I know we think that Sanson is a figment of our imaginations because he's rarely seen, but bit harsh to leave him out of the ratings !

Konsa carrying the ball up the field and almost playing as a striker. Absolute banter football!
You love to see it!

One of the most impressive things in that win, was how we saw out the game with a minimum of fuss. No squeaky bum time. Just pure uncomplicated, ice cold professionalism. What a change in mentality!
Unreal!

Ref/VAR is corrupt!

It feels like Buendia is trying a bit too hard to force things. He's still picking up very good positions and hassling them when we don't have the ball, but Unai might need to put an arm around him and tell him to calm down and keep things a bit simpler.

What a fantastic announcement to wake up to!

I must've missed this but how come Luiz is playing? Didn't he have a red card suspension?

Absolutely unbelievable!

The footballing gods are surely making the call tonight.

Neil said this on the last episode of the "For the Love of Paul McGrath" podcast which I reckon is probably true. The club are gonna keep Gerard in the job till they can nail down the new manager. The longer they leave the gap between firing Gerard and hiring the new guy, the longer the club will be crucified for "not giving Gerard more time" by all his mates in the media. If they can shorten that gap as much as possible, the focus will be on the new guy.
As much as we don't care about that, perception definitely matters to the club.

Brilliant from Daly.

First game for the women underway. Playing well against Man City. Well taken goal from Lehmann has us 1-0 up.

Not for me. Dont get me wrong he is a great manager and would be the perfect man for the job in every way but one.
See my wife fancies him and when he was at Man City always asked "is the good looking manager on today?" Then would park herself on the couch and comment on how good looking he was and compare his grooming to mine and how I could learn a thing or two from him. Something about his Italian style and salt & pepper looks.
I really cant handle her getting moist every time he comes on camera if he became our manager.
We all need to make sacrifices for the benefit of the club.

Thanks for everything Anwar. A top class professional, always humble and contributed to some of the most important moments in recent Villa history.
Absolute class act. All the best!

Ah, the more you know!
Tbh I'd have had most American outlets as obscure also, I more meant because pressure from the press can push a club to react but it's easier to ignore from non-mainstream British Press.
A good article though, and props to them for investing in genuine opinion, would be easier to just pay a fee to a 'name' for an uneducated opinion
Definitely agree it's a well written article though.
Particularly enjoyed this bit describing the current malaise:
Quote"Watching Villa this season is football as conceptual art; a hypnotic study of football without football, stripped of its essential core. The ball is carried into the penalty box but the audience has no memory of how it got there. They move with an uncanny resemblance of a football team on the attack yet there’s an eerie sense no highlight, no action, could ever be created. In this piece, the viewer is invited to ponder the illusory construct of reality and the mass hallucination of sport as existential relief.
It is difficult to discuss Villa’s aimlessness under Gerrard without resorting to sarcasm because it can be hard to pin down, with data or tactical analysis, exactly what is wrong with something that turns to dust on contact. But pause any footage of a Villa game this season and witness a team shape of maddening proportions, a cross or a star as likely as a triangle or square."
The article is more interesting than our football!
