  1. General, I would recommend that you remain out of contact on hush hush maneuvers at the present time. Life here in the midlands is going on happily, it's only the fraught world of internet users that is getting in a twist. For what it's worth I'm firmly in the camp of the "sell the players that are clearly not going to play for us although they are earning considerable wages," and only buy a new player if he is so good that he is going to play a very important part for Villa. Otherwise let's use a few of our very talented young players to develop an exciting footballing team over the next few years. If it means that we don't achieve much for a couple of seasons then that's fine by me. Regards to Randy and I look forward to seeing you at Villa Park next season.
  2. The fans haven't turned on him, only a few hyped up internet mainliners so far.
  3. Stezz, that's old news now. LY turned down L'pool because he didn't want to move his family further north, although the real reason was probably that L'pool were offering £10,000 per week less salary.
  4. He's still a Villa player lads, and all you've got to fuel your hatred so far is totally unreliable fansite ITK.
  5. Wash your mouth out!! Go back and edit his name with asterisks for Gods sake! Oh sh*t! I've just realised that in quoting you I've left his name indelibly imprinted on VT even if you do go back and edit. Oh the shame of it!
  6. That means you neatly avoided comparison with St*ve F*ck*ng H*dg*
  7. Ask General Krulak, if you refuse an order in the marines you don't get a weekend pass you get locked up. Mon is no less a General of his own troops.
  8. I don't believe this for a minute! If Milner refused to play then Randy and Mon are both big enough to consign him to the reserves for the next two seasons. "No transfer for you!" in the slightly changed words of a Guzan orientated commentator. A load of rubbish imo!
  9. I`d be very surprised if this was true. and me! I can still add up even at my great age and MC currently value Ireland at 11 or 12 million, that makes an offer price of 32/33 MILLION for Milner. Man C are daft, but not that daft. Ill agree with both points, you are old and your maths is spot on :winkold: Cheers beasley, you're not wrong unfortunately! I`ll buy you a pint at a game if your there often for that cheap insult Let me know a time and place and theres one in I might be old but I've got a memory like an elephant, so I'lll hold you to that. .
  10. I take your point Reality, but Randy's point to Mon is that wages are already too high. Randy isn't short of 25 million and he could easily have given that to Mon but he hasn't. It's not cash that he wants, it's a sensible, manageable wage bill.

  13. Sunshine, it's you that coming on strong with the insults. You have your first competitive match in just 12 days time: I (and others on here) said many weeks ago that the worse case scenario for Villa was a long-drawn out situation which would lock your transfer dealings in limbo-land. A frozen transfer strategy is part of the price Villa are paying for holding out for 30m. If you are going to support the 30m hold-out, then you might at least accept the reality of the damage and risk which comes with it. But no, it seems you choose to stick your head in the sand and the pour vitriol on me for when I say that the tide is coming in and has already drowned much of Villa's transfer window. So carry on pretending that City don't hold most of the cards in this situation .... it's no skin off my nose. Whats keeping your transfers in limbo land then Glaston? Value for money, and that doesn't happen until the panic at the end of the transfer window these days. Even the mighty cockerel has to get value for money eh GS!
  14. The Milner cash is the key to nothing because Randy will not allow Mon to increase the wage bill. (RL's right imo)
  15. Theyre getting new owners soon, have a couple World Class players, are more attractive than us and will no doubt be dipping further into the transfer market. I wouldnt get so excited as we've stood still. seems as though we could be heading in reverse imo..a massive lack of investment is going to **** us up.maybe Randy should seak outside investments for us if he hasn't got the cash to push us on.. That is insulting to RL! He has the cash, but he also has a very good business brain and is determined to put the club on a very sound financial footing. Your kind of comment Fran is that of a fan who wants everything now and doesn't give a damn about what that might do to the clubs future. Wrong, imo of course.its the truth though,if Randy cant sell the Villa name world wide, as a force in the league through signing players that are good enough to win us things we will never move on,everybody around us at the moment has been able to out do us in the transfer market,i know it does sound very selfish on my part about Randy but unless we can spend 15 or 20 million on a player we will never be up there.and the likes of Barry/Milner know that.I take your point about 15 to 20 million pound players, and I think that Randy would happily stump up the money for an Ozil or Muller. What I think he is less happy with is the purchase of average players on inflated wages. I think the way forward for Villa is to target one or two top players a season while bringing on our talented young players. Forget the players that other clubs don't want to keep.

I wouldnt get so excited as we've stood still. With the talent we've got coming through, we're going forward at exactly the right steady pace.
  18. They are a good team and it doesn't hurt to say so. Have you ever played beach soccer in 90 degrees against a bunch of locals after a great night out the night before? If so did you win?
  19. It was our second match in a steaming 24 hours which is a fact and not an excuse for not being as sharp as a rested Benfica team. I think that if we had played Benfica as a one off game at VP then we could make a valid judgement on the performance. To dismiss Villa in vastly unfavourable circumstances is more than slightly unfair in my opinion.
  20. Did you watch last night? Yes I loved it! Jabulani ball flying all over the place, 90 degees fahrenheit in old money, and our second game in 24 hours of sweltering heat against a top team who had just had a rest day and were of course used to the conditions. I had a cracking stream as well!
  21. I don't think that James Milner knows how to play half hearted football. If he stays with us he will be busting a gut for the next two seasons at least unless a satisfactory bid comes in for him.
  22. Well, yes (if MON sticks to the 30m figure), but only at the cost of all the damaging factors I cited. If that's a price Villa is willing to pay, then so be it, but if so then IMO you'll end up worse off as a result. You seem to base your premise on the fact that we actually want to sell Milner. We didn't want to sell Milner in the first place and there is at least a chance now that he will remain a Villa player. If he does go at least we will be fully recompensed for our loss. If he stays then that would be a result for me.
  23. I hope the saga continues unresolved until Sept 1st.
