Jesus....nearly 600 pages on possible transfers, not a player signed yet! I'm guessing this thread will top 1200 page by the start of the season. To be honest I don't think any of us are any wiser as to our targets. funny old game as someone said once.....

**** West Ham, when push comes to shove I doubt we will lose out on any players to them. The new training ground, MON and the proffessionalism of Villa under Randy will outweigh what the hammers can offer, IMO. Boruc, Luke Young, Defoe, Distin and one out of the blue signing will move us on nicely.

McCarthy would be class but pretty sure hes chelsea bound, if rovers agree to sell. Would prefer Defoe to Bellamy...not a cue to re start the Spurzzz debate.

Lots of good points, league table isn't great by any means however all across the club things are improving steadily, for now I'm happy with that.

Totally agree. I loathe them as much as the nxt fan, but if they and albion /wolves come up it would add interest to the season and midlands football scene. We have nothing to fear from them, if anything it will strengthen villas resolve to reach the top. Bring them on, we should relish derbies, proper ones, stuff Cov, Derby,Leics etc they aint derbies.

Gattuso is highly unlikely, but with all thats going on behind the scenes, its getting a little less unlikely all the time. Be bloody fantastic tho eh!

Think MON has shown he will not tolerate lazy, uncommitted, underperforming players. Pretty sure any players he goes after will be well aware of this. NRC would do well for us IMO. So would Diop, Sidwell,Appiah, Gravesen or Barton.

Be more than happy with them on top of Ash and Big John.

Don't know why, no inside info etc, just a gut feeling, but I think Sidwell will join in next few days, may even be at press conference tommorrow. Just a hunch, not seen him driving in/out of anywhere, not spoke to him on the phone, and my cousins mate doesn't work for Reading, just a hunch. If/when I'm wrong...bite me.

If MON could persuade Defoe to give up his part time job at Hoars Cross Hotel, we'd really be in business..

Diop, Carew and Taino- be more than happy with them in addition to Young and Bardsley. Think we might gat a loan striker as well if Baros goes in Carew deal, just to add cover for Sutton in case of more injuries and to give Gabby a rest. Prob wrong tho.

Two more I reckon, a forward and midfielder. 2 forwards if Baros goes.

Top post, agree totally. As for confusion, the hype surrounding MON and Lerners arrival swept many along on a wave of euphoria and relief, me included and gave us a false sense of where Villa truly stood. I doubt MON or Lerner were fooled at all and I trust they will restore the club to where it ought to be. It will take time however and I think the majority of fans understand that.

General, I'm sure the vast majority of fans understand how hard all you guys are working behind the scenes and massively appreciate it, those who are getting twitchy about the transfer window/players in etc are used to numerous false dawns in our previous era but they will come round. Its great to have passionate and innovative people in charge of the club.

Don't believe for a second we have bid £12M for Bellamy, think he would do a good job for us and would like him here, but even with Jan prices, why should scousers double their money on him in 6 months- he hasn't done that well there. £8M tops forIMO, if the market really is that crazy pricewise, I'd be happy with few quality loanees and start properly in the summer, better than being financially abused by Liverpool, Charlton,Watford etc. Just because we have the money now(assumption-but thanks Randy) lets not go mad in Jan sales when we know other clubs are taking the piss. Hope Watford and Charlton go down as reward for their blatant greediness.
