  1. The only thing that bothers me about Fowler is he might end up at Blues, and he has a history of scoring against us..
  2. I don't think he has been anywhere - ANYWHERE - near as bad as some people have made out. But he has work to do if he is going to be up to standard next season; and although he went some way to doing that once partnered with Barry, if he is to be replaced, so be it. That said, it should just be more about a case of competition, and no-one should be 'replaced' in my vision of Villa, unless they are leaving the club. What we need, IMO, is competition for places over the entire park, whether it be Petrov, Sorenson, Mellberg, Carew or even Captain Barry - no-one in the team should be in the comfort zone that too many of our payers have in recent years.
  3. I'd actually forgot about our Mark, bless him... :?
  4. We are. Samuel and Hendrie aren't having their contracts renewed. You can't just boot somebody if their contract still has time on it, which isn't the case with the five Newcastle players. Of course you can. Pay them and send them away...easy as that! We do have a few I would like to see MON practice that on. Just how many are you thinking of? Djemba-Djemba we will get a transfer fee for, Samuel & Hendrie aint been renewed... There isn't anyone in the squad other than that I'd like to get rid of. I'd sell a few, sure, but wouldn't just 'pay them off'.
  5. Pelle, I enjoyed that long post, maybe you should stick it on the front page The one thing I will say about SWP is - I think he IS good enough, because he has been playing consistently and seems to have his confidence back up. However, he has only played so much because Robben & Cole have had so many injury problems, Duff aint there anymore (I thought he was the best out of those 4, personally) & the new signings aint been great... Plus he has stopped hugging the security blanket of the right-wing. When his confidence is up he spends a lot more time in the middle, and because he is nippy & skillful with an excellent low sense of gravity (a bitch of a combination for opposing defenders) he is actually very effective there. Something Aaron Lennon should do more of, IMO. Therefore I firmly believe that the best move for SWP next season is to leave Chelsea and go somewhere that will give him first team football on a regular basis. Will he do that, and if he does will he come to us? I'd say probably not, although it's hardly unimaginable. But if we did get him, I think he'd be a cracking signing. I know many VT'ers are split on that, but my opinion has remained unchanged throughout - Shaun Wright-Phillips would be a star at Aston Villa. In my humble opinion, of course :winkold:
  6. You're a good man BOF. We're in quite a good place in a lot of those tables. If we improve appropriately, it bodes well for next term.
  7. Not a bad round-up. But I'd be horrified if we signed Jenas or Richardson. I wouldn't be too happy about Kewell, either.
  8. I can't speak for the whole area but I certainly know more Villa fans than any other (unclean ) kind.
  9. If you don't want to bother yourself with transfer rumours, speculation and suggestions then may I suggest that you avoid any threads with Transfer Rumours, Speculation & Suggestions in the title!! A bit of grammar would be nice too
  10. Suggestion for RB - Rosenior from Fulham? Not seen enough of him to have formed a proper opinion, but seems pretty good whenever I have watched him.
  11. No mate, I'm not a fan either. In fact, most of his best performances, IMO, have been against us! That's probably why a lot of Villa fans rate him Don't get me wrong, I aint saying he's RUBBISH, and I suppose he is on a free. But I believe we can do better, personally. Plus I'd be concerned he'd hinder the development of Cahill - and Ridge, if he stays.
  12. Yeah but at least there is the odd intelligent post in-between on here...
  13. I love that site. I mean... Well, they are all as good as signed aint they
  14. Jez, shut up! Anyway, apparently Owen is staying with the Barcodes. It'll be interesting to see what system he plays, cause I don't see Owen working in the 'Bolton' system... Could see him working with Carew though
  15. Even though I think the argentians was a one-off transfer, cheating as it was, I agree with your sentiments. Not much irritates me more than people who think they knows who is ungettable for us, cause no one here really knows. Indeed. I guess in the big scheme of things it might not matter, but maybe the influence of Bob Kain on board may help. Just a thought, like.
  16. Well my kitchen window's been open all day. Still? With the light on? Tut-tut. You'll have a moth in there before you know it.
  17. It's not over till it's over!!, your best mate Milner was at bodymore heath last summer and still never signed!!, to your despair of course!! , and it's not gone anywhere near that far yet, besides i'm more into the idea of Nasri or Fernandes now anyway!!. Ah bless. Yes, funny how it's disappointing when we don't sign one of the best young players in the prem and Barcodes player of the season. I think the is ust an alternative to the . To me fair some of the points that are made inbetween the emoticons aint all bad, it's just the patronising nonsense that gets most peoples goats. Anyway - I am still gutted we didn't sign Milner, but it's funny how things work out, I mean, maybe Ashley Young will turn out to be the better player. As for Viduka/Yakubu... I think Viduka could represent decent business on a free. As for Yakubu... I dunno, he comes across as too lazy to me. Decent scoring record though. Tell ya something, my first choice of Darren Bent would be ideal, but after that I really am torn over striker options! Maybe it will be someone not so obvious that aint in the Prem. I know that might not fit in with the traditional MO'N purchasing strategy, but then he aint ever had the resources he has now.
  18. Enjoyable, thanks. Nice to see Young doing so well. Would rather we had the appropriate capital letters in the title though, especially as this is on NewsNow :winkold:
  19. I think any more than 5 additions and they would be surprises! I personally believe we'll see about 4 or 5 new faces, but I would genuinely be surprised if much more than that come in.
  20. I've just heard a rumour that Defoe is booking in at a local hotel for the night...
