  1. 4points from the last 9 games and we still managed to stay up by 5 points and 12 goals difference. We had enough points after the Chelsea game. How bad have Hull, Albion Norwich Cardiff and Fulham been not to have finished above us. This has been a hard season to live through and because the finish last year was on a good run, 15th this year feels so much worse. We have 5 or 6 players we can retain, Guzan, Vlaar, Okore, Delph, Westwood and Benteke, add Grealish and Robinson and that's your lot. Massive changes needed for next season.

  2. In many takeovers/buyouts there is a part of the existing business that is classed as Goodwill and is taken on by the new owners. Lambert may be the Goodwill as Lerner will not want to leave him high and dry if/when he sells.

  3. This has been brought to a head by non footballing employees complaining to the clubs HR department. Football may have a culture of industrial language and intimidation but the normal workforce will have different contracts and rights regarding how they are treated and behave in the workplace. If the BH2 are deemed to have bullied, swore at or intimidated a non footballing member of staff that's gross misconduct and a dismiss able offence after a hearing of the evidence.

  4. I'm sat in a bar in Prague and O thought I'll try the free internet and read a bit of VIllatalk and WHAM all Hell's let loose. I've only been away for 4 days and the clubs turned upside down. One thing though I feel more confident about Saturday's game

  5. Lambert won't be leaving and there' nothing on PF's statement to suggest he will, but PF is right we need to stick together and all of us who love the villa and are able to go on Saturday have to give total support during the game, even if it' going badly because turning on them will not end welli

So pissed off with Lambert today. He has no idea has he, undefendble today bringing Sylla an Bennett on, what the F*** was he thinking, as if they are gonna defend us a 0-0 draw.

Westwood was clearly injured. Can't blame him for that.

Bennett was a baffling sub though.

Baffling? A left back for an injured left back, common sense I'd say. Sylla is the baffling one, an injured midfielder replaced by ancart horse, never a footbaler in a million years. As soon as he came on we were rubbish.

That upsets me as it would probably mean Lerner isn't selling up this summer.

Or Lerner has all but officially sold up, convinced the new owner into keeping Lambert and is giving assurances to Lambert that he will have a job when it all officially goes through, or has a big pay off if he is replaced :)

Jesus, do you write for the beano?

Not sure if this is related, but on my iPhone I was able to use the app fine up until three days ago. Now no threads are shown at all. When I go to browse I just see the circle loader animation. Nothing ever appears.

I've cleared cache, uninstalled and re-installed and the problem remains.

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread.

I am having the same issue on iphone .. I deleted the app and re-installed it but same problem remains

That's either bloody good service or co-incidence but it's working again now. Thanks

Twitter guff but might brighten the mood up a bit on here

@OnlyUseMeTips: BREAKING: Aston Villa and PSV agree a fee of €12mil for Memphis Depay. Just personal terms left to discuss. #AVFC #PSV

Arsenal were looking at him. I think they've got Arsenal and Aston Villa mixed up!

I'm hoping to do the same tomorrow night.

"and sadly there were no cameras there!" There were cameras there Mike the goals were shown on the local news the following evening. My understanding was that the tape had been recorded over or not kept by Central although I think John Lerwill might have once suggested that there might be some hope of that clip turning up again and how if it did I am sure we would all like to see those goals go in again.

"So we did Liverpool 5-1 in 76 and again in about 79 I think ??". I think not CI. We beat them 3-1 on 16/4/79 with goals from Evans, Thompson (og) & Deehan and then 4-2 on 19/9/92 with goals from Saunders (2), Atkinson & Parker. There is no other 5-1 against them but we did have another 5-1 beating Arsenal by that score on 25/4/79 with goals from Shelton (3) & Deehan (2).

Didnt know that John and dont remember the news next day - I was probably still drunk!

Real shame there is no televised record!

I still get goosebumps remembering that first half display. An abiding memory was the sheer sense of awe amongst the crowd at the end of the first half!

Spoke to John Deehan about it a while back and he said the team were on a high for weeks afterwards!

yes remember the 5-1 against Liverpool. I think that was the half-time score as well. We just ripped them apart. We did the same to Arsenal and a few other teams that season. most exciting Villa team ever. Cropley and Mortimer in midfield, Gidman right back and Little, Gray and Deehan up front.

I think ITV or ATV as it was then just had cameras to cover one game and they normally went to derby at that time.

That's correct. Derby were playing on the same night and Trevor East who fronted Central's soccer was/is a Derby fan and the cameras went there. There was never any footage of that game.

  12. Stephen Ireland leaving will have no difference this window tbh, whilst he is on loan at stoke, there will be an agreement in place that they pay a % of his wage, if he leaves permanently we are liable to pay up the remainder of his contract

Not if he leaves on a free transfer. Stoke want to sign Guidetti on loan buthave their full quota already. So they sign Ireland permanently and loan Guidetti.
