  1. I think Gerrard see's him as an 8 and we've got enough 8's as it is.

Ramsey, McGinn, Sanson. Potentially also Carney.

Would makes sense to offload one of them honestly especially if we sign this Rodrigo guy.

The problem is they never give a manager long enough to actually get his tactics across to the players, and for them to actually get used to implementing those tactics.

They probably just expect to get a "new manager bounce" every few months and that will keep them up.

Roy Hodgson is a very basic manager.

He won't need long to put his ideas across.

Been here before. Knows exactly what it takes. Very sensible appointment.

For where we are going now, you have to have a lot of nous in terms of timimg runs, reading of the game and positional sense.

You only have to watch Vardy for all of this and you know I like a bit of meat in that role.....but his other attributes, compensate for his slight frame.....for a smallish guy, his pace and Assertive/Aggressive nature, is like our Andy Gray, in that sense.( not necessarily pace, just A/A)

You have to have tools in your armoury, that render goals.....as there are different styles of Striker....but you have to be and expert with those tools.

Firmino isn't really your Vardy type.

He is great at linking up the play and is very clever. Makes space for others.

You don't have to be a natural goal scorer to be effective.

If Davis is occupying defenders creating spaces for others that's extremely valuable. It doesn't matter who scores the goals so long you win the game.

Ever since he's arrived there they've been winning games.

  4. I've always been consistent on Davis. Always rated him.

    Passes my eye test.

Got a lot of good attributes but ultimately injuries is what may hinder him reaching his full potential.

Realistically he is never going to make it at Villa because of the forwards we've already got. If he can find a home at Forest I'd be happy for him, great club.

Well apparently Martinez was off if we finished midtable this season….

Grealish signed a new contract just over a year ago.

It doesn't mean anything. All it means is we get premium money if someone come for him.

He's now scored 4 goals in 76 professional appearances. I'm not convinced he'll ever be a prolific goalscorer and one goal for Forest isn't going to change my opinion on that.

As with many strikers his game is about more than scoring goals though. Hopefully he can continue to impress at Forest and kick on. Just getting a run of matches without picking up an injury would be a big step for him as he hasn't been able to do this previously in his career.

He is never going to become a goal scorer if you only give him sub appearances.

I think Davis can easily become a 10-15 goal striker in the Championship. Only thing that could hinder him are his injuries.

England central midfield is pretty poor, Rice, Phillips, and Henderson are fine but DMs, so they shouldn't be an hindrance to him getting a call up, and beyond DMs there's not really much there, Mount isn't even a central midfielder, Ward-Prowse is okay but if it wasn't for set-pieces no one would be talking about him playing for England.

Basically England have a shortage of traditional box-to-box midielders, Bellingham is the only real one currently, so in theory Ramsey if he keeps up his current form he should have a chance of getting a call up, as there aren't many English players that do what he does, and it's role that in most teams is quite important.

Southgate doesn't really play box to box midfielder though.

    More a Jose style 4-2-3-1 with 2 holders and a number 10.

  8. Mings constant hoofing is making it hard for us to control games. You can't just keep giving the ball away if you want to become a top team.

Gerrard want us to play out from the back. If Mings is unable to do that I can't see him surviving as a starter long term.

    Need ball playing centre halves.

What are you basing this on and more importantly why are you basing your presumption so strongly on it?

We are discussing something that has yet to come to pass and from where I sit the possibility of him being a league leader by seasons end is more probable than it is just a potentiality.

It's still all speculation and hearsay. To suggest any different says something in itself.

Have you watched him play post Liverpool?

He's not been the same player.

I think its unfair to have unrealistic expectations from him.

He used to dance out of tight spaces and take players on but he just isn't that player anymore. And you would know that had you actually watched him in recent years.

He can still shoot, pass and arrive in the box but Liverpool levels just ain't happening.

He offers so much more than Ings. Are we creating lots of chances for him ?No

Wesley shit,Davis shit Kodja shit Ings a bit shit Watkins was good now shit .Villatalk seems to specialise in making a striker our go to scapegoat.

Ings didn't do much, and Watkins was a massive part of our good first half. What Watkins does as an outlet, I'm not sure Ings has that in his locker.

I'd like to see him firing though.

The vital work Watkins does will get missed by your average fan who are just goal and assist merchants.

Gerrard and the coaching staff will understand how integral to the team Watkins is and that is all that matters.

Ings just cannot do the lone striker role. Cannot meet the physical demands required.

I wouldn't even have brought him off the bench on Saturday. Thought it was a wrong sub.

His whole style of play was different for Inter, played with loads of confidence. Exact opposite for Chelsea.

I think defences are much stronger in the Prem.

Serie A was THE league for strong defences back in the day but it has changed a lot in recent years.
