Rumours are a bit thin on the ground aren't they in terms of the national papers?
I like a few rumours to keep me going until the real stuff starts.
I think this is why everyone seems to be going nuts on this thread. We need rumours damn it!!

^ we will sign better than Muntari and Distan. The reason we haven't signed them is because MON doesn't want them! As far as you know Naismith could be a better player than Muntari.
-
That's a good question, if the transfer market has not yet opened, how come there are deals going through? Is it like a pre-agreement or something, and if so, should a player change his mind, could he legally back out of that agreement after it has been announced?
I always though a player can be brought any time but can only make the move when the window had opened. He wouldnt be able to change his mind because the deal has been done already.
Is this right?
-
then he will go to the club offering more £££££££££ simple as that
Yeah just like James Beattie did :winkold:
Luckily for us.
-
according to BBC we're in for a £ 1.5 Naismith bid
If this is true then there is nothing wrong with that. No doubt fans will say we shouldnt be buying the likes of Naismith from poor leagues but if MON thinks he can do a job for us and he has potential then we have to trust his judgement.
for a quick example who had heard of Vidic, Solskjaer or even Schimeical before Fergie brought them on the cheap. Look how they turned out.
We have money but still don't need to spend it for the sake of it. We will spend when the time is right.

Would anyone not like Junhinio from Lyon? That would be lovely.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm
I reckon he'd score 5 from dead balls per season.
Id love him at Villa, class act although getting on a bit. I think he scored about 14 goals from set pieces in 1 season once.
i've got it in my head now that this is the type of player we need to sign. imagine having great wingers (young) and a brilliant A-M laying on silky smooth balls for Carew + new striker
Or Carew and Gabby. A midfield with good vision would love playing balls through to Gabby because his pace and movement are superb. We saw examples of this when Berger was back in the team. I can see Gabby scoring a hatful next season with the right service.

My thoughts about Barton is that I think he'll behave himself. Afterall, after the thug attack at Man City he really will be in the last chance saloon and he knows it.
I agree, would be a great signing.
-
Fabiano of Sevilla? where would a player like that fit in. If he was any other nationality he'd be a regular international.
-
This part of the thread has become more pointless than ever because there is no way we are signing Yakubu! no way, never!
-
he has all the attributes of a great forward.
What, no neck and a large slice of wee man syndrome?
who needs a neck when you got so much pace and a great strike.

Why do people keep saying they would be rather we sign Bent than Bellamy as though its been speculated we are buying one or the other. The reality is we have had numerous links to Bellamy and not 1 to Bent.
Bellamy is a good player who would improve our squad considerably and I'd love him at Villa. He may be a tosser but he has all the attributes of a great forward.
-
Have we ever been linked to Bent? just out of interest. As good a player as he is I still feel his name gets mentioned way to much on this thread and I doubt we will ever sign him.
Plus hasn't Bent been out for most the season with injury? For me Bellamy is the better player.
-
But where is he now? Exactly!!!!! My point is a good World Cup doesn't make a player, Ronaldinho had a shit one does that mean we wouldn't have him?
I agree that you cant judge a player based on a world cup but i think the reason we discuss players like Muntari is because we've been linked to him somewhere down the line. If we don't sign him I'm sure nobody really cares. Its just someone to talk about because of the links which are few and far between.
-
One World Cup doesn't make a player? Look at Alpay, Emre etc.. I want a signing too but it needs to be the right one.
Alpay was a class defender for us! he was sacked because of his antics against England and because he was nuts. Emre is a class act but has had a lot of injury problems and played for a very poor manager who didn't use him correctly.
-
I like how players like Muntari become must haves purely through being mentioned on this thread, I doubt anybody has even actually seen him play club football.
He looked pretty useful for Ghana at the last world cup!
So did de la cruz!
I think De la Cruz would have played a lot of games for us this season. But he did only look good against Poland and Costa Rica to be honest. Muntari however looked the business against the Czecs, Italians and even Brazil.

Call me impatient, but I want to see one signing around this time, as a statement of intent.
your impatient :winkold:
I know, but you can't spell.
:winkold:
I can its just I'm impatient as well.
I'd say it was more of a grammar error to be fair.

We'll have to wait and see, I like the way we do business now, look at Young, Carew, Maloney, we agree a fee and then seal it. Rather than the previous regime.
This is very true. As much as we get excited by rumors and speculation those days are over with Villa. We do business the right way and we'll know about things only IF/WHEN they going to happen.
-
Let's just go and look for some good Argentenian players, sig them through their agent for a small fee, and then pay 5 million to the F.A. for the both of them. Worked for West Ham, so I don't see the problem. Might as well all have a go!
But then the big 4 will take us to court and demand a points deduction after we win the league.
I cant believe West Ham couldn't accommodate Mascherano in the team. They are lucky they gave Tevez a chance or they'd be relegated now.
Going a bit off topic so i better say how much I'd love us to sign Riquelme. He may want to return to Europe and have a crack at the premiership!
-
If any player we are linked to goes to the likes of Pompy, Everton and even Newcastle I firmly believe its because MON did not want him and not because he chose the other club over us. Those days are long gone and we can safely back MON's judgment. Thats something i'm sure off.
-
Pompey are after Muntari!
WTF????
whys that so shocking? Its only Muntari.
-
I can't cope with this. It was on page 297 just three days ago.
haha! 40 odd pages later and we still haven't got any closer to signing everyone. We are eager beavers but who can blame us! As i said in another thread the anticipation is killing me! i need a solid link to a player like a druggie needs a fix!!!
-
Have we even been linked in the slightest to Sneijder or is it just talk on here?
We've been linked to him in a few papers which is more than I can say about most the players mentioned on here.
Plus i'm sure we can outbid Valencia but it sounds like thats where he wants to go.

On a serious note its the way business should be done and deep down everyone should prefer this professional approach. On the other hand i wish fans would calm down and be a little patient and stop worrying about freebies like Distan going to other clubs. We don't need these players, MON has his own targets.
