But that isn't just someone in your house, right?

What are the chances that someone breaks into your home seeking to murder you?  It's nonsense.  They'd be coming to steal stuff and they'd be welcome to steal stuff if it meant I avoided a shoot off.

my guess is, when a thief gets caught or seen breaking into a house or stealing, chances of him running are higher than him pulling a gun and killing everyone. There is a big difference between theft and murder, it takes a different kind of criminal.

dammit. those poor innocent wee kids

I have been asking myself what I would do if I lived in America. I have an 11 year old girl and I couldnt fathom leaving her to school every day and just hoping that some nutter with unfettered access to automatic doesnt choose her school that day .

My first thought when reading your post was ‘they probably think the chance of it happening in their school is extremely low’. But now I want to know the % of schools that have had a gun incident, 1 death so not just mass shootings of 4 or more deaths, since say Columbine.

    Anyone has any idea?

    edit: nevermind, I found it

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/interactive/school-shootings-database/

    Quote

More than348,000students have experienced gun violence at school since Columbine

There have been 376 school shootings since 1999, according to Post data

Still think Southampton will go down along with bournmouth who i think will finish bottom.

Everton look in trouble to me. I think its between them and forest for last spit

Forest? They’re currently 13th, 5 points clear of the relegation zone. I don’t see all of those teams below them catching up.

I sympathise with the treatment Harry and Meghan got from the media but he seems to be wanting to have his cake and eat it now.

He wants the media to pump his headlines and make him loads of money, but also doesn’t want the media digging up their own headlines.

This is pretty much where I stand. No question about the media treatment that drove them away. But first Oprah, then Netflix, now a book,... they make a living out of being in the spotlights and live off headlines in the media attacking the royal family, while they claim to wanted to get away from all that. It's starting to be a bit pathetic.

Things like popular vote are not classed as democratic in the US 😂 much better having electoral colleges, ranked voting and only the majority in the house can win even though the democrat got the most votes for speaker.  Doesn’t matter the gop can’t get their house in order, this has to go on until one gop wins. So forget things like popular vote that’s just fantasy stuff.

Is this a rule? Is it not theoretically possible for someone from the minority to be speaker if they get the majority of the votes (not just most votes/popular vote)?

I am sure no republican will ever vote for a democrat these days, but maybe it was possible in the past?

edit: apparently it is just getting 218 votes. Jeffries is currrently on 212, McCarthy on 203.

  6. Stupid move by Brugge. I doubt he is as good as they think/hope.

Good move for Parker though, he gets to coach in Europe, with two CL games against Benfica coming up, and will compete for European spots next year. Nice for his resume.

I was a little cold on Metroid Dread—Hollow Knight on the other hand is one of the top two games on the Switch for me (with BOTW). I'm a massive metroidvania fan and have been since the Metroids on the GBA, and while Dread was slick and well made, it just kind of felt perfunctory. Hollow Knight on the other hand is huge and a joy to explore and to experience its world. It feels as if it was made with love and passion. Dread is about 15 hours as I remember and feels like a (well made) 'product'. Hollow Knight is 50 hours, and is beautiful, and I loved every minute. They're both full of action. My memory of both is that HK was more fun though as I say Dread has its moments and is still good.

The only thing that irks me is that my friend borrowed my Switch a few years ago and lost it on a train—so I lost my HK game file when I was on the 'final' final boss. For this reason alone I never finished it. I was on 99%. He replaced the Switch at least.

I would argue Hollow Knight is the better game, and it's action is decent - it has elements of the Souls games in its mechanics which give it a bit of depth, but also makes it a more difficult game. Its also huge, you can feasibly be playing that game for months. Genuinely though one of my favourite games if the last few years.

Metroid Dread is very good, but it has some divisive elements. It has sections where you're basically being chased by an enemy that will 9/10 times will 1 shot you if caught, and you can only defeat these if you find a particular thing in that section. It has some very nice and tricky platforming puzzles, and some difficult bosses.

I think you'll enjoy either, but also I think you should try both.

    Thanks!

I ordered Metroid Dread last weekend because I know the franchise and, except for Other M on hard mode, enjoyed playing them. Hollow Knight will be next up then.

  8. For christmas, I am doubting between Metroid Dread and Hollow Knight. Any recommendations?

I got into metroid since the prime series, but recently played Super Metroid and liked it as well. Hollow Knight get's raving reviews, so one to consider. I like a game that is more than just 'making that one jump', so the added action of metroid is always a plus.

Crazy thought - Maybe, just maybe one of the most successful billionaires and serial entrepreneurs in the world knows what he is doing.

Remember when Randy Lerner, a successful billionaire and sports team owner, bought Aston Villa?

Whether we like it or not, this is shaping up to be arguably the best ever World Cup..

I keep seeing this kind of posts on social media as well, mostly from Arabs. Seems like they want to push this narrative.
personally I disagree. Too many boring draws in the group stages, no real exciting games in the knock outs (tense though). Add the boring crowds and the wrong season for the WC (no barbecues) makes it definitely not the best ever. Some good football and upsets (spain and Brazil out) makes it ok for sure, but far from the best.

Wikipedia so might not be fully accurate but is a rough number. It has him down for around 250 goals at the moment, Haaland around 200 but is about a year younger

Ronaldo at 23 had around 130 goals and Messi had about 150 goals though Ronaldo and Messi hit the incredible goalscoring feats from about 23-33

Both Ronaldo and Messi did it in better leagues. Ligue 1 is good, but not as good as the Premier League or Primera Division. He’s hiding at PSG.

I think he could do it tbh, like Haaland is doing. But he chose money over challenge.

When you get bought for £100m and then send back to your original team (who weren't that bothered about getting you back) for £7m one year later it says a lot. The Belgian Carlton Cole.

That says more about Chelsea’s business intelligence.
They overpaid for a player, he didn’t perform what you expect for 100m (scored 15 goals, so not a complete bust) and then sell him for peanuts (he’s not the best striker in the world, but is still worth more than 7m).

**** it, if they're this expanded you might as well just do a 32 team Euros (Vatican City might qualify one day!) and 64 team WC.

there are 55 UEFA members, so more than half qualify. so let's say it's everyone currently in Division A&B in the nations league.

That's just ridiculous. Not a slight at you btw, because I can imagine there's already someone preparing this idea 'because it would unite even more countries'

16 at EC, 32 at WC is enough imo.

Re Belgium: When your leaving players like Teilemans and Trossard on the bench for Witzel or Hazard then trajectory only ends up going one way. I actually agree with KDB but they have an imbecile of a manager in the same way England do with Southgate. Instead of looking to the future and the players that will be there, they continue to constrain themselves with favourites. Also, KDB has been shockingly bad this tournament, he's the last player that should be moaning the way he's trotted about the first couple of games.

Tielemans is mostly a passenger. He's only as good as the team that plays and will never lead them to better preformances. The defence is old and slower than they used to be, but offensively there has been no threat. This doesn't take the pressure off of the defence.

Hazard get's a free pass, while Trossard is on the bench. the team needed younger blood for a while, but Martinez didn't do it. Onana as the best example, he played well and with energy when he came on or started. If the stars of the squad are not performing or injured (KDB, Lukaku, Hazard, Witsel) you need to have other options. Martinez doesn't have them because he kept playing with the same players for 6 years. If you win the PL or CL, teams will still buy new additions to keep everyone sharp.

The players haven't performed, KDB as prime example, but the problems have been created by Martinez.

Nah we would beat them now. I actually don’t think we’ll see much of Belgium in the next few years. Like do they have any good young players coming through?

Faes, theate, doku, Openda, De Ketelaere, onana, Lavia,… there’s still talent, but it’ll never be as good as the squad of 2018.
