  1. I agree with the whole boggies being too arrogant thing. They're getting a bit too big for their boots at the moment. Yes they've ground out some decent results, but now to claim that only Benteke would get into their squad is laughable. The fact is, they're still living in our shadow, regardless of recent table positions, but now they're all genuinely starting to believe that they're the 'big' midlands club. I really hope we give them a proper spanking and put them in their place.

  2. Now that we're a bit further into the season, I reckon 12th is a pretty likely outcome, give or take a place either side, maybe. Anything higher would be a bonus but I think that would be a pretty fair progression from last season, although my acceptance with finishing in that position depends on who's above us...

  3. I remember watching the obligatory YouTube compilation of Helenius and being really excited about him, and I still am. To me, he's always looked pretty comfortable on the ball whenever he's come on as a sub. He had a good pre-season too and showed a lot of promise, so I hope he gets his chance with a start some time soon.

  4. Definitely up there as one of the most improved players this season. Looks a lot more comfortable and has turned out to be a hell of a lot quicker than I thought. 4 clean sheets this season isn't bad at all so credit to Ron and the other lads at the back for stepping it up.

  5. I don't mind a player having a go from a distance if there's a) no other option available and b ) it's on target. The frustrating thing about Tonev's shot yesterday was that he had options either side of him, and Benteke was in acres of space and would probably have buried it from where he was. It's funny how he tried to be the hero in that situation when he would have been if he'd have just passed to Benteke (assuming he scored), because that was a great block to win the ball in the first place. That said though, from what I saw from the first half, that was really the only thing that he really did that was terrible. Apart from that, he seems to be settling a bit more and his games are getting better. He has some very useful attributes, it's just a matter of game time to iron the creases.

  6. This couldn't have came at a better time as, hopefully, we'll have a full strength squad fit thanks to the break (apart from the long term absentees of course). At the start of the season, I was really looking forward to playing the baggies because we started so well and they looked a bit crap, but lately things have evened out somewhat as they've hit some form. I'm a bit nervous about this one, but we're capable of nicking it. 2-2 or 1-2 I reckon.

  7. He'll come good for us. He's a completely different type of player to Benteke as he needs a lot of service. But, as he showed today, if he gets the service, he'll score. He can't have been top scorer in the Europa league without knowing where the back of the net is. I think his hold up play and creating chances will improve the longer he's with us, but if we play with a bit more width and whip more balls into the box then I'm sure he'll get a few more. Did okay today and its good to see him get another important goal.

  8. Only managed to catch the first half. Very strange game. I think we started very well, then it all went very flat. By the sounds of it, the second half seemed similar. We still managed to grab the 3 points though, which is massive considering that we're by no means firing on all cylinders. Good to end the goal and home clean sheet droughts and a nice way to finish before this short break. Hopefully we'll have a full strength squad by the time we play the baggies so we can get a nice little streak going.

    Well done lads, UTV.

  9. I'm quite excited to see him back. Don't get me wrong, I'm aware of his anonymous performance and sometimes laziness when considering his wages, but very occasionally he can be the difference between winning/drawing and losing a game. He's another option for us and is still a threat.

  10. I must admit, I might start to worry a bit if we don't get 3 points from this one. They've had a win and a draw and we're surely due a win, so hopefully the law of averages should work in our favour  :P . Hoping we line up very attack minded as they don't have anything huge in terms of threats. Delph's return will help to make things happen and I can see Gabby's pace giving them problems if he's back too, and of course, they're gonna have to keep a very hungry beast quiet. We have a good opportunity to sort out our home form a bit so it'll be a massive disappointment if we throw this one away.

  11. Another frustrating performance. Yes, it's a point away from home and a clean sheet, but 4th game now without scoring is worrying. The 2nd half was better, but the creativity isn't really there, which we could really do with when the counter attacking isn't working. West Ham's defense is strong, but I guess it just feels crap in the light of our past 3 results. Hope the Cardiff game will end our goal drought.
