  1. He was into 5/1 about an hour ago on betfair but thankfully on the drift again. Only takes one decent size bet to move him in to that. Also i'd like Poyet too but he is on a long contract. 2million to buy it out so not sure RL will pay that to land him.

  3. I read this morning somewhere and i can't mind were that AVB was being linked to them. Thought it strange as they had 'ur Harry' here probably No wasn’t there but anyway i hope he doesn’t come either. He bankrupts nearly every club he is at. Think RL knows his stuff when it comes to finance so he won’t touch him with a barge pole.

  5. Anyone know anything about Harry Redknapp talking to villa? Second favourite in Betfair now. That would be a way of getting the wage bill up again.
  6. So is that your criteria for a manager? Somebody who is going to keep Villa up for the next 3 years. I'm going to assume you're not stupid enough to compare the abilities of Wigan to stay in the league with the abilities of Villa to stay in the league. Or to put it another way, Martinez has performed minor miracles at Wigan. If he can keep them up for 3 years with their resources, imagine what he could do at a club that is set up to be an ever-present Premier League side. So yes, someone who can keep WIGAN in the PL for 3 years is the kind of manager who should be looked at. Liverpool certainly seem to think so too and I'm going to hazard a guess that their ambition isn't only to stay in the Premier League for the next 3 years either. As I will no doubt have to repeat between now and us hiring a manager, Rafa has been a complete and utter disaster since he fell out with his number 2. You can pinpoint the downturn in his results to the point where he fell out with Pako Ayseteran. So there's no way I want that spent damaged POS near the club. I see you subscribe to the "let's wait until they're out of our reach before we go for them" school of management-hiring. If you can't see that Lambert is going to be the real deal at this point in time then there's not much I can say to help you. Let's agree to disagree and move on to something else. There is a difference between managing a team to keep them up and managing a team to push them on to the next level. If we have any ambition we should be hiring a proven manager who has done this in the past. I reiterate Martinez/Lambert might be able to do it but they haven’t done it yet. But I as you say we will have to just agree to disagree.
  7. So is that your criteria for a manager? Somebody who is going to keep Villa up for the next 3 years. We are/should be a top 5 club thats why i think we need a manager like Raffa who has managed at that level. Both Lambert and Martinez arent proven at that level. They might turn out to be able to manage at that level but why should Villa take the chance. We deserve somebody who is proven already.
  8. I agree, Raffa for me as well or my one man personal crusade of Martin Jol which will never happen. Martinez is flavor of the month. I wonder how many Villa fans would have wanted him in Feb.
  9. Its a holiday in the states today so nobody is working. He could be coming back a day early because of that.
  10. When you put it like this how does Villa need RL to bail them out 2 years in a row to a cost of 20 - 40 million each year? The squad is thread bare and we sold all the family Silverware which got money back in. Also we are 19th in the world club league table released last week. How are we loosing so much money ... cant be high wages as we only have 8 real first team players from above. gate receipts have plummeted. Its wags from the last few years I think you will find. Players have sucked all the money from the club and accomplished nothing...but like idiots we give them long term contracts just to secure the so called "top players" :x We need to change the whole way we do buissness why buy a shit so called proven premiership players like Hutton when you can have 3 talented hungry lower league players and pay them 10k a week. So we dont owe RL anything, he let this all happen. Def right about hutton and 3 lower league players. Conference league players wouldnt demand 10k a week but

  13. Should have moved for him last summer. Decent manager - can't see why he would move again though ! With the right money to spend and good youth setup he might. Depends on his ambitions i suppose. I would love to see him here. We would have a good home record again thats for sure.
  14. What does anyone think of Martin Jol? Plays very good football with Fulham and would return the flair to Villa. I know he doesnt fit into the age bracket but with the other names been thrown about i think we could do somewhat worse.
  15. Some one like Graeme Souness for example? Be way left field but nothing pleasant about it. Hopefully not someone like Graeme Souness. That wouldn't be a pleasant surprise now, would it? Would be a nightmare, at least he would sort out the discipline problems.

  17. Don't think it says anything about the money being made available. Think they are looking for something new and different to add to the table. At this moment in time we have no idea how much money will be avialable As i always say 'Its different for a reason' and 99% of the time its not good.
  18. Rubin Dutt was apparently interviewed on Thurday or Friday. A Jurgen Klinsman recomendation by all accounts. We are not being linked to any big names. Says allot about the money being made available by RL.
  19. If RL is seriously considering RDM over all the other plausible candidates he deserves torture. I'd take Gregory over RDM, no contest. I don't quite get all the negativity towards RDM. He's only 41 and just won an FA Cup and the Champions League. At West Brom he had a very good first season, getting promoted to the Premier League, followed by a good start to his second season (winning Manager of the Month for September). He then hit a difficult patch, which will be expected with any young manager (see AVB for example) and was harshly fired. He made some good signings for West Brom such as Odemwingie with the kudos of just having won the Champions League should be able to hire some. All this was playing attacking passing football, contrary to the myth that seems to appeared about him playing negative football (from people who have only watched the Barcelona and Bayern matches). He certainly wasn't playing defensive football when beating Napoli 4-1 or beating QPR 6-1. Is he really that much of worse appointment than Poyet or indeed OGS. Given time he could turn out to be an excellent manager. Harsly fired, you serious? Ask any West Brom fan what they think of him and you will see.
  20. If rather take joesph venglos back than make RDM manager. Dont think RL would be that stupid regards appointing a manager. hmmm actually i do think he would be
  21. This is a thread for doom and despair. Your post has no place here 267 zillion pages and nobody's picked that one up. Good work. Maybe while we're tearing our hair out, AVB is quietly contacting the players he plans to sign for Aston Villa on the 24th of June. Probably not, but hey! Good post. A long shot but you never know
  22. I'm not having a go, but who were they talking to this week?
  23. Liverpool and Henry are notorious for being quiet on deals they are making yet they tell the fans who they are talking to and when they plan to do it. Why does RL tell the fans nothing about the management process??? Is it because they are talking to nobody??? I reckon thats why. The only statement they said is they arent waiting on Liverpool to pick their manager. Why tell us that??? Is it because they have nothing else to tell us is my guess and that was a strange thing to tell us in the first place. Trying to fool the fans into thinking they are doing something. Sure he is even away back to the states until Tuesday. I hope i am proved wrong but the lack of info they provide to fans who are the foundations of the club makes me sick.
  24. Which means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I will tell you how the bookies sh"f everyone in Management betting... OGS is into 18/1 tonight from 45/1 this afternoon on betfair even though he couldnt have made it any clearer that he was staying in Norwary.
  25. He turned a profit yet the net outflow was £13m a year? I'm going to hazard a guess that you're not an accountant? He's ex Lehman Bros Benitez conned Villa out of 5million for Warnock. If RL tells him he can have all the money he makes on selling players at Villa we could be winning CL next season. He’s bound to be able to get 30-35 million from team for Dunne or Collins based on that. How? did they get a chunk of the fee we paid for him then? No he should have kept him at liverpool and stopped selling dodgy goods.
