    Play Lyden instead

Sanchez, Gestede, Hutton, should be back in contention in 2 weeks time, maybe Grealish, and Clark could come back in. The team needs a shake-up, but quality is low in supply.

When your team loses 6-0 at home, you're entitled to boo whoever the hell you want.

You pays your money ..... but during the game, I'm not so sure singling out an individual for the boos is right. People around me booed his every touch after their third goal and he just got worse with every touch. It's counter-productive, player's don't improve being booed they get worse and get booed more and get worse and round and round it goes.

Just no fight in the Villa hierarchy.  Everybody understands not to spend big, everybody understands the difficulty in signing players in our position but it feels like they have completely given up.  A striker before the WBA game could've made a difference, a couple of games before that even more of a difference.........but no just roll over and die

We now have an accountant running the club with no emotional attachment to Villa and no real interest in football generally. He is here to protect the bottom line for Lerner irrespective of the needs of the team. While Hollis is here we will not spend again.

Thats the trouble we are still using a cheque book ,  when was the last time anyone used a cheque for anything.  How far behind are we!

We use cheques so we can say it's in the post and hope they believe us and let us sign the player.

    Instill optimism how?

    Lying?

They said the chequebook was open and they're actively looking to sign players.

We are now on the 22nd January, no sign of a player, the chequebook must have dust on the first cheque by now. I think we may sign a player by the end of the window, but another game will have gone by.  It will probably be a loan and we'll pay 1 to 2 million for the privilege with our "cheque". With each passing day the quality of the players we are looking at drops, if the cheque book was open on the 1st Jan it should have been used straight away. They had months to prepare it's not like we were pulling up any trees in 2015.

Have all the threads merged or somethjng because they are all starting to sound alike?

Any rumours ? Inside info? Made up shit ? Anything ???

No, nothing, that's why the threads are morphing into one, it's the only topic in town!

The thing is mate the club have to give the fans something to be positive about and they have given us nothing whatsoever

Nail on the head!! Last night was a perfect opportunity to instill some optimism but all we got was the old numbers game of how much we have wasted, the reported transfer fees we got weren't accurate. It's like going on a date with The Smith's, you want to slit your wrists before the dessert arrives.

Are we actually going to sign someone ? anyone ? or are we going down like a damp squib ?

At this rate Remi himself will get pissed off and resigne.

It is a worry, I think he'll wait until it's a certainty mathematically and then resign and I wouldn't blame him because putting in Hollis as Chairman changes nothing on the playing side other than there'll be limited spending and a lot of people at VP will be put out of work.

There are countless footballers who have debt problems etc so I'm not sure it'd be such a great idea to put one on the board. I agree with fox to a degree because like it or not, football is more to do with business and marketing now than actual football. It's an entertainment industry after all, many of our heroes of old would feel out of place in that environment.

We could easily spend loads this month, get relegated and end up in a poo puddle of debt. I don't want the club laboured with a tonne of financial difficulties.

With that I mind of rather have a money man in charge in afraid

My problem with Hollis is it is obvious every time he speaks about the game he is totally clueless. I didn't specifically mean footballer's on the board but people who have been in the game in some capacity, Graham Taylor, Ian Taylor, Brian Little, to name a few ex Villans. We need someone involved who will protect the playing side of things. Hollis said if Remi wants a player and if he is a good fit then we'll try. Who makes that decision? Hollis certainly isn't qualified to.

None of those teams are 10 points from safety.

Most fans seem to think we are doomed anyway, so surely we should be cutting our losses?

To my knowledge spending that kind of money in January has never worked, to do so in our position would be incompetent and **** wreckless. We're in this position because of mismanagement like that.

However I too am annoyed we have not made shorter term, "cheaper" additions to the squad already. They say they are working hard, I believe they need to work harder.

We are in a perilous position, but win tomorrow it looks a lot different, but if we don't do anything in this window we are not giving ourselves any chance of getting out of the bottom 3.

So, do what then? Spend £30m on players and put them on £60k a week?

4 of the teams around us are doing just that, 2 will succeed and stay up 2 will fail and go down. The 2 that stay up will say it was the right philosophy the 2 that go down will say at least we tried. The Villa? We'll never no will we. We just haven't tried, rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Hollis has come in to look after the P & L, the PL can do one as far as he's concerned. As long as costs are cut and Randy's outlay is minimized he'll have done his job. We may as well have Venture Capitalists running the club, because we have no one with any football experience.

  12. Where are B'mouth getting this money from. They fell foul of the Football League's FF, they have gates less than 12k something doesn't add up unless I missed something. They spent a few Bob in the summer as well

billionaire russian owner (Maxim Demin) and russian backers as welll.

but don't you have to generate your income Tobe able to spend?

Imagine the abuse Westwood would be getting on here if he put in a performance like Veretout did today.

He did against Tottenham, thankfully he had to go off, he was worse against Everton.

Do I need to explain that players have positions, assigned by managers, and that managers usually advise players to stay in those positions?

You'll need to explain oh wise one, what midfielder never moves out of his own half. Westwood is not as good as Veretout, he has no vision, can't tackle and can't take a set piece.

  15. 6 minutes ago, ClarrieBlue said: I would guess he had more touches than any villa player today and made more forward passes than anyone on the pitch

Rather than guess, you could look it up. If you did the same for Westwood you would find that, for all his shitness, he does indeed pass the ball forwards. Which people proved on here months ago. No offence, but your 'guesses' based on what you think you saw might not be as accurate as passing statistics.

Rather than pass forward in our half perhaps he could try it in the other half where it counts
