For us I mean.

No TRO, these are his unforced errors that I'm talking about. He has to play his part in the team by cutting them out, even by your logic.Ugh, he just keeps making errors that I'd have expected him to have stopped making by now. I'm not convinced and he doesn't fill me with any confidence at all, I'm afraid.Baz the errors, may be coming from a player who's TEAM is making errors as the teams errors diminish, his might too.
I'm more optimistic about this lad, than I once was.

Milner and Young were great signings and well worth the money.
-
I don't think Lambert has 'seen the light' or would even consider himself as having any distinct formula. He won't limit himself with any clichéd notions like 'jam today players'. Football is quite simple, buy the best players you can with the money you have. That's what Lambert will do, and I think he will do it well.

I think Gabby and Bent will start up front. Benteke will come on at some point.

Baker has a chance, but is not ready. Clark seems to still make errors, more so than Dunne I think. Dunne has the experience, which will help the other three. Nothing about the Newcastle game would have caused Dunne any special difficulty. Wow I'm defending Dunne! I need to go for a lay down.Baker ain't ready and Clark has more clangers than Dunne in him.Difference is, Baker and Clark are both young/developing. Dunne is just a mess.

Stefan Moore was a limited player who was never going to make it here in a month of Sundays. His brother Luke isn't exactly blessed with natural ability, but fair play I think his sheer determination has served him well in his career, the lazy tag he got I always felt was unfair.
Nathan is a different kettle of fish, this lad has plenty ability but for whatever reason, lack of confidence or bad attitude you only ever feel he's giving 50% on the pitch.

I'm not a fan, I wanted him gone. But as it stands we have two youthful FB's and Vlaar. I think on this occasion I'd keep Dunne. As slow and as clumsy as he can be, I think his experience will help the others settle. When is he due back?

I've read he likes to attack but that his defending is iffy. On the other hand Lichaj is defensively sound, but it was very noticeable that he didn't get forward at all v Newcastle.

I agree, it's a legitimate criticism, but rather harsh in the whole. It was a performance at least on par with anything last years player of the season has ever produced for us. I wouldn't have him as a winger or a creative player, but that all action role suited him and he played it brilliantly.Whats this he stood off Ben Arfa, if we're being honest as a player you know players strengths, I bet even NUFC didn't think he could do that with his right foot as he's predominently left foot, show him to his right, and to be fair it was a fantastic goal, sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say it was unstoppable. Maybe he could have got tighter, but 9 times out of 10, I'd have let Ben Arfa shoot with his right. -
He needs a decent partner.
-
He's getting better. Did well today.

He should have been closer, but I think you're being a little harsh, 9/10 that's not a goal. It was a great shot. I thought he was good with the ball too.You lot are mental He was a stand out performer for me.Still doesn't change fact, that he let ben arfa shoot, gave him too much room.

He was very good today. Caught everything except the goal, which was unstoppable to be fair.
-
His best ever game in a Villa shirt today. Shame he didn't get a goal.
-
Played really well today. Showed he has a fantastic engine, put his head down and worked his socks off closing down all over the pitch, created the odd opening too. I'll take that all day long, and for free! AM is a genius, welcome to the club Brett!!!
-
Really classy performance today.
-
We were robbed of 3 points by a wonder goal, just like the Everton one against us too! We out fought them, out thought them and out played them for 90% of the match.
Guzan 9 - Very safe hands
Lowton 8 - Getting better
Lichaj 8 - Good defensive work
Vlaar 8 - Solid
Clark 8 - Well taken goal.
Bannan 8 - Good assist
Ireland 8 - Very Good game
KEA 9 - Classy.(MOTM)
Holman 9 - Great Engine
Weinman 8 - Worked hard
Bent 8 - Just needed a goal but good work.
Gabby 8 - Speedy, strong
N'Zogbia 8 - Good dribbling

Yeah 4-3-1-2 could be the one, but I'm not sure about dropping Gabby.I'm interested to see what tactics we play and how he fits in, if he fits in at all. Benteke coming in has thrown the cat amongst the pigeons a bit.I think when everyone's fit, Lambert will go with the 4-3-1-2 he's used recently.
-------- Benteke ---- Bent -----------
---------------- Ireland ---------------
Delph --- Elh Ahmadi -- Westwood
Bennett - Dunne -- Vlaar -- Lowton
---------------- Given ------------------
The 2 wide midfielders aren't wingers, they're acting as central midfielders that will go forward or drop back into the left or rightback positions when the FBs are attacking.
