  1. Ah that would have been good mate. Saw one brave lass there in a Villa shirt. Me and my daughter who was running as well gave her an β€˜Up the Villa’! How did your missus get on?

I've wanted to improve my fitness for some time now but I always get exercise induced migraines with anything physically strenuous, it really puts me off.

I also get that really sharp pain when breathing in during cardiovascular exercise which I've read is caused by cold air restricting the airways as we start to breathe through our mouths rather than our noses. I usually end up gasping for air after five minutes lol.

Has anyone experience these things as well?Β

I first started Couch to 5K about 8 years ago. I was monumentally unfit and about 18 stone. The time I did the first day of the first week, I ended up puking my ring up after about 10 minutes. I couldn't even bend down to tie my shoe laces without wheezing and being out of breath. But just build up slowly and gradually. C25K is great, and once you finish it and can run 5K without stopping, you can use that as the building blocks to go forward. Fast forward 8 years I'm now in my 50s, 5 stone lighter and absolutely love running. I'll probably never be that quick at the longer distances, especially nowhere the times the likes of CV on here can achieve, but I'm happy gradually improving and just getting out there. You'll also find that running is a brilliant social sport, and just about every runner I've met has been sound.

So was Eastlands in Manchester. So was Anfield in Liverpool.Β

This is the point of wholesale redevelopment.Β

Anfield still is, not sure what your point is.

Imagine both - a new stadium built at our home - that would be the ideal surely?

No, not for me I'm afraid. Aston is an absolute shithole, with very few redeeming features.Β

It's a lot to get your head around

On the other hand, imagine scoring the goal to win a game in front of 60,000 people in a new stadium, that wins us the league. Or being able to buy a drink or go for a piss at half time.

  6. Given the company involved, and the background of the individuals appointed, this is very strongly pointing to NSWE looking at a major development, ie huge multi use development with a new stadium. Hopefully that's what they're planning, anyway.

It is, but we all still have our own ceiling that no amount of training will take us beyond. I'll never run a sub-3 marathon however train.Β

Without knowing how old you are and anything about injuries etc, I reckon you probably could, it'd just take an awful lot of hard work and your life might not be able to accommodate that, I know mine wouldn't. My aim is to get down to as close to a 20 minute 5K as I can. A few years ago, I was stuck around 28/29 minutes, but all I did was run 5Ks. Once I started trianing properly and constantly, the times really started coming down.

My Paris Marathon was a failure. Unfortunately I was ill but thought I was ok. Stomach wasn't good and basically none of the energy gels were being digested.Β

Had felt good at halfway and then around 25k knew it was not going well. Went downhill after that. Had to stop and walk 4 times to complete it.

3h28m in the end quite a way off last year 3h18mΒ

Have decided to look at redemption in October with one of Marathons up north or possibly Dublin if I can find a way to get entry.

I’d absolutely love to β€˜fail’ that quickly!

It all depends on how much potential Unai sees in him. He could easily still view him as having high potential.

I don't think there's much chance of us keeping him, and neither should we. When Buendia and Ramsey are fit, they'll be competing with Rogers for the same sort of positions on the pitch. Zaniolo's not getting a game ahead of those three.

Nine goals in his first fifteen games this season in League Two was some going, very rare for a young attacker to make that kind of impact at League Two level, I don't know if this is accurate but I saw it said that the last player under twenty-one to score more than fifteen goals in a League Two season was Ollie Watkins, Barry was well on course to beat that. Strikers are also notoriously late developers, see Watkins, Kane, Toney, Wilson, and so on, not saying Barry is going to be as good as those players, but I wouldn't be so hasty in writting him off, if he'd have stayed fit this season and continued to do well I think good chance he'd have got a Championship loan next season and would be playing at that level at the same age Rogers was at the start of this season

Harry Kane got 21 goals in his first full season in the Premier league, aged 21. Other than that, fair point!

Just a bit of an update because I haven't posted in here for a while now, following that run to Villa park exactly 1 month ago I've only been on one run since then, my hip basically said "nope"Β

I'm going out today because I feel pretty much repaired now, I think I have to face up to the fact that no matter how much weight I lose I'll never be able to run large distances because of my shoddy hips and knees, I'm going to start off today with a short 2.5k run and see how my hip is and then slowly increase, if I can get up to running 5k regularly and comfortably I'll be happy with that.

In the last month I have stalled a little bit but overall I've lost just over 5st and the end of this week marks 6 months since I started so I've done fantastic, I've got no doubt that I would be a fair bit lower than what I am now but I've had a few things on over the last few weeks that meant unavoidable food and drink, I don't mind that at all though, I've gotten over the guilt of a treat now, I'm still only having a takeaway once every 2 or 3 weeks and outside of the few days when I've had to socialise and see people I've pretty much stuck to the plan.

My target is another 3st and then I'll be looking to maintain rather than lose so I've still got a while to go yet.Β

Congratulations on the weight loss mate, keepi it going. As RDS says below, maybe look to do some exercise that's less hard on the joints than running, until you get the final 3 stone off. As you get closer to the target, you can start upping your running. 3 stone is still quite a bit to be carrying if you're hitting the roads, imagine putting 21 bags of sugar in a ruck sack and jogging around with that on, it's all going to impact on your joints, ie back, hips, knees and ankles. Once you get down to your target weight, as you rightly say, start at a relatively easy distance like 3K, then increase that gradually up by about 10% a week. I properly knackered my ankles and back a few years ago by trying to run too much before I'd lost weight, but now with the wegith gone it's much, much easier. Try to mix in some strength and conditioning and mobility work, it all helps massively.

Was very sensible to do what he did last night.

People won't like to hear it but we were very likely to lose regardless if Bailey and Pau started.

It was a free hit and an ideal game to rest some players.

    Have to prioritize Brentford.

Brentford are absolutely shocking away from home, 9 defeats in their last ten games. We should easily be capable of stuffing them. Torres and Bailey had played one game after a two week break.

  13. There's no guarantee that 5th will be enough though. We'd probably have lost anyway last night, but the team selection, especially without Pau, practically guaranteed it. The side that finished the game was an absolute shambles.
