I also recall you suggesting Ivan Toney when he was at Peterborough.
What a sensation he is turning out to be.
I said in December 2019 Andy before we signed Watkins in (summer of 2020) and Brentford signed Toney as his replacement.
Also my June 2020 post:-
QuoteStill waiting from @Villan4Life to give me the lowdown on Ivan Toney on what makes him a good potential signing. He's failed at Newcastle and has 1 good goalscoring season in league 1. Can you give me a player appraisal as to why he would be a good player for us?
My Reply to @Mjvilla:
QuoteHe's got a lot of potential, knows where back of net is, and has a good attitude.. Sometimes it takes players a few season's to forfill that early potential. He was young at Newcastle when he signed from Northampton.
Just my opinion he could do well and is a good player and can keep improving.
An example: Back in 1992 Andy Cole wasn't wanted and got sold by Arsenal to Bristol City for just £500k and he ended up having a great career..
Some player's just need time to improve.

I understand the gems are harder to find, hence my comments of lowering the odds by a couple of Marquee signings.....We have to aim higher, with those crucial positions the club identifies with.
I never use stats when i scout for players Paul.
I'm able to judge players at any level based on the club i'm working for,
Also a variety of factors including the FA 4-corner model that are more important for me to find out a players potential and character that don't require any computer stats.
We don't get any stats when looking for youth team players i previously found few players for Crewe. The scout that found Jack Grealish in Solihull (Jim Thomas) used his eyes and his head to suggest him to Villa.
Unfortunately, i read he never got paid a penny for finding Jack or Callum O'Hare and number other players previously for Villa's Academy.
Traditional scouts like him are now a dying breed for these analytical scouts with their degrees.
QuoteJack Grealish has surprised the man who brought him to Aston Villa with a signed shirt for his birthday.
Jim Thomas first discovered Grealish on Tythe Barne Lane playing fields in Shirley almost two decades ago.
he former Villa talent-spotter has watched on with pride as Grealish has made a name for himself in the Premier League and worked his way into Gareth Southgate's England plans.
And Grealish hasn't forgotten the man who kick-started his Villa career with the pair still keeping in touch to this day.
Thomas has celebrated his birthday this week and Villa's captain marked the occasion by posting a signed shirt to go with all the other Grealish memorabilia on the scout's shelves.
"I went down to Highgate United and Jack was playing, under-eights.
"There was a lady walking around with a push chair, a pram, and it was his mother Karen and I said, 'I've come to have a look at your son, would he like to come to Villa?'. She puffed out her cheeks and said, 'I'll say he would!'.
"What happened then he'd go in twice a week at Bodymoor and he's never looked back. His family are marvellous people, they took him all the time."

Can you send him some highlights of the 7-2 against Liverpool, just to rub it in?
Wasn't person i sent it to.. As he asked me send some suggestions as part of project and he passed my suggestions onto the club.
The scout who sent it to them had previously suggested a 13 year old Jadon Sancho to Man Utd in September 2013 when Jadon was still at Watford at time and Man Utd said "No"
In March 2015 Sancho signed for Man City.
He sent my suggestions to Stuttgart FC who said emailed tell him "not interested"

Eze showed enough today for me to suggest he is going to be a very good player. Might be the right time to buy him before he is out of reach, Zaha might be a bit of a knob, but he is the kind of player we need on the right.
To be fair to DS, if we had got Wilson, i think he would have made a lot of difference.
Eze is a very good player. I've suggested him a lot on Villa Talk this last few years.
I suggested him to via a contract at P.F.S.A Scouting Association to VfB Stuttgart in December 2018 on a project i was asked to do for joint P.F.S.A & Stuttgart FC on The Best "Championship Players with Potential".
I also suggested to them Ezri Konsa & Ollie Watkins (both Brentford) at the time.
VfB Stuttgart came back via our contact (An ex Man Utd Scout) and said that they wasn't interested in the player's i suggested.

Is Buendia for £40M worth it and should we be making him a priority target?
If not, what’s your shout(s) for the RW/RF slot this summer?
Buendia is 100% worth going for at £40mil.
24 year old Japanese Attacking Midfielder/ Right Winger Daichi Kamada (Eintracht Frankfurt) is having a great season is one we should monitor. 5 goals and 11 assists this season in 30 League appearances. He's also scored 6 goals in 16 games in Europa League.
His playing style is very similar to Jack Grealish.

Daryl Dike is a talent. My mate Josh a scout at DC United has been raving about Daryl for over a year.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/africa/56373222
QuoteDike, 20, only arrived at Barnsley on the last day of the most recent transfer window - but such has been his impact in the Championship that the BBC understands there has already been an approach from one of the big six Premier League - Orlando City have reportedly turned down a $10 million bid.
He has scored three goals in seven league games - the most recent a thunderous game-winning strike against Birmingham City on 6 March that drew an enthusiastic compliment from teammate Jordan Williams.
"Daryl has got a rocket of a right foot. I think he's similar to Lukaku. He hasn't scored as many goals yet, but he can hit a ball just as hard," Williams told the Yorkshire Post newspaper.
"He's only 20 years of age. It's amazing."
Dike even had the chance to face Chelsea: he played 59 minutes in Barnsley's 1-0 FA Fifth Round defeat to the Blues in February.
Dike's loan deal ends on 21 April, when the MLS season starts and Orlando City will recall him. He has a $20m release clause.
While Dike took part in January's US friendly against Trinidad and Tobago, he is still eligible to represent Nigeria and has refused to make a full commitment to any of the two countries.
"When you're younger, you're always sitting there, thinking about international, and I know I've had my siblings play for Nigeria," he told ESPN in November.
"And I know I have the opportunity for Nigeria or the USA if I get the chance. But right now I just kind of play my game. If either/or comes, that decision will come when it comes."

I would certainly hope we are looking to the Championship and below for our new full backs to challenge the Matts, there must be some talented youngsters coming through that would be able to come in and provide good back up/ push for starts. I dare say you even have some suggestions!
Sure do mate:-
RB - Omar Richards (Reading)
Pity Harry Pickering (Crewe Left Back) signed for Blackburn as he is a good player.

Currently top scorer in League 1 with 14 goals.

22-Year old Crewe Winger Owen Dale is player for Villa to monitor! I really rate him since first saw him play few season's ago.
He had a really good game and gave Matty Targett a hard time when we beat Crewe 6-1 last season in Carabao Cup.
He was League 1 player of the month for December
7 goals scored so far this season in League 1. He scored 4 goals in December and assisted 1.
https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/13889587/owen-dale-crewe-alexander-championship/
QuoteOWEN DALE believes Crewe can win back-to-back promotions to the Championship.
Alex have had an impressive first half to the season in League One following their promotion last season.
They host Ipswich this weekend just four points behind the play-off spots.
And Dale, 22, who is enjoying his breakthrough season, has played a big part with his brilliant performances on the left flank.
Asked if he believes Crewe can get promoted again, he told SunSport: “Yes, definitely. At the start of the season, the manager instilled a lot of belief into us and set out his stall – saying, ‘We’re not looking to just survive in this division.’
“He thinks there’s enough talent in the team to go on another run. We’re starting to believe in that ourselves.
“Around the dressing room, there are a lot of performers and as a team we’re doing well – especially with the new lads that have joined us this season and if we keep going as we are we will definitely have a good season.”
Dale is one of the latest players to come off the club’s famed production line that produced stars such as Dean Ashton, David Platt, Rob Jones, Geoff Thomas, Craig Hignett, Danny Murphy, Robbie Savage and Neil Lennon.
And he has had to be patient – waiting for game time and being sent out on loan to play non-league with Altrincham to Witton.
That is now being rewarded with a string of fine performances – including a purple patch December where he netted four of his seven goals this season and claimed an assist, winning him the SkyBet League One player-of-the-month gong.
He admitted: “When I was sent out to places like Witton and Altrincham I didn’t understand why I was being loaned out.
“Maybe it’s part and parcel of still being young that I didn’t realise that it was to help me grow as a player, understand the men’s game.
“I wrongly assumed they didn’t want me around the first team and that I might have to start looking elsewhere fearing I was going to be realised.
“But I had a good chat with the gaffer and he explained it was to get game time in a first-team environment.
“Non-league wasn’t always the nice football we play here. A lot of it was long ball but I had to learn that and adapt quickly. It taught me a lot – much more than playing in the under-23s. I am so grateful for that experience.
“I learned how to win matches, the tactical bits and bobs as well as the physical aspect – how to use my body in certain situations.
“Also I learned what it takes to last 90 minutes when you’re playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday.
