In July 1994, England Under-21s midfielder Mark Draper became Leicester City’s first £1M player when he signed from Notts County for a Club record fee of £1.25M.
Joining Notts County as a nine year-old, he became an apprentice in 1987 and made his first team debut as a 17-year-old in a third tier match against Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1988.

He was key member of Neil Warnock’s side, which gained back-to-back promotions in 1990 and 1991 to achieve top-flight status before being relegated in 1992.

By this time, Mark had become an England Under-21s international. He spent two more years at Meadow Lane, playing for the Magpies in the 1994 Anglo Italian Cup Final at Wembley.

In July 1994, he moved to Filbert Street to join Brian Little’s side, which had just won promotion to the Premier League.

Notts County valued Mark at £2.5M, so the case went to a tribunal, which set the fee at £1.25M.

Mark only stayed at Leicester for one season. His impressive performances resulted in him being called up to Terry Venables' England squad.

However, City struggled in the Premier League. Little, who left to manage Aston Villa in November, tried to sign Mark in the January transfer window but Mark agreed to stay at Leicester.

That was on condition that he would be allowed to leave at the end of the season if the Club was relegated, which they were.

Consequently, in July 1995, Mark signed for Villa for a fee of £3.25M. Mark stayed at Villa Park for five seasons, when they were consistently a top-six side.

Additionally, they won the League Cup in his first season and regularly qualified for Europe. He was also called up for Glenn Hoddle’s England squad.

In January 2000, he went on loan to Rayo Vallecano prior to moving to Hoddle’s Southampton in the Premier League for a fee of 1.25M in July 2000.

By this time, though, injuries were beginning to take their toll, leading to retirement in December 2003.

Vaguely but funny you should mention that as we were just arguing here about something that nearly happened in '95. BL signed Savo, Draper and twatgate but his 1st choices were Danny Blind, Les Ferdinand but we can't remember the midfielder or was Draper his 1st choice anyway??? Anyone know?

    Draper first choice @Phil Silvers

Little made him the first £1m+ player (££1.25mil) for Leicester when he signed 1st July 1994

Signed for us on 1st July 1995 exactly a year later for around £3.25m

Crystal Palace look to have a clear path to sign Said Benrahma from Brentford after their major rivals pulled out the race to land the winger.

Aston Villa and West Ham had also been keen on the 25-year-old but their interest has faded in recent weeks.

According to The Sun, that leaves Palace in line for a £20million swoop for the Algerian, with the London club keen to avoid going into a bidding war.

Benrahma has been a star at Brentford since joining the club two years ago, proving key to their march into the play-offs last term, but has ambitions on moving up to the Premier League having settled in London

With Palace having recently landed another talented forward in Eberechi Eze from QPR, Roy Hodgson's side are hoping picking up the best talent in the Championship that could help them avoid a Premier League relegation battle this term.

The Eagles' from plummeted after lockdown to leave them in the lower reaches of mid-table having previously been fighting for a European spot.

But while the potential arrival of Benrahma does mean more attacking options on the wing, it does put pressure on the future of the likes of Andros Townsend.

Should the finances fit, the Eagles may even be tempted to sell the former England international in a bid to freshen up the faces at Selhurst Park.

The report also claims another star could be on his way out of the Eagles dressing room, with Club Brugge lining up a £10million swoop for Christian Benteke.

The Eagles got their Premier League campaign off to a perfect start on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Southampton.

  7. I remember reading a newspaper story about Watkins when he helped get Exeter into 2017 Play Off Final.

He had never been to Wembley before as growing up his mum couldn’t afford it.

He was absolutely proud to be playing at Wembley and also going there for his first time!!

    Stuff of dreams.

The first one is essential to Cobra Kai the two sequels, not so much.

The 3 Producer's Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald and Hayden Schlossberg have said any character from Mr Miyagi's universe inc Next Karate KId (1994) will be potentially in Cobra Kai

This may sound like a daft question but would you have had to have seen Karate Kid to watch Cobra Kai?

Watch First Three before watching Cobra Kai.

Then you will get it more.

Also watchj Next Karate Kid with Jilary Swank came out 1994.

She's going reprise her characterr of Julie Pierce in a later season.
