia recently done an interview about Lesnar/Mir and had some interesting things to say.

Tim Sylvia spoke recently with Steve Cofield of ESPN radio and had some interesting things to say about his former training partner, Brock Lesnar, including a prediction in his upcoming fight with Frank Mir at UFC 81.

"I don’t think he’s gonna have a future in mma," said Sylvia. "I think Frank Mir’s gonna beat him.

"I’ve trained with Brock. I think Frank Mir’s gonna submit him. He’s a baby. Don’t kick him because he’ll get hurt. He’s a hell of a wrestler man, the guy can wrestle and he’s strong, but he can’t punch and he can’t get kicked. And he don’t know how to kick. He can only go straight forward. I think Mir will submit him."

Sylvia also believes that the UFC may be putting Lesnar in against Frank Mir in order to set up a future battle between himself and Mir.

"I think Mir has what it takes to submit him," continued Sylvia. "They could be lining this up between Frank Mir and myself down the road. They tried to [set up the] fight when I was supposed to fight Randy, but the Nevada State Athletic Commission would not sanction it. They thought I was too good for him. If he wins this fight I don’t think they could say he’s not good enough to fight me anymore."

Brock Lesnar is a very highly decorated collegiate wrestler. He was a four-time all-American, two-time big-ten Champion and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion. He finished his four year collegiate career with an outstanding record of 106-5.

Lesnar also enjoyed a very successful run in WWE before trying his hand at the NFL where he played some pre-season games for the Minnesota Vikings. He was later cut and declined an invitation to play in NFL Europe, instead deciding to go back to Pro Wrestling in Japan for a brief stint before finally settling on a career in MMA.

He has since dedicated himself to the sport, training with UFC Legend Royce Gracie and at Minnesota Martial Arts Best Academy of Minnesota with Sean Sherk, Nick Thompson, and Brock Larson.

He will face Mir at UFC 81 on February 2 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

  3. ^ Anderson Silva is a very good fighter, so smooth, classy and versatile.

GSP really dominated Hughes outwrestling him which probably added to the humiliation.

Can't wait for Lesnar to debut against Mir, I loved him when he was in WWE  Hopefully it's a good fight.

Thoughts on a possible Fedor/Couture fight?

  4. General, a complaint from me, sorry!

We placed an order with VillaDirect on the 12h of December with delivery in 5-7 days. There was supposed to be a £10 discount aswell but it didn't come off. Anyhow, we waited about 8 or 9 days for it too arrive & after no luck we rang the VillaDirect hotline, we gave them the order number ETC & they attempted to track it but they could not find it, I don't even know if they sent it out but now we're without our christmas pressents.

On a brighter note, thanks for all of the great work & have a merry Christmas & happy new year.

  5. I think the fact that Floyd is such a cock personality wise, makes people wanna make excuses for Hatton.

Mayweather won me over this week.

Id been thinking about it for a while actually. I dont know whether it was in this thread or another where i defended Mayweather for blanking Hatton when the possibility of a fight appeared on the radar. Early mind games to a legitimate target. Fair game.

Everything Mayweather does is designed to get under an opponents skin. The KO in the fight came from Hatton becoming reckless and Mayweather punishing it. If Hatton had kept his cool i think the fight would have ended up on an overwhelming points win in Mayweathers favour, but Hatton wouldnt have got knocked out. Every second of Hatton's experience of Mayweather from the first time they were in the same room together to the final weigh in before the fight was mind games and head **** from the American. Some subtle (the video of him complaining to his trainer about his hand hurting) and some not so subtle (just being in his face at every opportunity)

Mayweather projects himself as a prick, yet people like De La Hoya and Amir Khan come out and say that in private he is a thoroughly decent bloke, and in fact very likable. I couldnt see it myself.

Then in the interview immediately after the fight Mayweather shows that he can be magnanimous in victory. He was a perfect gent. The impression i get from reading the papers this weekend also suggests that the private post fight conversations betweem Hatton and Mayweather have seen them getting along famously too.

So youve got to seperate Mayweather the Boxer from Mayweather the Man. Mayweather the Boxer knows that its a 24/7 job. Every time you are seen in public you are at work and if you can gain a 1% advantage from pissing off the guy you are or may be fighting then its worth doing. That 1% could be the difference between being a good fighter and being a great fighter. Mayweather isnt stupid. In fact, i think he is a lot cleverer than a lot of people give him credit for and if he is playing the game as well as i think he is then im in awe of the man.

Great post Rev, everyone who knows him personally when they have been asked always say he's a great person in reality, even Michael Buffer. Mayweather knows what makes a great build-up & he does it perfectly IMO.

  6. Anyone else watching the match for free via internet? Myp2p.eu has got it avlbl on a few different streams...looks like I'll be watching the match on some Romanian channel...lol

Same here thanks to the incompetence of Virgin Media.

Sounds like the same channel aswell.

  7. Does anyone know if Virgin are showing the repeats? It says they are not being shown in all areas.
    Ex-NTL areas only.

The ex-telewest areas dont have the capability to do repeats of live events.

Any idea if there's a way to find out if i'm in an ex-NTL area?
