Where have all the people gone that said "we wont go down" ,"there is no chance that the teams below us can all pick up enough points to cathc us". well, here we are, hovering right above them with a absolute shocking fixture list. Im sorry to say it but really think we could be one of the favorites to go down now. QPR look like they have clicked, Bolton have found some spirit, Wigan going to go on a run like they did last season towards the end of the season, whilst we keep rolling over and having out belly tickled.RELEGATION is very much on the cards now lads.
Lerner, your a f##king prick, as far as im concerned you deserve everything that is coming your way. Premiership experiance, meh.... what a f##king joke of an appointment and you havent even got the balls to rectify your decision... Gutless Tw@t.
And ANYONE who had already renewed their season ticket, Well, bigger the fools you!
I still don't think we'll go down, in face we'll finish where we are now and QPR,Wigan and Wolves will go.
I've also renewed my season ticket because I support my team whatever division they are in, having experienced Division 3 for 2 seasons.
I may be a fool but I'm a claret and blue fool, not a fair weather one.

Why do you think we'll beat Chelsea? You do know Chelsea are an "elite club", right? That means we won't try and defeat will be acceptable.
Good point, maybe we won't then.
-
Looking at the next set of fixtures, it will all become clear after that. By Sunday evening we will know whether this can be moved to other football or not.
You don't seriously think we'll get a point (let alone 3) against Chelsea do you?
He means that QPR are playing Arsenal, Wolves are playing Bolton, and Wigan are playing Stoke.
You'd expect Arsenal, Stoke & possibly Bolton to win, which would pretty much rule us out of getting sucked into a relegation battle.
Not that we had much chance of that happening anyway.
QPR will beat Arsenal, Wigan will beat Stoke and Bolton will beat Wolves and Chelsea will beat Villa
Chelsea are playing Benfica either side of playing us. I think their team selection will be interesting and tomorrow's first leg result will have a big bearing on that. I think we'll beat Chelsea 1-0.

Before the Wigan game we were 7 points ahead of the bottom three, today we're 8 points clear with a game in hand. Our situation has improved.
Before the Wigan game today we were ten points clear of relegation, we are now 8 points clear, our situation has slightly worsened.
How did you arrive at that conclusion.
PL Pts
15 Aston Villa 25 28
16 QPR 25 21
17 Blackburn 25 21
18 Wolves 25 21
19 Bolton 25 20
20 Wigan 25 19

You never know. I was just ploughing through the results at speed, and that was my "worst case scenario" outlook. Bear in mind that that's still with one game to go.Yeah theres no way we'll get one win from Bolton, Sunderland or Stoke at home
I had us as narrowly losing to Stoke, drawing against Sunderland with the Bolton game still to play (which I would have put down as a win).
Amazing!!! We're doomed then. When was the last time we went 9 games and won 1 point? Even during MON's mad March debacles we did better than that.I suggest if you're that bothered by it, instead of getting sarcy you could simply do your own **** one.
I have thanks and it's a lot more level headed than the one you did.
-
Is what I get, with a few games left to play. 15-17th.

The main objective today was getting 3 points which we did thankfully.
Going forward the Board needs to decide whether keeping Eck as Manager is going to be the right thing to do for the Club.
If the answer is yes then they need to fund the correct signings required to strengthen the team if that is possible.
Alex McLeish still has a mountain to climb if he is to get supporters on his side, It is a near impossible task,if he achieves it we will all be happy!
When there are people like Trent Villa refusing to offer praise to him when we win, what chance does he have. If he keeps winning matches opinions like TV's become irrelevant, let's hope for the sake of the club he can follow this win with another against Bolton.
-
Meh! This win hasn't changed my opinion of him. The result returns a much needed three points, but we were 30 seconds away from equalling our worst run of results at VP in 90 odd years.
The crowd were ready to snap near full time, but the goal released that pent up anger as pure relief. He's dodged a bullet this time.
lets face it he could win the league and it wouldnt change some people's opinions of him
i was hoping that mcleish actually getting things right for once would stop the moaning for 10 days at least...guess i was wrong!
one win does not a good season make!
No it doesn't but it's a win we were all desperate for and we got it so perhaps we should enjoy the feeling for a short while.

I've just got back from the match and had a read of the match thread. Some of the posters on there are either insane or comedians. The last poster wrote that a robbery has taken place!!!!. I can't believe anyone in their right mind would say Villa weren't the better side. There is no better time to score the winner than the last minute and the reaction of the Villa fans around me in the Holte was mental. Mcleish's subs weren't popuar,, but they never are, but it was Bannan's pass, Gardner's shot and Weimanns following up that won us the game. The moaner's can continue with their negativity, tonight I'm going to enjoy what it's all about, winning football matches.

Good enough for what? To stay up, I would put my house on it. How are 3 from the bottom five going to get 18 points when they all have to play each other and top 5 teams. That's a monumental turnaround.
Good enough for Aston Villa, no it's not, not by a long way.
-
This time last season Small Heath had 30 points from 26 games!
We currently have 29 points from 26 games!!
They ended up with 39 what point are you making?
-
I think John Barnes summed up the playing style when he said McLeish could get away with playing that style at SHA but you can't at Aston Villa.
-
i love the way people keep saying "Oh we wont be relegated because the teams below us are doing shite this season"
Yeah thats right but to be fair to them if we were mid table we would be saying "A team with that record deserves to get relegated" HERES AN IDEA...... SO DO WE !!!
And they are all to blame not just Lerner despite his money is not enough to be a chairman of a premiership club.
Eck who would be more suited at Crawley Town.
Faulker - "The Puppet" and a useless and embarrassing P.A at that.
The players well some i suppose with their attitudes in match play although Ireland's FU is only the way everyone feel's about Mcleish.
And yes im pretty certain the main reason he joined Birmingham will merely be financial reason's and the fact Villa are a bigger alub than Birmingham.
So that's a considerable upgrade compared to last season and being at the bankrupt club.
Team's can pick up points anytime and that includes's club's below us so YES going off the garbage football which is so poor i don't watch it anymore we can get relegated and quite easily so.
Their's team's who are use to the relegation battle's as to where we are not that experienced but i have a strong feeling were going to be under the stewardship of Eck.
If villa get relegated it will only be what they deserve and Lerner deserves for the rediculous appointments made.
Man City didn't fuvk about after Hughes so they only wanted to appoint quality instead we go for one has been and the other who only serves up relegation for club's and has no decent record.
Had you just got in from a night on the piss when you wrote this. I's a bit of a ramble and doesn't make a lot of sense. The concept of a league is that the bottom three teams go down regardless of how crap the teams above them have been. It's the same at the top, the team that comes first are champions, it doesn't matter if it is with 96 points or 66 points. We have 29 points with 12 games to go and an 8 point gap in our favour. Last season we had 33 points with 8 games left and a 1 point gap. I would say we had a lot more to worry about last season than we do this. These teams you refer to who are used to relegation fights are Wolves Wigan and Blackburn I presume. Well in the last 8 games last season we got 15 points, Wigan 12,Blackburn 10 andWolves 8. So it would appear we had more stomach for the fight than they did.
-
I was told to expect some pretty bad figures and yes can't argue with them ! They do include the McLeish compensation to Brum aswell ! Will we spend in the summer yes got no choice or otherwise we would be in pole position to go down .
Do they include the McCleish compo though? When did we appoint him? These figures only run until May 31st so from my reckoning exclude, McCleish expenditure and also the income/savings on young and downing, plus wages for them and NRC etc!! Am I missing something?
No, I reckon you're right. I don't see how any of the above can be included.
-
Jesus 12m charge for changes in management personnel....
Houllier, McLeish all worth it look where we are in the table
I don't think the McLeish fee is included in that, doesn't the Financial Year run from June '10 to May'11.

QPR won't keep losing, they have attacking quality and a decent defence, they can definitely catch us.
Wolves looked much better at the weekend and score goals, if they can stop letting in simple goals, goals from free-kicks, they can catch us.
Wigan are always better towards the end of the season.
We're deep in shit.
Can't score, can't defend, can't attack.
Unbelievable analysis, all of a sudden 5 teams who can't muster a point a game suddenly have attacking quality, Qpr have scored 2 less than us and Wolves the same number. The difference is neither team can stop leaking goals, that's why they are adrift with the other three. None of the teams below us have won more games than us, we've lost 9 games, Bolton have lost 18 out of 26, Blackburn and QPR 15, Wolves and Wigan 14 and now with 12 games left they are all going to perform like Sunderland!!!!. I don't think so! Yes, it's been a crap season but we are not getting relegated. A bit of realism is needed not this pessimistic baseless analysis.
Blackburn away lose
Fulham home draw
Arsenal away lose
Chelsea home draw
Liverpool away lose
I think we will get two points from the next 5 games, by the time we play Stoke at thome we could be right in the mix for relegation
The Bolton game is back on after the Fulham game, so take out the Liverpool game and let's say following your theme that we only draw, that's 3 points, we'll be on 32.
As you've got Blackburn to beat us I reckon they'll get 6 from there 5 games, 27. QPR to get 5 points from 5 games, 26 points, Bolton to get 1 point off us and 1 more from their other 4 games, 22 points, Wolves to get 5 points from their 5 games, 26 points, Wigan to 3 points from 5 games,23 points.
Even if our results go the way you predict it's still going to take a massive turnround in performance for three of the bottom 5 to overhaul us.

I did the BBC predictor before the Wigan game and I had 32 points being enough to stay up. We finished on 40, 2 wins 6 draws and 5 defeats. Nothing happened in fixtures to change that. In fact we are better off today than we were before yesterdays games.
-
A nil-nil bore draw at the DW, out-passed and out-possessed by Wigan.
Heady days
The BBC are showing possession at 50% each
-
Its the Championship next season for us Does RL even know that sides get relegated in the Premier League?
Unless they've changed the rule to more than six teams getting relegated we won't be one of them. Another game gone another point clearer of the bottom three
-
Can't cross, can't beat a man, can't put over a decent corner. Can't tackle, gives away stupid fouls.
-
We need to find a fighting spirit and build up the confidence
You won't find it in this thread!!

Ellis would never have allowed us to become the laughing stock we are now.
Oh he did, we were worse than we are now under McNeil.

Of the bottom six teams who's position would you rather be in? I think you would choose ours as having the points on the board is a massive advantage especially with only 7 games to play. I also think you may be getting confused between realism and pessimism.
