  1. Spurs spent £16M this week. They spent that on one player in the summer and they're fourteen points behind us.
  2. Nah, thats slightly OT. The posts slating MON for attending a football match were really OT
  3. At the start I thought we'd sign two players and I'm sticking with that. 8)
  4. Hi General I was reading a Blackburn message board, seeing what there view of the game was, and there were a couple of posts regarding the stadium. Obviously we're aware of the work thats gone on at Villa Park but it's great to see that 'outsiders' also see the improvements.
  5. Best of luck to the Browns, General. Great to see the hard work paying off and both teams showing progress.
  6. Merry Christmas General to you, Randy and your families. I hope you have a great time and all you wish for in 2008. Thanks for the immense changes that have happened at villa. We are making definite progress and it's a joy to see.
  7. 10% off anything bought in the club shop, I don't know whether it includes online. Claret & Blue magazine Yearbook Free entry to reserve games I think thats it
  8. Hi General I hope your back is better. A question about the new website, which I think is a definite improvement on the old one. On the results page it's possible to go back and see results from 2001/02 onwards, are there plans to eventually put the rest of the seasons results on there? I appreciate that this would take some time and obviously it wouldn't be possible to do match reports and game by game tables for the majority of seasons but it would be great to be able to check results from any season, especially for overseas fans who may not have access to the books on Villa available here.
  9. General With the rugby World Cup final, between England and South Africa or Argentina, kicking off at 8.00pm next Saturday a lot of fans, me definitely included, will not be able to get back from seeing us beat Man Utd in time for kick off. I presume the Holte Suite be will showing the match after the game but is this only open to season ticket holders, and the numbers will be limited. I've noticed that theres a mobile 'revolving' screen sometimes in the car park behind the North Stand. Is it possible for this to be sited behind the Holte End making a 'fan park' with all supporters being able to buy a pint in the Holte Suite and enjoy the game. As a season ticket holder I'll be watching it in the Holte Suite anyway if this isn't possible but it would be great if the club could help as many fans as possible see what could well be a historic occasion. Also it may help stop large numbers of supporters leaving with ten-fifteen minutes to go, so they can get home for the kick off.
  10. General, the opportunity to communicate directly with a member of the board is amazing and I keep having to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming. You could never be described as "just some Yank".
  11. Our results compared against the same teams last season sees us eight points better off and with a far superior goal difference. 21 (-6) this season compared with 14 (-20). This doesn't, naturally, include results against Watfoed, Sheff Utd or Reading as we didn't play them last season.
  12. General, are there any plans to get more, if not all, of our reserve games played back at Villa Park? As a kid my first Villa games were watching the reserves, my old man wouldn't let me go to first team games because of the hooliganism that was around at the time, and while games are played in Walsall we may well be losing a chance to let younger, or less affluent, fans the opportunity to get the Villa 'bug'.
  13. I just think some might be a bit concerned about reading (maybe reading too much in to it) about the likes of West Ham getting 3 players that might had helped us and the only signs of us signing anything, apart from Defoe at a hotell , is that MON says we'll have to wait. Which sounds too familiar. Don't expect any riot. People are entitled to be a bit concerned and I think it's very much down to us having that old idiot at the helm for far too long. And that goes without any further discussion wether he was awful or not. Towards the end of the month maybe but it's ridiculous to be concerned when it's only the 5th of the month. If the club were making statements about who we were after there'd be people complaining, rightly imo, that we were showing our hand. Do things the right way and there's complaints that there's no sign of us signing anyone.
  14. I hope everyone connected with Aston Villa has a great New Year. 2006 was a very difficult time to support this great club but I truely believe that this time next year we'll be in a far better position than now. The hard work being put in by Martin O'Neill, the players and all the board and staff of Villa may not be bearing fruit immediately but I have no doubt that it will. These are exciting times and though the road will be rocky at times we are on the move to better times. Happy New Year and UP THE VILLA!!!
  15. Thanks for taking time to keep us informed General. Thanks also for the season ticket deal for the Watford game. I'll be bringing four mates to the game, three of which will be seeing their first live game. Hopefully it won't be their last match at Villa Park I hope you Randy and the board have a very merry Christmas and all you wish for in the New Year.
  16. General I went into the Tourist Information Centre in the city centre at the weekend, to get some information on an event being held at Aston Hall, and noticed they had a display of souveniers and merchandise from our local rivals but nothing at all from Villa. I don't know whether that's down to council bias or just that it was an opportunity missed by the previous regieme but as this is, obviously, somewhere that visiters to our city are likely to go, it's a valuable chance missed to introduce them to Aston Villa and showing them the best the city has to offer. The information centre does sell tickets for theatres and concert venues, would it be possible to have them sell tickets for Villa also, or at least have leaflets etc that would let them know about the club and the location of the Villa shop and ticket office in the Pavilions?
  17. Hi General It's so good to have Mr Lerner, yourself and Martin O'Neill at the club and I hope you all appreciate how pleased we are with the way you are going about the business of rejuvenating our club. I've been talking to a friend in Glasgow and apparantly there's reports up there that Petrov is slightly unsettled and his wife hasn't taken to Birmingham. Do you know whether there's any truth in this or is it just the media stirring things up. Do the club play an active part in helping players and their families settle into the area? When Juan Pablo Angel first joined the club there were a lot of reports that things weren't handled very well and I'd certainly like to hope that side of things are being dealt with better now.
