  1. It's funny how people see things differently. I thought he looked good coming on.  He moved the ball well and looked calm and composed.  I would start him Sunday

  2. Awful experience, in the end I just selected the "select my seats for me" option. Not the ones I would have chosen but after an hour of trying I'm just pleased to have any at all!  Why is our ticketing system so bad? It's not like they can have been surprised by the demand for this game!

BL are going to struggle at West Ham, I mean they've all been drunk for at least 3 days since they won their title as evidenced by Frimpong in a Villa top dancing like a mad man. I wouldn't bet against that being competitive. Liverpool, depends on Klopp, I think he'll let it go to be honest and focus on the league given it's his last hoorah. Us - well, would be rubbish to go out at this stage, but I think it'll be a close thing. So I see West Ham and Villa through and this coefficient watch carrying on for a little while longer.

Sorry I completely missed this, did that really happen?

  4. really seems to be growing into the side and showing some good stuff.  My only concern currently is he seems to fade from the game in the second half.

  5. I still have spurs finishing just one point ahead of us.  That's with them winning against forest, Burnley and Sheffield utd, drawing with Newcastle, arsenal and Chelsea and then losing against man City and Liverpool.

Hopefully maybe Newcastle or Chelsea can beat them.  Regardless, it's still possible to get 4th from here

  6. I'm pretty happy with where we are, 2 points ahead of spurs still (regardless of their game in hand, it's points on the board that count) and only 1 goal behind them and they still have to play man City.   Match or beat their result at the weekend and I think we will be looking the strongest for 4th place

I think if Europe goes down to 7th or 8th then Brighton will surely be in the mix on the last day. With how they play they always run through Man. United's midfield and create numerous chances against them.

All of Palace, Bournemouth and Brighton won at Old Trafford in the first half of the season so I find it hard to believe Man. United will just beat them all away without breaking sweat. Brentford and Chelsea will be tricky games aswell to win on the road.

I mean going by the predictions up there you've got them getting 1 point from their next 3 games. If we beat Wolves and Brentford at home in that time frame we'd actually be 13 points clear of them so while mathematically it would still be possible realistically it wouldn't given how few games would be remaining.

They don't need to beat them without breaking a sweat, all they need to do is get a lucky VAR call and beat them in the 97th minute by 1 goal.  Its very feasible with Brentford's form (currently last over the past 6 games) and Palace who have won 1 in the last 6 that Utd beat them both.  Yes Brighton could go either way, but the way I see it, is if Utd have the possibility of finishing in the champions league places when they play them I think they win it.

I think you are missing the point from the original post you quoted me on though, where I said we would still finish above them.

So he said I would join Chelsea right now because it would shine more light on Jamaica? 🤦🏾‍♂️

What about everything else he said in follow up and how he ended the answer?

Anyway I'm just happy he is playing well right now, because if he wasn't this would be convoluted even worse than it is now.

I think it was a smart and generic answer.

Again, it would be stupid of him to say " Yes I would accept an offer from Chelsea right now " or " No I wouldn't accept an offer from Chelsea "

I know what we want to hear when a player is playing well is " Yes I'm Villa through and through.. and want to be here until I stop performing and ppl offer to drive me to the airport for free again " etc

The interviewer was really trying to coax this out of him.

Fair enough.  I disagree with you but thats the way it is sometimes.

In my opinion, he could have said "No i wouldn't accept an offer from Chelsea right now" (key difference between what options you gave me), which would have been a far better answer as it always leaves the door open should he ever need it but it makes us lot feel far better.  No need for him to say "Yes I'm Villa through and through.." etc as you've put.

Surely this shows how hard it is for United to catch us. They need to average 1.8 PPG to even get 67.

For us to get 66 (which we would need to finish below them unless some wild stuff happens with GD) we'd need to average 1.1 PPG which would be the worst PPG average for Emery with us by a mile.

3 wins should be enough to put United out of range tbh.

oh I don't disagree, in fact I don't think they catch us, but VillaChris seemed to think it was impossible for them to get 67 and they had to beat either liverpool or arsenal to do it

Yeah that's not what happened at all though FFS 😂

They were talking about his Phoenix stablemate Dujian Whisper and Raheem Sterling being at Chelsea ( Fellow Jamaicans ) and guy asked him if that would be impetus for him to accept an offer from Chelsea etc.

He said " I don't know how to answer that question... But big club " etc Jamaican players at big clubs shining light on the country etc.

He basically answered the question pretty intelligently, he literally never answered the question directly at all.

" I'm happy and comfortable where I am but you never know what can happen in Football ".

Would be pretty stupid of him to slap any club away outright then they offer 100 mill or something for him in summer lol

But it is.   Yes they were talking about the other Jamaicans and they asked if he would accept a move to Chelsea, he then says - There are the big 6 in England including Arsenal and Chelsea...who wouldn’t want to go to a massive club especially coming out of Jamaica, it would shine more light. Its noth about other players, its about him, he even says "especially being who i am"

Who out of Liverpool and Arsenal have you got Man. United beating? I think they'll get 1 point out of that and lose at Brighton on the final day. Can they even reach 67 points if those results occur?

I haven't, and they didn't need to.  I think they beat Brighton as Brighton will literally have nothing to play for by then.
    Brentford(A) 1 - 48
    Chelsea (A) 1 - 49
    Liverpool (H) 0 - 49
    Bournmouth (A) 3-52
    Newcastle (H) 3 -55
    Burnley (H) 3 - 58
    Palace (A) 3 - 61
    Arsenal (H) 0-61
    Brighton (A) 3-64
    Sheff Utd (H) 3-67

Taking each game in isolation i don't think any of those predictions are wild over estimations of what Utd are capable of, obviously its football and all could go either way but we are all trying to stare into our crystal balls so we've got to take a stab at what we think it most likely.

  12. I only watched 10 minutes but interesting to hear him basically say he would join Chelsea right now as it would "shine more light" on Jamaica

The next 4 games are key - partly because they represent a large proportion of the remaining fixtures (:D), but also for the mental side of sides in the battle:

Villa:  Wolves (H), Man City (A), Brentford (H), Arsenal (A) (Lille tie either side of Arsenal game)
Spurs:  Luton (H), West Ham (A), Forest (H), Newcastle (A)
Man Utd:  Brentford (A), Chelsea (A), Liverpool (H), Bournemouth (A)

    ...

    Villa:  Bournemouth (H), Chelsea (H), Brighton (A), Liverpool (H), Palace (A)
Spurs:  Man City (H), Arsenal (H), Liverpool (A), Burnley (H), Sheff Utd (A) and Chelsea (A) (to be arranged)
Man Utd:  Newcastle (H), Burnley (H), Palace (A), Arsenal (H), Brighton (A) and Sheff Utd (H) (to be arranged)

Again, being pessimistic, let's assume we get 4 points, Spurs get 9 points and Man Utd get 12 points.  End of the season table would be:

    Spurs - 72 points
    Man Utd - 66 points
    Villa - 64 points

So whilst, yes, we may not finish 4th, I think it would need a fairly substantial shift in fortunes for both us and Man Utd for us not to finish 5th.  This can obviously happen, but it just feels really unlikely.

Looking at those fixtures I have the table finishing as

    Spurs - 69

    Villa - 68

    Utd - 67

It closed down about a month ago. It’s not permanent, but it’s not not permanent either. Costs, rent, energy…unfortunately.

Ah that's rubbish! Let's hope someone takes it on, it's far too nice a pub for it to be closed

  15. Wasn't sure where to write this, so thought I'd put it in this thread.

Me and my dad thought we would get a table at the Barton Arms for a bit of dinner before Ajax, but the phone line doesn't seem to be connecting and Google is now saying temporarily closed.  Does anyone know what's going on with it? It's our favourite pub to have a pretty match pint in so hoping it's not a long term thing?

Waited an hour for the initial rush to die down and got front row K4.... can't wait

I managed to get 2 tickets in the upper holte after queueing which is great as its been ages since i've been in there, even as a memeber!  Maybe the queueing system is a better way of doing it!

What was the row with emery about first half? Flashed up on big screen and seemed quite heated

To me it looked quite light hearted, Digne had a smirk on his face the entire time

Are there any circumstances where a Mings, Pau, Konsa back three could work next season? ( Pau central - Ming's Left, Konsa Right )

Pau with a little license to get further forward, and Mings/Konsa closing the gap as a central two when he does so?

I think the back 3 will be how we line up next season, with the youngster from Red Star that we signed in Jan to come in at RB for Konsa when we need a tactical change.

Oh you can, he is awful and some of the stuff he came out with a few seasons back he felt like a club puppet

    Havent watched him since then

I agree I think his is terrible, he just seems to shout a lot.  I tried listening to his but couldn't.

FTLOPM & Claret & Blue are my favourites.

  20. Earlier in the season we used to play slow, slow, slow then bang hit them with some pace when attacking which was effective.

Currently we seem to be lacking the explosive end bit and our moves just carry on being slow even in the last 3rd which is resulting in us not being able to create many chances

  21. I think we looked far more balanced when Konsa went to CB and Cash went to RB.  Having both full backs as an attacking option just seems to give us that bit more when going forward but doesn't seem to (or vs Everton at least) comprise us defensively.

I also think it should be Youri plus one other as the players supporting Ollie now hes back from injury against these teams trying just to defend against us.  He is a little bit cleverer than the other players we have up there currently.  Bailey should be the other player up there, however it looks like he could do with the break we've got coming up
