Is that why we are still waiting for second half or they just had a very long injury time at first half? ( sorry just joined to watch on viaplay xtra)

    The game is suspended apparently

  2. Looking at their squad, they have some players who would easily be picked up by other PL teams. Onana, Danjuma, Pickford, McNeil would find other clubs if they go down. Add the experience of Young, Gana, Tarkowski and they should be doing better.

Luton, Sheffield, Bournemouth don’t have those kind of players.

  3. SMW was the first game I owned, as it came with the SNES we got at home. I spent hour on that, first just to get through the entire world, next the star road after which all koopas looked like Marios (or something like that). That was such an epic game.

I had played SMB and SMB3 at my friends’house before this. So we later also got the SM All Stars on SNES. 1 and 3 in the SMB were still awesome, but the freedom of SMW, where you choose to go back through the entire world was better. SMB 2 was a bit different, not as good, but still cool as it was a change from the ‘regular’ Mario games.

i don’t want to know how many hours of my childhood were spent on these, but I sure my dad could still moan about it.

There may be more variation in recent league winners, but the last time La Liga's top 3 teams weren't Real/Barca/At Madrid (in any order) was 2011/12 (Valencia, 3rd).

I reckon it'd be pretty close in European semis to be honest.  Real/Barca/At Madrid for CL but then Sevilla/Villarreal/Valencia for Europa.  I'd guess you're looking at Man City/Liverpool/Spurs/Chelsea for English CL and then also Arsenal and Man Utd in Europa.

But as you say, it's more outside the elite.  The Premier League just has a ridiculous amount of money.

Correct, I was thinking about CL only, while the Spanish do very well in the EL as well.

    Last 10 years:

    Spain - 24 teams in European semi-finals

    England -  23 teams in European semi-finals

I think it's only in the last 3-5 years that we have overtaken Spain.

Of those Spanish teams, how many were Real or Barca and maybe Atletico? I’m guessing it’s more diverse when it comes to the English sides.

the strength of a league is all teams in it, not just the top sides. PSG is not an indication of the French league.

The PL is strong because of the TV money, so teams like burnley can go shopping in France or the Netherlands for fun. In Spain or Germany, mid-table teams don’t even have that kind of money. The basis comes (imo) from a large fan base paying Sky a lot of money every year, just because football is so popular in the UK (with even in the championship crowds of 20k). Add the interest from outside the Uk for TV money and you have very wealthy clubs.

Need to lock down our assets to contracts with no release clause or big ass ones, as I think after this summer there will be a reluctance from buying clubs to do business with Brighton due to their incredibly bloated valuations and they'l eye up targets elsewhere.

On the plus side, it don't arf mean that the asking price across the board will rise, so on that basis our midfield is pushing a total valuation of £500m+

Make sure we know what is ‘big’ and whatvit’ll be in 2 years time. Two years ago we thought 100m£ was extreme, now you get a player with 50 PL games for that money.

And what happens if Kane overtakes Shearer and then someone overtakes him? He'll have no record AND no titles.  Let's not compare Kane to some Leicester squad players.  If Bayern go onto win a CL, Kane will likely be one of their most important players and probably their top scorer that season.

I believe Haaland will overtake him, as said in a previous post.

    Doesn’t matter anyway. He’s off.

Are you saying you’d rather having some arbitrary goal record than winning a Champions League?

Did you know Kane isn’t actually 2nd in the all time list? He’s actually 19th. He’s only 2nd because billionaire Rupert Murdoch decided football started in August 1992. Shearer has 23 goals missing from his goal record BTW.

I’m saying it’s more special/unique/rare. what is shearer known for, his goalscoring record or his title with blackburn? Messi is mostly announced with the number of ballon d’ors before the list of titles. Individual honors in sports, even in team sports, are no small matter.

titles? Albrighton has one, Drinkwater has one, to name a few. Titles are not the best measurement of how good a player was. A goalscoring record is.

that being said, I think he’ll join Bayern to get guaranteed titles, like any player would.

I agree with your second bit though. It’s artificial as decades of football are forgotten, but here we are.

Bit surprised he's actually leaving England, I always assumed he'd either stay at Spurs or go to Man Utd. He could have set the goal record at something ridiculous.

I still think he has to win the CL at Bayern to make the move worthwhile. Going to a team that wins the league every season regardless to get a winners medal seems a bit pointless to me.

The goal record would be an individual trophy, more special than a title imo. On the other hand, how long for Haaland to top it?

Lukaku would be a good option. He’s running out of options, Chelsea want to get rid and Tottenham is pretty much his level.

Its abosolutely horrendous. Two mediocre PL players who are both at the tail end of their careers, on high wages and zero resale value. Screams of a club just wanting to plod along in mid table which is exactly what they'll get with gollum in charge. No ambition at all or trust in their manager/scouting team that they can find good young players and improve them.

JWP is 28 (which isn’t even the tail end of a Gabby-career) and has been a standout at Southampton. He’s not a superstar, but a good PL player with quite few years left in him.

maguire’s 30, so about 4 more years. He is indeed mediocre, but maybe eager to prove his critics wrong. He was good at Leicester.

He isnt, he was poor at Anderlecht. Probably another Gerrardesque manager

Anderlecht is a mess, he got them to play decent football and a respectable position in the league. Things got way worse after he left.

he didn’t do too badly there, which is ok in his first job as manager.

we’ll see how he does in the PL, but he’s already miles ahead of Gerrard and Lampard.

… just a few that could’ve been good

Some if these had very good careers. Cahill Albrighton Veretout Gueye all did very well after leaving us.

  13. I’m starting to look at it as the second phase of botw, which was originally the intention.

many Zelda games have you play the same world two times after some event which slightly alters the world. Alttp, OoT, TP, all had you do the same overworld twice.

the element of surprise is less, but I still enjoy exploring the world all over again. Haven’t done too much in the main story line though.

  14. On a free, this would be a good signing. Talented player, 26 so with some years left in him, PL/international/europe experience…

to me, he is too often a passenger in games. He will not boss midfield. Does have a great shot on him, so can score some goals. A squad player, but good to have on the bench. He has played with dendonker at Anderlecht and for Belgium, so added bonus they already have an on pitch understanding (though both would be subs for me)
