Waiting to sign players is frustrating, that said I think MON is right to walk away from negotiations when clubs ask stupid money for a player. I rate Young from watford but to ask 9mil is stupid,as is Bent at 18mil. A fool and their money are easily parted, Randy and MON are nobodys fools.

Seriously, I can't believe how negative some of the comments on here are. Comments from MON and from the General on here have repeatedly stated that we will be/are working hard to bring players to the club, yet not a week into the transfer window and some of the comments border on the downright stupid and naive. Get a grip and have some patience.

Barry to Spurs wont happen, hes not gonna leave now after deciding to stay in the summer. On top of that he would cost a fortune, wouldn't swap him for Keane + Defoe. Quiet day on the transfer front for this to resurface. Chill, wont happen.

If Harewood does come, and he is a MON type of player, it would suggest we have some wingers lined up as hes pretty useful in the air, and whatever I think, MON knows a hell of a lot more than me so I'll bow to his btter judgement. Interesting times..

Would be a very quick move if he comes, be happy with him tho. Good shout on McBride, not the name we crave but solid addition to the squad, but isn't he around 33-34 yrs old?

Really hope its not harewood, Ferguson would def improve the squad and when settled the team. Would be happy if its Ferguson and SWP, can see MON signing Harewood, the new Heskey? Marlon if its you, please prove me wrong very wrong.

If they valued him at about 3-4 mil, with add ons, appearances, etc yeah I would, think he may come back to haunt us tho, but SWP would def take us forward and we need him more right now.

Don't think Cahill will go to Chelsea, hes developing well here, and has every chance to make himself a regular, seems to have overtaken Ridge lately. Would be gutted to see him go, love to get SWP tho.

Would love Bent and Barton, combined fee of around 11-12M. It'll be difficult but I'm positive for the sales.

When I wake up on Jan 1st with a hangover and (maybe a random lovely young lady nxt to me) I want to see Villa all over the tv, having signed a host of quality players, or I will not be happy. Fickle, Impatient....maybe a little.

I think we are in a similar situation to Man U where when Fergus took over, we are not where we should be, and admitting that does not make us losers, we all want to get back to where we believe we should be, but you have to earn the right to be competing at the top, not live off the name Aston Villa. Ellis made that mistake, believing players would come just because we are Aston Villa, it doesn't work like that anymore. Wake up. With the new board/ manager I think we will get back to being genuine challengers, but it ain't gonna happen overnight. At least we are moving forward now,for the first time in way too long. We are a great club with fantastic history, no disputing that, celebrate it, enjoy it, talk about it, but we know that because we love the club, talented players from around the world probably don't, so realistically that means we have to move forward step by step. This does not make us losers.

Earnshaw, please God no! Poor, Poor mans Defoe. Don't know why, but I have a sneaking feeling we are going to make a move for Beattie, just seems like MON type player, lots of potential, lost his way and a strong old fashioned centre forward. Just a hunch.

Head says a draw, but got a sneaking feeling we may just snatch it. As for the unbeaten run, can't see it as anything other than positive, not a weight on the teams shoulders.
