  1. Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon admits the club would listen to offers for Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Kenyon confirmed The Blues have received an initial enquiry from West Ham for the winger although no official bid has been lodged by the Upton Park outfit.

Wright-Phillips has failed to hold down a regular place in the Blues first team since joining from Manchester City in the summer of 2005.

The England international has started just 15 matches for the Stamford Bridge club in that time, and Kenyon admits it is a frustrating scenario for the player.

"There's been an official discussion but no offers tabled. Clearly Shaun wants to play football," Kenyon told Sky Sports News.

"We've got no plans to sell any of our players because we've got our squad for the season but if an offer came in we would have to look at it.

"But that's not to say that we'd do it - we're still at the very early stages and right now see Shaun as a member of our 24-man squad which is what we need to see the league and other competitions through."

  2. I have heard Roeder linked with every freaking player from here to Timbuktu. I wish the belgravia group would put them both out of their miseryand let the codes slide to the Fizzy Pop.

Scott Brown who was tagged in September as a possible MON target is being reported as eyeing up a move to Rangers for 3M. Does any one have any news or rumours that Villa are still interested in Brown ?

Newscastle United - what a way not to run a club. I'm very confident MON and Lerner wont run us into the ground a la Shepherd and Roeder.

  3. This is a very 'robust' appointment. Lerner is looking to boost the perception of aston villa globally - more fans, more money, more sponsors, therefore attracting great players.

    The good times are back

  4. the data makes him look very much like petrov, so if we did buy him it would be quite crowded in the centre of the park. saying that, manu manage to play rooney, scholes and a defensive midfielder - and they're top of the league.

i reckon we should purchase him - it would be a great acquisition and would start to give us strength in depth

  5. Dear General Krulak

Can I just say how positive it is of you to take some time to post a message on Villa Talk. We have been quite jaded of recent having to tolerate a chairman who didn't want to listen to the ambitions of hundreds of thousands of villa fans. We're a very patient fan base who don't expect things to change overnight, but every football fan I speak to agrees that Martin O'Neil was the best signing of the summer.

The general feeling surrounding Aston Villa at the end of last season was pure disillusionment. We had a tiny squad that was hampered by injury, and couldn't even find £1.5m to keep on James Milner. I suppose this had something to do with the fans voting with their feet and opting not to attend home games. Having a chairman who was so bloody minded that he wouldn't even allow any memorabilia of our European Cup win in 1982 was unforgivable amongst the fans.

What I can say now is that the whole team and fan base is visibly lifted. Of course the 'honeymoon effect' has something to do with this, but we all believe that something great is being built here and good times will return to Villa Park sooner rather than later. From a commercial aspect we can also see that the executive management are ‘thinking big’ – I’ve always thought we’ve undersold ourselves to investors and sponsors. If your sales director role ever becomes vacant – please contact me!

All the best, and up the villa!

    :D

  6. i really do think we should stick with 4-3-3, get rid of baros and buy a strong striker a la koller to compensate for the 'light' wingers.

    so;

    one striker

    left winger

    milner

    RB and LB

I reckon £25m should do the trick

If we get a left winger and a left back, where do you propose to play Barry? Centre midfield of a three with Petrov and McCann?

i dont see him as a winger - more a left sided centre-mid. and i think we'll piss him off playing him at left back

  7. so what does this mean about taylor??

That he doesnt have what it takes really....and Taylor wasnt MON´s choice...it was a buy from DOL that seemed a little bit surprising by many. So...he wasnt anything else than a short term deal for a backup.

The only way that I can see MON go back for Myhill is that he has a "buy-back" clause. I dont think that Myhill is such a big goalie that MON cant find a better player to compete with Sorensen. I think this story isnt true tbh.

we need a world class goalie to take us to the next level. not sure who though.
