  1. Never heard of it, looks quite good though and i like these sorts of games. Is it on console?

Pretty sure Deus Ex got game of the year when it originally came out. Have to check. But remember it being pretty big back in the day...

"The game received almost worldwide critical and industry acclaim, including being named "Best PC Game of All Time" in PC Gamer's Top 100 PC Games[1] and in a poll carried out by UK gaming magazine PC Zone.[2]"

  2. You can cheese the disarm thing you know.

You need to disarm 6 people without reloading. Hole up in the saloon in Thieves Landing, use the rife with lots of ammo and blast away. You wont get the law after you and there are plenty of people who want a gun fight. Dead Eye refills your ammo but it doesnt count as a reload, so just take some consumables which refill your Dead Eye if you need it.

Thanks for the tip Rev, I did try this but found that everyone runs out of the saloonwhen I draw, managed to diaarm a few of them before they run out. When I let go of the target button it seems to automatically reload.

Another method I've tried is going to the mine I'm sure i disarmed at least 6 people but didn't get the achievement, so I'm starting to think whether they have to be disarmed one after the other. I even tried it with the revolver which holds 15 ammo but shooting off all bullets but 15 before entering the mine.

Also tried going into the gang hideout dressed as one of them but there's never 6 together, they keep wandering off.

  3. I think I've finished the game, well 98% complete the only thing i havent got is the sharpshooter 10 rating. Cant disarm 6 people in one go.

But theres this little thing that sticks in my mind about a ghost stranger which the game never explains who he is or why he "haunted" you. Am I supposed to encounter him again at some point, or something just to explain what he was all about.

Enjoyed the game, but like I've said before it wasnt enough of a challenge (apart from killing cougars and bears with knife / dynamite). Found it far too easy with no option to change difficulty level apart from changing to manual targetting.

Some of the side missions were really annoying like picking herbs.

  4. I just started playing this at the start of the week, finding it very easy. Futhermore I cant find an option to change the difficulty setting anywhere, does it only let you choose at the start of the game? But i dont remember setting it then either.

The auto aim means you just cant miss really, well im still near the start of the game so I'm hoping it gets harder.

Try increasing the aiming difficulty in the menu and things should be slightly more difficult for you. Personally I think they found a good level in terms of difficulty. There are some spikes here and there, but the legendary and random "Rockstar wall of difficulty" never pops up, which is a good thing in my opinion. The story is strong enough to want to see it through to the end, but more importantly I find the theme and tone of the story to be much more engaging than any GTA I've ever played.

Yeah thanks for that, I actually die a few times now. Way too easy before, where's the challenge in pressing the target button and shooting without being able to miss? They should have had it default that you aim your self.

Was still too easy until getting to Mexico. Now its becoming a proper game :)

  6. I'm probably one of the few that would rather see Downing than Albrighton start, at least for a few matches, give Downing a run and see if he improves. If he doesn't, go with Albrighton. Or I'd play Downing most games and bring Albrighton in now and again.

How many chances do you want to give him??

Albrighton has done more in a handful of games than Downing has done since he's been here!

  7. If he dropped his delusions of grandeur ('I'm a box to box to midfielder'...), learnt to be disciplined as a holding player, sitting in midfield and keeping it simple, learnt more positional play from that position, read the game from that position much better (rather than do what he does now, which is react to whats happening rather than snuff it out with his presence/position), learnt to nick the ball off a player like Petrov can, rather than steam in, learnt to control a ball with finesse, learnt how to hold possession, and never ever took a shot again in his life, I'd think he'd be great.

Sadly, what he actually does is steam into someone, either make a sliding tackle or just kick it off their toe to everywhere but his own possession, normally just into some free space for another runner from their end to grab onto (and thus starting the whole charade again until it falls to a Villa man or into touch). The times when he intercepts a pass, or is passed to, he 90% of the time either dwells on the ball for an age during which time he seems unable to control the thing and gets pounced on by everything within 20yards, buggering any approach play up, or if he chooses to run with it he punts it miles away from his foot, hasn't the vision or the skill to regularly create anything, and then cocks it up somehow. The amount of times he just runs towards goal and you just know not a thing is going through his head other than 'FORWARD!'. After which he either loses the ball or some other way **** up the attack and generally leaves us short, similar to Laursen when he went through his 'must head everything' phase, left holes all over the shop.

If he could manage to become a simple holding player, I'd be singing his praises.

If he could manage to become an Essien type all action mid, I'd be singing his praises.

Unfortunately, what he is, is a shit box to box player who thinks holding is beneath him, with **** all skill (and I believe the defensive side of the game is a skill, and it isn't all just tackling, it's positional) and atrocious technique at just about everything, and no brain. His endeavour is fantastic but we're past that. 'Trying' only gets you so far, at the sharp end you need to start backing it up with something else, and he can't. Or won't.

He is at best a squad player, ideally should have been out the door a while ago, and only hasn't been seemingly because we've been unable to purchase someone to make him obsolete, which is a travesty.

O'Neills worst signing, in my view, by miles. Big-ish money on potential he's never filled and never had threatened to fulfill. A decent season when we were still pretty mediocre, and the moment he had helped us past that point his first team use expired unless his potential became fulfilled and he became 'The Makelele with Legs'. He didn't.

Thats why I'm not a fan. (Though of course we've heard all that and the counters before...).

I'm not that surprised he's quite so liked. People love a trier, and those who look to be working hard.

    SPOT.ON

  8. One moment yesterday summed him up - won the ball in midfield, played a clever one-two with Young, bust a gut to drive forward 40 yards into the box, Jagielka falls over, Young unmarked in the box and Reo-Coker plays it straight at Jagielka lying on the floor when it would have been easier to miss him than to hit him.

He's a player who has admirable qualities and there should definitely be a place for him in the squad - but not the first team in 90% of games. Which probably isn't good enough for him.

Exactly, and its not the first time he's done it either. More often than not when he's in that position he ruins a great chance to score. Shame they dont have a stat for that as he would probably be worse than most league one players in that situation.

I'm simply shocked at the results of this poll.

For me Heskey, Downing and NRC are all poor excuses for premier league footballers and have gotten away with that tag all their careers.

They are all good athletes though which has gotten them where they are now but in truth they are all holding us back.

  9. Have to express my disappointment at Stewart Downing tonight, or should that read all preseason - worse still - since we bought him.

Disagree. I thought Downing had some good touches and was showing improved confidence and strength last night. Unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions. I thought he looked sharp.

You must have been watching a different game, apart from his shot against the bar he was abysmal. Had plenty of opportunities to get a cross in and failed to find a Villa player every time. Even co commentator Chris Coleman commented on his poor performance.

I'm glad you think he had some good touches, but I expect a bit more than good touches from what is supposed to be our playmaker from the left.

  10. Hi Generel, I rarely post on here but I have to express my disappointment at the kit release date.

I, like many others, wont be buying it unless its a 2 year kit. By the time it will be available to buy there will be little over 7 months left before the end of the season.

If it was release in June like many other clubs then you almost get a full year out of it, yet we charge the same. Not to mention many of these other clubs have a 2 year kit regardless.

  11. 'special players like Stewart Downing....'

One of our better players who last year came back from a broken leg and had a good season, all things considered.

Sadly I don't think he'll get any better, it's not like he was much better than that before his injury anyway. Poor poor player, still can't believe we a)bought him and b)how much we wasted on him.
