Wow.
Morpheus - just when I thought I couldn't disagree with you more, you keep setting the bar higher.
Indeed the Redknapp love fest is getting old..
-
You should always give a new manager a chance but we are in a dodgy place at moment add that to the last 2 seasons and no wonder fans are feeling negative.
The table is scary viewing we are losing touch with the lower mid table teams already. We need results and quickly if Stoke win tonight then we are 5 points off 14 th FFS.

You cannot blame Redknapp for Pienaar being injured most of the time while he was at Spuds!
He actually signed a 40 year old keeper on a free who has been excellent for them and the very keeper we got rid of being replaced by Given on how long a contract?
Yes i'm judging Lambert on one window because his signings have seen us drop into the relegation zone something which Mcleish couldn't achieve.
When Walker was sent to us on loan he had an immediate impact and you'll excuse me if i don't take your comparison with Bennet in particular too seriously.
No one knows after re-building the first team at Spuds and qualifying for the Champions League why he was let go. The situation at Portsmouth can not be blamed on Redknapp as he was given the money to spend and i seem to remember he did manage to win the F.A Cup with Portsmouth in 2008.
I simply don't know what was happing at board level at Southampton?
When was Walker brought and when was he sent to us !!Coz is sure as shit wasn't as soon as he came from a lower league club.
Pienaar injured or not Redknapp brought didnt work out and was sold back..it wasn't a successful transfer what ever way you want to pitch it.
Do I agree with Givens contract but it still only goes to the Age Fridel is now so long term it looked better option for continuity.Ultimately Spurs got Friedal and just spent £10mil or so on a keeper to replace him long term.Friedel was a short term solution for them we looked longer term.
He was let go from Spurs as long term they didn't seem him moving the club on..simples.As for Pompey he spent massively and won them the cup fair do's but it wasn't sustainable and look where they are now.So you don't know what was happening at Board level at Soton but it was obviously something because lord knows saint Harry couldn't possible of **** them up alone...
Hippo interested to know who PF wanted then if not PL.Surprises me because from what I have read PF likes PL and his plans.

Excuse me a minute but what the feck has length of contract got to do with Redknapp signing the above players. He signed them and most of them did very well. If **** Lambert had signed those players he'd have been hailed as the second coming on here.
Well you said they were brought cheaply so I just explained the mitigating circumstances ..plus using Pienaar as an example is redundant seeing as he rarely played under him went back to Everton and has been class for them.So if anything thats a black mark against him.
If Lambert signed a 40 year old keeper on a 2 year deal on high wages he most certainly wouldn't be looked at as the second coming. Also did he sign them players all in the same window ? No so your judging Lambert on one window against Redknapp on numerous windows.Your lauding Walker as a good buy yet how many years did he take to get in the first team ?How do you know in 3 years Bennet and Lowton won't be as highly regarded ?
Redknapp could come to us do an ok job but there's a reason Spurs got rid ,why he got Soton relegated and why Pompey they are still in the shit paying for players like Kanu he signed.

I admire the long term goal but with the results going the way they have ..a short term fix is now needed to a degree.
-
Some continuity in defence would help ..especially as LB which is causing us endless issues
Norwich - Bennet Sending off ..Cross for goal Lichaj not concentrating short corner
Fulham -Lichaj poor marking near post
Man U - Stephens played Hernadez onside 1st goal / poor marking 3rd Goal
-
Maybe the people calling for Redknapp should ask the Southampton fans about the great rescue job he did there ...
-
This squad is well capable to finishing mid-table and have shown at times their ability. Please remember that Guzan, Lowton, Vlarr, Stephens and Bennett together with Benteke and Westwood have had exactly how many Premiership starts between them? Add in Clark, Delph and KEA and that is hardly a lot of experience is it?
They need to play to learn unfortunately as we are not able to buy the finished product. PL is doing a good job imho with what he is able to spend,
I agree ..however if we can't buy we need to loan someone ..no point building for future then going down, that will set us back years.
-
Think you have misunderstood the Tottenham way of dealing with players: Redknapp provides a list of players he would like the club to get, and then he is not more involved. He has explained this several times when he is interviewed on deadline day.
The infamous ''Daniels dealing with it now '' window down comment
-
With Sunderland winning leaves us really in the shit,Reading win thier game in hand and we are already 2 points from safety.
Weekend has been a nightmare results wise
-
Think you will find Levy brought VDV.Friedal was out of contract with us ,Peinaar had 6 months on contract with Everton.Walker was brought with Naughton for 9 mil !
I'd go as far to say having someone as competent as Levy as CEO would help us immensley.

WBA and Norwich chose good managers and unfortunately we chose otherwise.
In hindsight maybe but at time neither of those 2 would have screamed out over Lambert.Head to head neither has beat us either.
For me the huge issue right now is the defence..4-3-3 with the players we have might score ..but it will concede is simply not enough protection for the defence.
-
Worried now
Problem is if Lambert doesn't turn it around where the **** do we go from here ..another manager again.
We had problems with the squad no doubt but dear god how are WBA and Norwich doing so much better than us I don't recall them spending alot in the window..
-
Yup looking like defence is not his strong point..
-
The difference between this season and last is we are trying to win games last season we were more defensive so got more draw's
I am worried by the defence ..maybe it's the injuries and chopping and changing but we are conceding too many and alot of the goals are down to poor defending
more than great play by the opposition. Also yet again we seem to be the worst side in the league at keeping the ball both points need addressing or we will go down.
QPR will sack Hughes and improve we need to pull away to safety quickly.
-
I'm as optimistic as the next guy but the table makes scary viewing.
FFS Norwich at 5 points from us ..Norwich who's manager we stole !!
-
Norwich winning ..**** me this weekend has been awful
-
38 games since city havent scored at home, isnt it something similar since they lost too?
not sure what people are expecting, we havent been brilliant but we havent been awful either and we have had a few chances, certainly not as poor as the last few league games up there
Haven't lost at home in the league for 2 years ..yeah shocking we are 1 down...

Nice positive story from The Sun
CHRISTIAN BENTEKE last night rocked Aston Villa by declaring his dream of playing for Arsenal.
The Belgium striker, 21, has been a hit at Villa since joining for £7million from Genk.
But the summer signing admits he sees the club as a stepping-stone to Arsene Wenger’s Gunners — and that he originally thought Villa were based in LONDON.
Benteke said: “Arsenal are the club I love. I like their philosophy of selecting young players and, besides, they had Thierry Henry.
“For me he is the best player in the world and was my boyhood idol.
“I’m not afraid of making enemies at Villa by saying I love Arsenal.
“One can say worse things. I’m a Villa player for now. They’re the right club at the right time.”
He added: “When I joined Villa I didn’t know where they played. I thought they were a London club!”

I still think Baker has looked the better player this season...
Baker is a better defender ,Clark the better footballer IMO.
-
Good player for me and will come back into the team at some point
The 4-3-3 will not work against all teams and we will need to hold the ball more in midfield. That's what KEA will do keep the ball and keep it simple letting the likes of Bannan and Ireland make the more eye catching passes.
-
80% was definately the rough figure that was mentioned a few years ago. I remember reading that our wage bill was higher than Spurs, amongst other sides (this was a Spurs side containing Van der Vaart, Modric etc etc)
Makes me shudder to think VDV was prob on less than Heskey !!
-
Latest is he should be back for December
-
Lambert today has said he has hurt ankle ..same one as kept him out for back end of last season so could be a long lay off.
