  1. I won't be getting it for a few reasons really.

The one thing I really enjoyed in previous games was being able to set up an online league with my mates accross the country who all used to play during uni days. Now we have to take it it turns and manually write the scores down!

All the previous FIFAs (well i didnt have 12) we used to set up a league and play each other - absolutely shocking that such a simple feature is missing.

I used to set up VillaTalk fifa legues too using this feature but iuts no longer possible. stupid.

13 i found extremely buggy, 90% of the time i pause the game the system just keeps flicking through all the menu options so i cant select the option I want.

The number of times I try to pass to a player and the system decides to pass to a different player is so frustratng, not to mention the number of shots from the edge of the box that get blocked by your own player.. how often does that happen in real life (or even in past FIFA games??)

The issue with the online pass as well, every few weeks I have to re-download the activation pass as I keep getting an error!

Its still fun to play I suppose but its annoying that the games gone backwards since FIFA10 imo.

The other thing to consider is that the game will be released around September time, and those of us that plan to get the next gen consoles - they are expected pre christmas so you wont get much gaming time out of it, or have to buy it again for the new console.

  2. The most tedious thing about games though, and I just can't get my head around why people enjoy it, is the idea of '100%'ing them - collecting various things etc. If I wanted to spend hours performing menial tasks I'd clean the house...

Agree, but sometimes you just cant help it.

I think the Arkham series has this tedious bit nailed though, as you really have to use your brain trying to work out how to get those riddler trophies.. very clever some of them.

While I'm here I have to defend Fallout 3, one of my favourite games ever.

Bordelands, Bioshock and Oblivion for me - couldnt get into any of them.

Though with Bioshock I didnt realise you lose your ammo when you resprawn,  I didnt have a backup save game so I found myself in an impossible position. Didnt fancy starting from scratch again so gave up on it.

  3. Really exciting news, due 25th October.

Thought they would wait for next gen consoles but not so.

    Worrying Rocksteady not involved though

    See here for more details..

Warner Bros. has announced the next title in the Batman: Arkham franchise will be Batman: Arkham Origins, currently in development for the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.

It's currently slated for release on October 25 this year, but there's no mention of the game appearing on next-gen consoles.

The game, which is the subject of Game Informer's latest cover, will not be developed by Rocksteady Studios this time around, instead being worked on in-house at Warner Bros. Games Montreal.

The new development team will be using many of the assets that Rocksteady has used in the past, including its customised Unreal engine so as to try and avoid any discrepancies in the aesthetic of the franchise. Eric Holmes, lead designer of games including The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype, is heading up the project.

The game will apparently take place long before both of the existing Arkham titles, when a young and inexperienced Batman will encounter many familiar villains for the first time. As can be seen in the Game Informer imagery, the assassin Deathstroke will be one such foe, making his core Arkham game debut.

Alongside the console game though, Warner Bros. has also announced a handheld title, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. The game, which will be released on PS Vita and 3DS again on October 25, is set after the events of Arkham Origins and is being developed by Armature Studio, the company that was founded by several of the brains behind the Metroid Prime trilogy. With this in mind, it's not too surprising to find it described as a "2.5-D Metroid-style exploration action game".

  4. One of his better games of the season today, hopefully he'll keep it up. That dive was shameful, though.

I think that's the first time i've ever seen him dive, its not something you'd asscociate with him so I was rather surprised when he did it. Hope its a one off.

  5. Only £2 cheers for that, definitely buy it once I've completed the game.

I'm really sad by the way, i knew i had the original somewhere so i went searching in my garage and found it, didn't think it would be compatible with windows 8 but it works a treat so I'll be playing that on my laptop when I'm on nights next week :)

Got Invisible war too somewhere, I bought that years ago but didn't play it as I didn't finish the original game.

Some fun night shifts coming up..

  6. You're probably right Chindie :(

Rev, I don't use steam half as much as I perhaps should, im always worried what I buy wont be smooth on my basic non graphically capable computer, then theres the older games which look interseting, but state theyre for windows xp and i think they wont work with my windows 8 machine.

Im sure i saw an article on cnet that Steam was making their console, or supporting a console or something.

  7. I was thinking of buying this as theres usually a new patch after the January window, thought buying it 2nd hand would be cheaper but people listing it on ebay are saying registration code has been used. What does this mean exactly? Is it only allowed to be used on one computer?

I usually have 3 installs of it, one on my laptop at work for night shifts, one on my laptop upstairs and one on my desktop in the living room and what I usually do is carry the save game on a usb stick depending on which machine im using. So even if I buy it new I wouldnt be able to this right?

I havent had the game since 2011 (may have been 10) but it didnt used to have a code im sure.

  8. I completely rely on 2nd hand gaming, the only game Ive ever bought brand new is Fifa.

I simply can't justify paying near £50 for a new game that I would be finished with in a month or 2.

If they do take these steps then I hope the price of new games is adjusted accordingly say £20 for games which cant be used again by anyone else.

If the prices remain the same then I'm afraid I wont be buying the Ps4 or any other games console that limits you in this way.

  9. Finally got around to playing this, I've owned it for over a year without it ever making it into my optical drive.

Wasn't expecting much as usually new games from my childhood are a let down (Duke Nukem 4 cough cough), but I am pleasantly siurprised, only just completed the first chapter but I'm hooked already. Fantastic!

  10. I agree, im just saying he was thriving here just as much as he has anywhere previously (or will do in the future somewhere else). Its just typical that we have one of the great goalscorers of our generation and he can't get in our team for whatever reason.

  11. How unrealistic would a £3m bid for Frank Lampard be?

Chelsea have publicly said they won't be offering him a new deal so he would be off in the summer anyway. At his age not many real big clubs would be after him so I dont think its entirely unrealistic that he wouln't come here.

  12. Maybe the fact that PL selected him and therefore cup tied him is an indication he will stay with us for the remainder of the season as it will have reduced his value?

You mean that cup which no one takes seriously until their fringe players get them to the semis or quarters depending on the size of the club.

I really wouldn't use the fact that he's cuptied as an indication of whether or not he will be sold this month.

Hopefully whatever problem PL had with Bent has been resolved as he has started both the last games he has been fit for.

  13. So annoyed, I've created a pro career at Villa. Been loaned out for a couple of seasons at Preston and Burnley, after about 100 games playing useless lower league I finally made it into the Villa side in the 3rd season but for some reason Clark was sold and the manager keeps picking Shay Given to play in his place causing the game to crash (reloaded and tried a few times).

This year you cant edit your position otherwise I would have shifted myself to central defence to stop Given getting selected and making the game crash.

Doesnt seem to be anyway around it and I dont want to start all over again just for potentially the same thing to happen again.. all that time and effort I put into it .. so frustrating!
