We've played 15 more games than Tottenham.

Does european football really need to be like that.

Surely you could have a cup where the winner doesn't need to play 15 to 20 games to win it. Presumably its just money driving that.

Well we've only played 10 games in the proper Conference league, just that we had no European coefficient so we had to play 2 qualifying games as well.

    Everyone wetting the bed! 😀

    Let's not worry about things we can't control and enjoy what we have. Don Unai is here. He's not said he wants to challenge himself at another club. Lets also look at the facts;

    1. He left Sevilla for PSG. I don't think he'd have left Sevilla for many other clubs. PSG were on the rise then with an unlimited budget. Arguably he'd taken Sevilla as far as anybody could in the modern game.

    2. PSG threw him under the bus. He won the domestic trophies yet they still sacked him. I don't imagine he looks back at working for them very fondly.

    3. He joined Arsenal after Wenger who also threw him under a bus. He was cruelly mocked by all yet was exceptional given the budget and players he had.

    4. At Villarreal he turned down Newcastle. He joined us because we've given him the chance to build the club in his image, his way.

    5. We're supporting him in all aspects. He's got the management, coaching, and scouting team he wants. The club is growing, and getting more successful.

    That's a good analysis.

In summary, he got sacked from 2 clubs, he left one club because the richest (maybe second richest) club in the world offered him a job, and the other time he left was for Villa.

He'll eventually win us the Champions League and then only leave for Real Madrid.

He is only 52 and the weather is terrible here.

That's a really good point. Hasn't it rained pretty much continuously since Unai arrived at Villa? Maybe he's getting his power from the rain gods.

My worry is I think he still want to prove himself at a giant club after Arsenal.

What if we are the giant club in 3 years time 😃

You think it's a surprise if the team in fourth with the joint 3rd best home record beats a midtable side who are joint 10th in the away table?

However if you look at their 2024 form, aren’t they something like 6th in the table? They are definitely much improved from the first half of the season.

You reckon there will be Champions League qualification and progression clauses/bonuses which could see this rise?

I think the Betano and Adidas deals quoted are the top line figures IF we do qualify for the Champions League.  No doubt they would be lower if we are not in the CL.

At least if they don't set the meeting up they can't claim you've been consulted this time. Or can they...

Of course they will say they consulted.   The same way Heck apparently told the FA they did consult on his abomination of the new new badge.

So, i've just had this email sent to me from the club re a change to t&c's

I suppose this is one way of increasing revenue!!!!!

Not a smart move if you ask me.

I’m trying to work out if this is even legal?

When I signed up for the 12 month contract, I specifically ticked the box that said I didn’t want to auto-renew.  Halfway through that contract where I chose NO, they are now saying they have unilaterally changed my answer to YES.

It's a sharp business practice making customer experience worse. If this is the big way of making money, the new leadership aren't especially imaginative and seem hell bent on extraction rather than creating an attractive proposition for people to spend their money.

Exactly. It’s like something an 18 year old new to the workplace would come up with when told to increase revenue.

Not exactly a grand or clever idea a commercial manager being paid hundreds of thousands of pounds should come up with… what do you think Mr Heck?

So you're not going to renew because of this?

I will email and give notice to cancel now.  Once my membership expires, I will renew again at a time of my choosing.

I think you’re not understanding the point, I assume deliberately because it’s really not hard to understand

You can cancel for free, no drama, with full refund, within 14 days of the membership being renewed.

I don't understand what people are getting pissy about?

If I buy something for a period of 12 months, then I’d like that service to be for 12 months.  Not for them to extend it for another 12 months unless I cancel.

They used to let us choose when signing up whether you wanted auto-renewal or not. I signed up with no auto-renewal. They have now changed the terms of the contract I signed up to without my consent.

Playstation Plus and some car insurance also try this trick and I don’t allow them to either. But at least they tell you at the start of the contract, not changing it during my contractual period.

I’m certainly not going to accept this from Villa either.

I do realise that I might be in a minority and that’s fine. That’s what the club are banking on, 99% won’t even read the email.

Who would we sell / let go to free up space in the squad?

Chambers, Olsen, Donk, Cash (replace), Lenglet (replace), Kesler maybe (though ive always liked him)

Digne, Olsen, Lenglet, Hause, Chambers, Donk, Zaniolo, Sanson, Coutinho.

    maybe Cash.

Yep, Zaniolo and Lenglet loans end and we won't buy them.

    Sanson contract expires this summer?

Hause, Chambers, Dendoncker, Coutinho all not wanted, but we may struggle to move on.

Olsen if our new young goalkeeper is ready to become Emi's back-up.

I think we'll keep Cash as a squaddie but buy a new first choice RB.

Digne probably gone just because he's too expensive.

We'll keep Kesler, he's young and cheap and has potential to break through next season.

Can I bet on Spurs not getting to 70pts? I don't think they will

Yes kind of. Betfair exchange - you can offer or take the opposite to any bet - so for example if you can bet Spurs for top 4, then you can also bet Spurs NOT top 4.   There are some points variations on there as well via handicaps, so you could work out an relevant opposite to one of those.

  14. They need to get them on sale ASAP.

I assume season ticket holders will get first chance for their usual seats?  So if those go on sale Tuesday for 2 days, then members on Thursday, then general sale on Monday.

It’s not Heck’s badge it’s NSWE … If they were suitably blown away by the round badge do you think they’d let it be changed a year afterwards ? Why is it the Lerner badge and not Paul Faulkner’s. Yes Heck would’ve been behind it but ultimately it is Nas & Wes’s badge as it will define their ownership in terms of badges. Or is it cause a lot don’t seem to like Heck they get away from being associated with it ?

Because we know that NWSE trust their CEO's to get on with the job and don't micro-manage on details. They accepted Purslow's badge, they will accept Heck's reasoning to change the badge and will accept his new badge, and they will accept the new future CEO's badge when that happens in the future.

I see loads of people on Twatter talking about a deal with CocaCola is that just a rumour? I hadn’t heard anything about that but there’s quite a few mentioning it?

It's just because of that interview where the CEO of Coca-Cola said he was a Villa fan.  Nothing in the rumours and speculation.

  17. Everywhere I went today in and around Villa Park, I spoke to and noticed fans visiting Villa Park for their first time. Nice to see new fans here, no idea how they all managed to get tickets though lol.

The club shop was packed, and the new caterers were present in the Upper Trinity selling the chicken tikka and chips for £12.50.

Yeah the Champions League matches have a higher weighting.

Also the shit performance by the other muppets this year has absolutely tanked the premier league's overall coefficient from 21914 to 17386. That means if we were qualifying for the conference last year with this score we'd be in a way worse position, barely ranked above Beer Sheva.

Going into next season we have 19 of our own points and counting, so our coefficient would be a minimum of 36,386.

In comparison to our 19 points, Man City have earned 28, Arsenal 22, Liverpool 20, West Ham also 19, Brighton 16, Newcastle 8, Man U 7. So for 'new to Europe' clubs it's arguably better to qualify for the conference first and go deep as that's much better for your coefficient than getting smashed in the champs league, providing you can keep qualifying

Though the rankings look at your 5 year coefficient so 1 year of doing well in the Conference doesn’t help that much.  Really need 3-4 years in Europe first.
