Whether last night was a point gained or two lost will depend on Spurs result today. If they win then it’s likely City have nothing to play for against them in the penultimate game. That would mean Spurs would more than likely get at least another 12 points.

I don’t agree re City…with nothing to play for City would be very dangerous because they will just play with their toy (Spurs).  City are deadly in two periods, firstly when chasing the last dozen of games or more of a season and secondly when they have nothing to play for because they are free and the quality shines.

  2. I’m happy with the point at the end.  If you aren’t playing well in a game then make sure you don’t lose it and we didn’t.  We were poor, didn’t deserve the two nil lead…when we got that lead we were sloppy to let them back in but it was one of those games you always felt they would because we weren’t at the races today.  I think that will end up being a vital point for us so I’m happy as I can be.

in fact I’d love the club to introduce the gold in to our official colours

We are Claret and Blue, not Claret, Blue and Gold.  I don’t think gold should be in it at all but appreciate sometimes it can help but definitely no to anything official.

    The round badge looks good.

    The lion looks great.

The issue is it looks to similar to Chelsea. It's …. really a fault of the design company. The other option they provided was shit

I would go further and say that the other option was not better by half. It's what I voted for and I would do again if given a choice between all the various possible badges.

But the most vocal, proactive and overwhelming majority elements of our fanbase get swept up time and again in nostalgia and that's what happened again in this case, to our benefit

    FTFY

Just because you guys don’t like it doesn’t mean it was bad.  All design companies get given brief’s and seem to do ok and yes this design company didn’t blow it out of the park but they had plenty to work with and really didn’t do much.  Fan designs with the same restrictions seem to produce fantastic versions.  It’s not the fans fault.

Lo Celso is a superbly gifted player,

You watch a different player to me then.

    7 hours ago, MaVilla said:

but he is technically superb and i have personally thought he has looked very good whenever i have seen him play for spurs.

Yep definitely a different player as I think when he has played for Spurs which he didn’t much he was bang average.

    7 hours ago, MaVilla said:

maybe he is inconsistent and not overly good at times, dunno, but when i have seen him, he is very easy on the eye.

He would not be ahead of any midfielder we currently have at the club.

It's like saying "one person can organise a wedding". Sure. But you need a priest, bartenders, chefs, people who blow up balloons. It's a big event, just like setting out a professional branding campaign.

Or we are getting the ‘City Hall/Gretna Green’ version.

I don't know why people want Lo Celso, he has basically done nothing in his time at Spurs, he has 1 year left and we need to deal with Levy

I agree, I just don’t see it.  He would just be an unused sub 95% of the time given competition in that midfield.  We have to bring in players equivalent or better than what we have imo.

  8. I’m resigning myself to the shit show Heck badge, the accident by the Betano press release irrationally killed my hope that they can’t be that stupid thinking this modified Heck badge is the way forward.  Go with a shield, fine… change the lion back, fine…but get something decent.

I can’t help thinking (without technical knowledge, measuring angles, or counting rows/seats etc.)

    the way forwards could be

    • Remove boxes from DE stand.
    • reprofile into single stand (adding rows)
    • incorporate new GA+ in this new design stand

that could give the extra seats, but also it tees the stand up ready for

    • the new north stand to work better as the pitch would be the same as Trinity road stand?
    • It would sort the viewing issues lower Holte?
    • And finally allow a future extension to DE stand (remove couple of rows so height matches middle Trinity and New north stand, and build 2nd tier on top by building around stand.

I may be well off in terms of what’s possible,  but if that does work then to me it makes sense to do that before north stand

We get more money from the current boxes than the extra GA seats you are proposing I assume

I see Palace are basically touting Eze and Olise this summer. Would we be in the market for one, or both?
I wouldn't play Olise instead of Bailey, and Eze would be in stiff competition for a place in our midfield, but no doubt they'd add a lot of quality to the squad.

I think the premium on them would be too much for us.  We’d be paying over market value for them and that doesn’t seem the Monchi/Emery way.  Seem like Man Utd signings all over or maybe Chelsea given the London factor.

Supporters are again being encouraged to gather on Trinity Road and by the William McGregor statue for the team bus's arrival at 6.30pm for the Chelsea game on Saturday.

I really love this and it sets the tone, I'm hoping Saturday will top Bournemouth atmosphere wise and will be more hostile for Chelsea with it being an 8pm Saturday KO.

I love this and it’s great for the players to see the welcome.  My only gripe was that we stood there for an hour with my nephew, that even though we thought we got a good position the players got off the coach and walked the short distance in and my nephew got blocked by the stupid car in the way.  It wouldn’t hurt the club to stop the coach 20 metres earlier and let more people see the players.

Agreed his stats are up there with Leon in midfield. Who would miss out to accommodate him?

Bailey still playing through his injury apparently, so I’d throw Bailey on second half as usual to bring Dougie back into starting line up.

There's still a lot of people who haven't put 2 and 2 together with Villa. Like it's some lucky coincidence that Emery is our manager.

To be fair there are two reasons I don’t mind…

    1. Everybody underestimates us and we fly a lot under the radar.  I was really critical months back about the limited attention we get but I think it’s served to our advantage.  A few weeks back it was agreed by many non-Villa media that Spurs were top four, I even heard somebody mention they might sneak third, and the Man Utd brigade thought they were making up 10 points at the time….yet a few weeks on we are 6 points clear of Spurs, which could be 7 or 9 by Saturday night and although Spurs have games in hand it’s a hard schedule.  We have just gone about our business while discussions carry on about title challenge, relegation battle, Forest statement, European failures, Klopp replacement and received credit for the Arsenal win but that quickly died away and we beat the Cherries and snuck to a nice, points in the bag, lead for fourth place.
    2. I wanted Emery as our manager, I was shocked we got him. I’m still rubbing my eyes how well we’ve done in such a short time, with so many of the same players.  I believed he would get us back up here but in an optimistic three years time and yet he’s got us fighting for Champions League this season.  It feels like to us now that we deserve Champions League, we have games that make it achievable left.  It’s no surprise how non-Villa are shocked how quickly we’ve risen because it’s shocked us Villa fans and because we are used to it now but we are an unfashionable club, not one of the Sky6, not based in London and don’t have many elite ex players all over the media then some non-Villa don’t see that we have become a CL level big club with billionaire owners and an elite manager.  We are a Champions League level team, just hope we clinch it now.

The worst this scoreline gets the more chelsea will be coming to make things right

Or completely demoralised for Saturday plus thinking about the summer now it’s all but unlikely that they can get Europe.  Their season is basically over.

I'd only build a new stadium if he moved to the city centre. I'm not convinced it would be worth it in our current location if I'm honest.

I’d only build a new stadium if it was anywhere but the city centre, I think that would be an awful place to have it.  Look I don’t want to move from Villa Park but I think it’s a very bad idea so close to the city centre for a stadium if we were to go down the route of building a new stadium imo.

I’ll be watching the match tonight to see how Chelsea play before I make a prediction for our game against them on weekend. I’d like to see them get smashed.

Yeah I’ve been thinking how I want this game to go in relation to 4th place.

    • Arsenal smash them, so high on confidence to smash Spurs on Sunday
    • Arsenal win because the title and want to continue to have to win again on Sunday on the basis City and Liverpool also this week.
    • Chelsea thus lose so confidence gets a further hit, even less chance to get Europe
    • Arsenal draw, puts more pressure on them to beat Spurs on the weekend.
    • Arsenal lose might be a bit too much and how will it affect them for Spurs game.
    • Chelsea win…they will be still in Europe chase, will be harder Saturday for us.  Or will they be their usual one good game, one bad and be bad against us.
    • Draw…meh
    • Chelsea lose, a confidence knock or will they want to bounce back on Saturday.

I think a good win for Arsenal is the best outcome.

Which lion is your preferred mate?

Is this one here different from the one on the round badge, as I'm not sure.

I do like the round badge lion though!

I like the round badge but seeing as that is dead in the water under Heck I’m just wanting to focus on this shield version going forwards.  The detailed lion is much better than this yellow because it’s too yellow, it clashes with the light blue and it is very basic lion. So that’s my issue with the lion but I have other issues with the badge. I actually don’t care which way it faces now to be honest but I know others do.
