Aston Villa under the new UEFA rules would not be eligible to participate in Europe, is it any wonder why we have a sell to buy policy?
No Phil, it cant be a reason like that, or because of the recession, or due to the fact that we never manage to fill the ground so we can get the revenue in that we need.
It's because Randy doens't trust MON with the money, however he is happy to keep him on as manager in the mean time, surely that is obvious?
Of course he doesn't trust him. Everyone knows that Randy was the brains behind the A. Young, Milner, Downing, Petrov, Cuellar, Dunne, Warnock, Collins and Delph deals.

Steelers cuz I live in Pittsburgh, but I'm more of a Pitt Panther and college fan mainly because I have on good word the NFL is fixed to some extent so that pretty much ruined it for me.
Care to explain? I fail to see how the NFL is 'fixed'

My mate of a mate of a mucker says we're currently in talks with Fulham for Dickson Etuhu with the possibility of cash + Sidders. Just waiting on the managerial position to be sorted first.
IF true I wouldn't expect more than 4 million cash to go along with Sidders. Probably a slight upgrade but he would definitely add some bite in midfield.

Nice to see NRC playing!

Morning General,
Just wondering if you and Randy will be attending the Baltimore Ravens v Cleveland Browns game on December 26th at the Cleveland Browns Stadium?
Fancy taking a Flock member along for the ride?

Why does everyone keep saying 'unhappy player'?
Milner has NEVER hinted or said outright he is unhappy here. All that is ever mentioned is that he wanted to talk to City. If he is looking for trophies then I don't blame him. Lets be honest, he is more likely to get a trophy at City than at Villa at the moment isn't he? Yeah he might play a bit part, but he might play first team. We don't know.
The point is, the guy has options. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to stay here if City don't meet Villas valuation. He's hardly tried to force a move has he?

Looks like its over Man City depsite all their money, have failed to bully us out of our player. This is an important message to other clubs who might also attempt the same strong arm tactics.
Make no mistake about it, Cooke will be scratching his head over this one. lol. Well done MON and the rest of the management team, you play a mean game of poker. £30m or .... off!
I concur.

"Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill believes Man City have offered final bid for James Milner "
I hope he is sold now as if he stays he'll be half price next summer...
I can't see that on the site.
-
I agree with that. I'm just saying it wouldn't be the end of the world if it did happen.
-
I don't understand the "he wasn't bought so he'll need help" part. But I definatly agree that SWP would hold up Albrighton's development.
There's no point us buying a winger this window. We have 2 established Prem wingers and one who can be gradually brought into the team this season.
Let's use the "Milner-Fund" to buy a central-midfield replacement, a RB and a striker (Or two of the three).
Then what happens if (God forbid) something was to happen to either of the first team wingers?
We'd drop Albrighton into the deep end...
Is that really what you would expect of a club aiming for the champions league?
You are more of a gambler than me!
So you would like us to buy SWP?
So we'd have one of SWP/ Downing/ Ash on the bench. What a waste of money.
I'd much prefer us to spend that money on Ireland and have a quality first 11 with less-experienced subs than to have a weaker first team.

Works for me.

I'd say that one thing O'Neill almost undoubtedly is is ambitious, myself.
according to what? buying Heskey in Jan 09 when we needed a top striker to aid our CL challenge? buying nobody last Jan? Please enlighten me
Ambition is tempered by the realities of the situation you find yourself in. This Jan for example, it's pretty obvious we'd not got the funds for players one way or another. You may have noticed that's hungover to now.
I think O'Neill has the ambition to do things and succeed. He may go about doing so in his own way, but if he wasn't ambitious I don't think he'd be in the current job. It's just something you can tell about the man, and sometimes what he says.
It's clear now that his foremost thoughts are of realities, but I daresay he's still has thoughts of achieving a lot. He just, currently, can't.
You agree that we have no money? I have been saying this for some time but other people seem to think we have a bottomless pit, therefore we should be looking to do the Milner deal quickly in order to generate funds as well as selling off other fringe players.
He doesn't act like he has ambition with his speed in the transfer market and ability to get things done and prepare for the new season.
So to you, ambition is dependant on how quickly you resolve issues?

I chose Cup
Simply because it is the more realistic option.
If we did get 4th we'd only disappoint in the Champs League anyway. Probably wouldn't make it to the group stages.

Three different people and the bottom right is Lucy Pinder so he has done well indeed!
I was just concentrating on the pic with Tebow in it, Lucy Pinder is a bonus

SSN are now saying we have hung him out to dry. Errrr what
This being the same SSN, along with the same newspapers that ever since Man City expressed an interest months ago have always refered to Milner as ‘Man City target’ or ‘Milner, who looks likely to playing to playing is football at Eastlands next year……..is total bolocks…….yet another show of poor journalism.
It's bollocks really. I flippin' hate the media sometimes. Just drumming up more trouble.
-
Giants - with a soft spot for 49ers
That is not allowed! Although this year at Wembley I shall be supporting the 49ers.
Can't bring myself to cheer for the Broncos and Tebow. Even if this is his girlfriend.
-
Milner has made it clear that he would welcome the opportunity to complete a switch to Eastlands, with Villa's latest offer of a new deal turned down point blank.
That contract would have made him the highest paid player in the club's history, but money is no longer an issue.
****, LOL.
-
Oh, great.
Football can **** right off for me at the moment.
This in a big way. Bring in a **** salary cap FFS. Lots of team sports around the world have. No, the Sky 4 and FA wouldn't allow it. Bad for the Asian market.
I agree that a salary cap would be a great thing.
-
I have a feeling that IF Milner were to leave for between 20-25million, then MON will buy a player that non of us thought we would go for. There will be much rejoicing, but then the player will flop and MON will be branded a failure at transfers once more.

I don't see how people have come to the conclusion that his 'silence means he is going'.
The guy has had a long season, he had a long World Cup, and he is now on a well deserved break.
If you guys were in his shoes and you were relaxing on your holibobs after a busy year, and your work kept phoning you up, I know exactly what you would do. Switch your phone off and wait until you got home before turning it back on. (Unless you own your own business >_>)
We have 3 or 4 days until he is back, we'll see what occurs then.

*does a sex wee*
Get that checked Dante. Never check the speculation thread on a loaded gun
It's a rookie mistake

--------Petrov-------Flamini--------
Young-----Sessegnon----Downing
---------------Gabby----------------
I'd be happy with that.
-
I'll be buying the black away kit and the purple training top. Sorted.
-
Kallstrom is on a free, and he'd be an amazing pick up for us if we could get him. He's like Petrov, but younger and faster. He can slow the game down and pick a pass, he can tackle, and he can shoot.
He is not on a free. Has atleast two more years on his contract with Lyon.
Last I heard his 4 year contract ran out this year.
His contract ends on 30.06.2012:
Sorry, but I think i'll believe an NUFC blog site before that one :winkold:
