Not quite a hero, but a cultured player, the type I'm more than happy to pay to watch. MON has pushed him aside too soon IMHO, shame on him. Ahh well we shall look to the bright new future, I for one and hope we get a few more cultured players in in the coming years, we win a few trophies and create a few real Villa heroes.
-
how can u say sorenson. He costs the villa points all/every season. I swear some people watch a different aston villa who post on here.
I feel it's a case of the grass is always greener with Tommy, except, we've always missed him when he's not been there, and there are plenty worse keepers about but not too many I rate as being better.
And you voted for who? Why?
-
Sorensen, much underrated by many a Villan. Has made some vital saves and been consistent in front of an inconsistent defence. Well done Tommy.
Edit - Bouma and Mellberg =2nd and Barry 3rd. They've all done quite well.
-
Has to be Gabby, played out of position for much of the season but still comes up with a few goals. Playing up front he looks a really good prospect, just needs to sharpen up the finishing add a bit of close control movement and a better first touch and we've got a good striker.
-
Willy B for me, he's beginning to look a really good LB now. Better late than never.
-
Ferreira is overrated, Mellberg? NO WAY! Glen Johnson? overrated. I cant think of anyone playing in England except for Richards who will be overpriced, and probably would move to one of the big 4. Maybe we should look abroad?
-
Now he says he,s happy to stay at villa, yeah i bet he is sit back and collect his overpaid pay cheque
I don't think that's in his character TBH.
-
Must admit i think its **** cheeky how someone like JPA who has done **** all in the last 2 seasons!
I wouldnt listen to a word that idiot says as he,s been shit for ages.
And he,l still be shite next season to
Where the **** does JPA come into this! I mean why single him out?
-
Players who were unhappy. Well Moore, Angel and Mellberg all came out and say they would've left without a change of manager and they were 3 key cornerstones of that unbeaten run early on. Also out player of the season Mr Barry, wasn't he only persuaded to stay after MON gave him the captain's armband, hardly indicates to me he wanted to stay under O'Leary. Players statement aswell, Sorensen didn't exactly rush to defend him.
I've read those player statements and I think it's a bit of a stretch to say they all would have left if DOL was still here TBH. I think the situation of unhappiness which hung over the club was more down to a lack of ambition being shown rather than a dislike of the manager, but you or I will never know that for sure.
I'm inclined to think that sticking with DOL would have seen us do better this season than we have so far under MON.
-
DOL spent about £13m on 8 players
Who were they again? I can't remember.
The players clearly did not like DOL and didn't appreciate his negative attitude.
Which ones told you that?
Were we not the last unbeaten team in the country? That would tell me that he got his point across to the players pretty quickly.
Why we not doing any better then?

And can I just add...
The players tried to heap as much of the blame as they could elsewhere last season.
They all came out whining that they were unhappy and tried to abdicate responsibility.
Well one season on and what's your **** excuses this time? You haven't got the manager, or Ellis, or the state of the club to blame anymore!
So Mellberg, JPA, and all of the other whinging bastards - how about you come out and tell us that YOU, once AGAIN, have got us into a MESS.
Admit that you're shit and unfit to wear the shirt. Go on.
At the end of the season, I'd line the **** up on the pitch, in front of the Holte, and I'd make each and everyone of them apologise to the fans.
The players were to blame and are to blame. Two managers can't be wrong. It's as simple as that.
I agree, but I don't think the senior players are to blame. I honestly am more inclined to blame the youngsters that have been rushed through to fill the gaping holes in the squad. Players like Cahill, Ridge, Gardiner, Gabby, Osbourne, Whittingham...cuz contrary to popular opinion I don't think any of them are good enough. Not yet anyways, some of them (in my humble opinion never will be).
You can't blame the kids for that, so I'm more inclined to put Ellis up in front of the Holte to apologise

MON is a new manager with new ideas, having to teach his tactics, to players he's never worked with before. It's a huge transitional period we're going through and that's why I believe had DOL still been here we would be doing much better right now especially after an £18 million or so outlay.
-
I believe if we'd have stuck with DO'L we'd be doing better right now.

your media would destroy every person no matter what.
Our media are a bunch of c*nts. Led by the Uber clearings in the woods from the gutter press - they can bear much of the blame for our current predicament.
They pursued Sven out the job, then put the frighteners up Scolari before he put pen to paper, then demanded an English manager, despite the gulf in class between our squad and the available candidates.
Possibly the FA chose McC as the lesser of two evils - as they could foresee the media feeding frenzy around another foreign appointment.
Put Martin Samuel in charge, and when he cocks it up, let's flay the skin from his back.
Excellent post.

Porto's Anderson looks pretty special, but out of our reach I'd imagine.
-
Maybe, I'm not sure - some guy makes them, I just came across it and I haven't really looked at the web site TBH.
-
I just came across this model someone made of Villa Park circa 1962, it's well good!
-
He's a fantastic full back, one of the best in the world he MAY become available IF Man U get Bale. If he is available his reputation as one of the best would put him well out of our league as I'm sure some of the real big guns of Europe would be in for him.
-
Suggestion: Giles Barnes, Derby.

This is what the New North Stand should look like:
This is a massive opportunity to bring the tradition back to Villa Park.
Bring back the brick!
And this is what the stand should look like on the inside, with the Trinity continued around the corner.

Light travels at approx 186,000 miles per second and takes 8 seconds to travel from the sun to the earth. Which is slightly longer than it would take Gabby to get there and back.
Actually it's 8 minutes.
Yep your right, if the sun were that close we'd fry!

Prices go down when they relegate, they just want to get more money in to buy new players.
Interesting to see what happens with Carlos Tevez!
Tevez's contract situation is complicated.

Martin Laursen - 1M (His ability is wrecked by injuries that doesn't justify his wages)
Laursen has only had two injuries since he's been here. The long term one, and the recent one, so, I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and put it down to purely awful luck, rather than a particular proneness to injury.
I think we should keep him next season to see how he goes, another injury ravaged season and I'd be inclined to agree with you.
