  1. There's no reason why he can't succeed in the premiership. It's definitely a case of physical prowess over technique with him, but I'd have preferred to add diminutive creative attacking midfielder come striker into the mix of forwards we had.

I saw a bit of lobbing forward to him going on yesterday, it rarely stuck either.

  2. He was fine, but he needs to learn not to dawdle to long on the ball. He got caught out in possession on two occasions of the top of my head, which he can't be doing in our half of the pitch.

  3. Guzan 7 - did ok

Lowton 6 - at fault for the goal

    Vlaar 6 - ditto ^

    Clark 7 - did ok

    Bennett 7 - ditto ^

Delph 6 - tidy but caught in possession once or twice.

    El Ahmadi 8 - class

Albrighton 6 - needs match fitness

Holman 8 - MOTM, excellent work rate

Gabby 6 - some good balls, disappeared a bit though

Benteke 6 - poor control, touch, shooting and decision making

    Bent 8 - excellent finish

    Bannan 6 - did ok

    N'zogbia 6 - ditto ^

Very much a work still in progress, but we're getting better. Defence needs sorting.

  4. Why not play Gabby in Ireland's spot, just with more free reign to play as a striker when required. That way you can play two of Weimann, Benteke and Bent. Delph, Herd, Bannan etc. will still get games.

Deffo - when Gabby's in the form he was in the other night he's not unlike Rooney in the role that he plays, running at defences from deep and bringing in the other striker.

I reckon it's why he thrived under O'Neill's system - he was able to burst forward from deep as we caught teams on the break.

They don't call me the Football Professor for nothing*. I think Gabby's general play is good enough and well-suited enough to do Ireland's job, or pretty close, but with the added bonus of pace and ability to score actual goals. Saying that, hope SI gets well soon, I like him as a player fwiw.

    *or, indeed, at all.

I'm sure Houllier experimented with him in that position in a pre-season, and I seem to recall him being a bit poo there tbh. Houllier then moved him to RB.
  5. How much and to which charity people donate to is their own private business, but I really can't imagine a footballer missing a weeks wages in the same way as at least 95% of the rest of us would.

  6. ...you should note that these players will not see £45k a week by the time the Government has got hold of it. I know they earn atronomical amounts comapred to us but you have to remember it's relevant, they probably have a much higher mortgage, can't be cheap filling Bentleys and ferrari's up at the pumps these days, wags are expensive to keep etc etc.
    not sure if serious.
