Exactly chappy. You simply can not talk about Carroll's transfer fee without talking about how the scenario came about.

Though I think that fee is a large part of the reason he has been so poor for so long. He's only now coming around.

I had the same argument with a collegue , Carroll would have gone for far less if Liverpool hadn't sold Torres for £50 mil.I do think they over paid for Henderson and Downing as well but all 3 came at a premuim for being English.

There are mitigating circumstances injuries etc ..however to pretty much replicate the performance he did with Birmingham shows me the blame lies with him.I have seen nothing at all this season in any game to make me think he has any clue what so ever.

The players are also to blame though Dunne on Sunday is a prime example of some of the clueless defending we have seen this season.Ironically apart from that he was MOTM for me but him and others time after time make these mistakes every game.So yes the players are to blame as well but for me the manager is the most at fault and we have seen from these players good performances in the past ,Mcliesh in 4 years in the Premier League has been poor.
