Interesting how it was said Mings injury was worse than Buendia yet he has progressed quicker to this point.

Has he progressed quicker? Buendia has been training at bodymoor for some time I thought.

Shockingly I'm actually going to defend Ollie as his linkup IMO has come on leaps and bounds and he's having deft effective touches that I've never seen him do before.

Yesterday, the second chance I find it difficult to criticise him for. He got a good contact on what was a drilled powerful cross, while under pressure. Few inches either side of Onana and it's in.

The first chance I think he should have done better with though, he should have been more aggressive, blocked off the defender (Dalot I think?) and got to the ball before Onana had chance to close the angle so much.

my feeling as well. it looked an easy chance but hes arriving late, the defender is favourite and its a reaction shot. Makes great contact, keeper just in the perfect place. Just not our day, thought Ollie was great in better the boxes, just not good enough in side them. Can probably say the same for the entire team.

The club are definitely looking at shuttle bus services - the problem at the moment being the movement of busses once they get close to Villa Park and the time it takes for that first mile on the journey home.

At the moment, if they were to put busses on, the best way they'd have to get people out and underway in the quickest possible time would be to have those busses pick up either on the bus lane near Aston station or at somewhere like Perry Barr one-stop - that's a rubbish solution, but the problem is that if you were to run a shuttle bus from the North Stand car park, it'd take you twenty-five minutes for it to get to Aston station or to the island at six ways - finding ways to get busses in and out of Villa Park is the difficult bit.

It's the same with taxis, if you're headed to the city centre once you've walked far enough away from Villa Park to get to a place where taxis can move at any kind of speed, you're already halfway there.

This for me is the problem. A bus typically holds 50 fans, a round trip to anywhere meaningful after the game is an hour. So we need to dream up 100 buses to shift 5000 fans. Costs and availability a huge issue I imagine.

I'd actually prefer him he FULLY fit and us go through a little more pain before trying to rush him and ruining the rest of the season.

Same, short term pain, long term gain.

Hes not match sharp, lets introduce him in a sensible way and get him back for the c20 games weve still got this season in the league and europe. The United game will not define our season.

Well last time he had a half hour run out he got re-injured so we can only hope he was being deliberately preserved.

hes got to play eventually though? If hes not able to be risked for 30 minutes on Wednesday, hes probably not playing 90 minutes on Sunday.

  6. Appeared late for half time yesterday and then went through quite a rigorous warm up. i was convinced we were about to see him introduced and surprised he didnt get a half hour run out.

Id be really surprised to see him come in from the cold against United.

And Cash gets all the blame...

i dont think Cash covered himself in glory, but really what is he supposed to do. He was so often 2 on 1 with no support.

My feeling is that Unai has often taken Bailey out of the team for this reason. Great attacking output but no defensive discipline.

  8. I think he gives the defensive stability you don't get from Bailey. I'd be starting him every week while we don't have Konsa. Cash was completely over ran on the right.

With news that Bailey is about to sign a new contract, I wonder if this is a way in which we’ll be able to help reduce our FFP?

Bailey’s amortised fee is about £6.25m per season, with about £9m remaining, so let’s say he gets a new 4.5 year contract, that amortised fee will reduce to £2m a season (albeit with a probably slightly higher wage).

We can do similar with Buendia, who has about £17.5m of his fee remaining, so we could go from £7m per year to about £3.5m per year.

Just a thought, and maybe perhaps why the club seem to be quite relaxed about the reports from Ornstein that we need to sell by June 30th to comply.

You also need to factor the wage increase. A few million a year more is still. A few million a year more. We cant afford to bloat the wage bill either. I wouldn't consider a new contract for Buendia

Despite all the worries about the defence (who weren’t good), it was our midfield that really stank the place out. Looked tired, not up for it, slow to the second balls, and too many missed passes.

Very odd performance, not much fun at all.

I thought the forwards (Bailey, Tielemans, Watkins… Diaby when he came on) actually played ok, unlucky at times not to get something.

Didn’t think it was a foul for their FK, but great strike nonetheless.

I was really disappointed in Bailey, I don't know where he was supposed to be. Cash was getting over run against Chilwell and Jackson and he didnt ever appear to help. They really do not play well together

He was absolutely brilliant last night and Youri should have played him in for what would have been a relatively simple finish from 15 yards.

That said, was noone else really **** off that he didn't take his chipped shot against the post (that mcginn finished) AROUND the keeper?

The keeper was 15 yards off his line and Ollie should have just had a touch and finish.

Very critical I know, but that's the kind of thing that gets you 20 goals 😎

Yeah I was screaming at the time, go round him. That or follow your own shot in.

Plus it’s also their arrogance that they can get players cheaper because players will force moves to their clubs….delusional!

Just made a similar comment on another thread but you could draw parallels with our pursuit of Rogers. We all do it.

Just wish he had not said that nonsense about bigger teams. It kind of hangs on your mind a bit.

I wouldn't worry, you're reading an article from an agent. If you read any article from anyone elses agent you'd see similar.

It's also unfortunately is honest and reflects the football pyramid. Morgan Rogers made a few similar sounding comments in the week.

Some clown just voted average for emery after a 5-0 thrashing 🤣🤣🤣

I assume it's because those fans wanted to see us be ruthless.

To be honest though that was a very mature performance From Unai. At five nil we got the team to step back. Conserve energy, no risk to injury, be ready to go again. Ollie Watkins at the end had barely broken sweat.

Kamara still worries me. He's had yet another match where you can see his quality in terms of reading the game but he's played several poorly executed balls and generally looked a little sloppy in possession at times.

Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted with this and it could seem like focusing on a negative for no reason, but it's one of my concerns in terms of us being able to maintain a top 4 challenge.

I'll be honest, I was thinking he'd been unbelievable and hasn't got out of second gear

  16. I wonder if he was already off to Plymouth before be brought him, maybe that's why the deal happened so quickly. Odd for this deal to wait for deadline day.

I had this as my son's turned 21 . I was able to reallocate it to an adult ticket using my laptop. The app wouldn't let me (that I could see).

Had to take the tickets out of my basket and start again though.

Thanks mate, this has saved me an hour wait in the phone queue. Once I'd selected my seats, I could click edit seats and change the type to an under 18.

    Virtual pint to you.

Think he may have a bigger future than that tbh

I hope so as well. But an unlinked youngster coming in with no acknowledgement reminds me of Azaz. No mention from Unai and probably straight out on loan, wondered if it could be another signing they think they can turn a profit on.

Plymouth loan? The new Finn Azaz!

Jokes aside he could be the new Finn Azaz. Rated youngster who we make a profit on and loan out.

  20. Went to pay for mine and sons tickets, he's got an under 14s season ticket but turned 14 this month. As a result it won't let me allocate him his under 14 ticket, it also won't let me change it for any other type. Guess I'll be joining the phone queue in the morning
