Which lion is your preferred mate?

Is this one here different from the one on the round badge, as I'm not sure.

I do like the round badge lion though!

I like the round badge but seeing as that is dead in the water under Heck I’m just wanting to focus on this shield version going forwards.  The detailed lion is much better than this yellow because it’s too yellow, it clashes with the light blue and it is very basic lion. So that’s my issue with the lion but I have other issues with the badge. I actually don’t care which way it faces now to be honest but I know others do.

Just a innocent prediction on how the race will play out, is it brave to call a rare home win against the Merseysiders

    Villa Fixtures

    Chelsea (H) - D
    Brighton (A) - L
    Liverpool (H) - W
    Crystal Palace (A) W

    Total - 73 Pts

    Spurs Fixtures

    Arsenal (H) - D
    Chelsea (A) - W
    Liverpool (A) - L
    Burnely (H) - W
    Man City (H) - D
    Sheff Utd (A) - W

    Total - 71 Pts

Wow that’s a very strong call for Spurs results.  One defeat in that set of games would be phenomenal for them.  I think we’ll beat one of either Chelsea or Brighton, I think the Liverpool game will be harder.

  3. Mr Percy, why put that last dozen words in to kill a positive article when it is unlikely as you say…it puts doubt in our heads.  If it’s highly unlikely then don’t write about it (I know it’s your job), we don’t even want to think about Ollie leaving.

That's not "more context" though, it's a different question :D

Haha fair enough, I incorrectly worded it.  I just think the original question, just like the 4th vs ECL question lacks why many of us think 4th is a priority, it was not about short term but potentially long term reasoning.

Win Europa League 100%. European final, travelling around Europe and silverware.

CL is all well and good but we've time to get there and does very little for you if you get knocked out early. Look at some of the teams that have played in it over the last few years (Newcastle, Spurs, Leicester). They don't seem to have benefited from it.

Newcastle and Spurs definitely benefited from it, they wouldn’t have been able to spend like they did in the summer and attract Tonali (the transfer not working out so far is by the by) whereas likely have had to sell somebody like Isak had they not qualified for champions league due to FFP.  Spurs have regularly benefitted from the financials from Champions League, the fact their recruitment has been poor until this summer just gone is their fault.  The Champions League money is why the big six are the big six and only by bad recruitment and decisions is why they aren’t top 6.

    Question to Villa fans

Would you rather get to play in the Champions League and not win it or win the Europa League Trophy?

Take it a step further because the question needs more context…

    Question to Villa fans

    Would you rather

    • get to play in the Champions League and not win but keep all key players and get CL place next season as well.

    Or

    • sell Watkins for £100m to Arsenal this summer, win the Europa League Trophy, and finish 10th.

This is the same discussion as 4th or ECL.

    It’s

    • money vs trophy
    • more probability of keeping players vs trophy
    • more probability of attracting quality players vs trophy
    • Increasing profile of club vs trophy
    • long term benefit vs short term benefit
    • no trophy now vs a trophy now
    • stabilising at this level vs taking a quick win

    etc etc

it’s such a hard question to answer….thankfully it’s not one or the other.

We're also getting Archer back, as we have an obligation to buy him for £9m if Sheffield United are relegated, effectively meaning it was a loan move.

We are assuming Archer comes back because of the obligation to buy but Wilder might think Archer is perfect for what they need in the Championship and may want to keep him if a deal could be agreed or extension of the current deal with slight amendments.  Just because his limited use in PL, he could be perfect for what they want in the Championship.

Be keeping an eye on Chelsea / Arsenal tomorrow. With the former out of the cup now and no CL to play for will be interesting how the motivation is with the squad.

Overall match Spurs results against Liverpool and Chelsea and win either one of Brighton and Palace and we should be fine.

Cole Palmer is out ill for the game which is a big blow for them but wondering if he’ll be back for our game Saturday.  Having him not play against us would be a big positive for us and deflate them I guess.

As much as I hate monochrome badges I kinda hope we go monochrome on all 3 kits next season if the Heck badge is what we are getting.

Maybe go a bit further if it’s Heck badge, let’s go with a transparent version, like completely transparent, so much so that it can’t be seen.

Hard to say. Stuff that goes on a plane. A week maybe. Stuff that goes on a boat? Upwards of a month.

GMLRS rockets and shells, likely very fast. Bradleys, Stryker and Abrams, likely the end of May unless they've got a stockpile somewhere in Europe. I'm not sure if Ukraine have any heavy transports left, but they can carry the heavier stuff too - @blandy knows way more about how much stuff can get flown than I do. If there's a will there's a way. The Pentagon is already preparing to send the first aircraft apparently, and some have already landed at Rammstein according to locals.

Wouldnt be surprised if brought in a young centre back from abroad. One that is comfortable on the ball and could also cover either left back or defensive midfield

Depends if the rumours of Hermoso coming in are true.  If they are I doubt another CB on top of that because he can play LB or CB.  We’d then have Hermoso, Mings, Torres, Konsa and Carlos with Lenglet going back to his home club.  We might still have Chambers, but whatever we will still have 5 CB’s if Hermoso is true.

In response to Emi's post-match interview calling on the fans to help lift the team tomorrow and in addition to The 1897 Group's presence, the club in their matchday info have promoted supporters to gather in the Trinity Road fanzone tomorrow for the team bus's arrival at 1.30pm to give the players a raucous welcome to the stadium: https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2024/april/20/Matchday-Guide--Aston-Villa-v-Bournemouth/

    Tomorrow should be electric!!!

Well I hope it’s better than usual, my nephew loves seeing the players get off the coach but it’s not like when I was younger and the players would come over and sign stuff or at least say hello.  They usually park the coach as close to door as possible and difficult for fans to see, and the players get off the coach with headphones on and go straight in.  I’ll be there but I hope there is a bit more interaction than usual.

Let me put it this way. If an away tie against Lille intimidates us, we have no business being in the Champions League.

I don’t think it has intimidated us, Emery always tries to kill the atmosphere first half and then more expansive second half in away games in Europe.  Our passing has been poor and their goal was sublime but they haven’t done much else, just we haven’t done anything.
