  1. 100k a week to a player with one good season under his belt, no wonder the game has gone barmy. I'd offer 50k and if he proves himself again next year then talk about 100k or there abouts.

I would offer him the same wage rise as Westwood, Guzan and the others received based on last season.

  2.

I'm beginning to think Belgian Guy has been tapped up and wants to hand in a transfer request to support a better team.

    seriously? wow...

    Be honest.... :P

don't u think its a alot of effort to come here on a english forum as a foreign language speeker to support tis club? you can't expect me to stop caring about christian. if i wouldnt support aston villa i would already be off trust me ;)

We will see if you stick around WHEN Benteke leaves the club.... ;)

  3. tbh if u look at the facts at tottenham

he would there be the 1st striker (since defoe and aby are going away)

he would play with at least 2 national teamplayers(possibly 3)

he would get a reasonable salary that fits his worth

he would play in europe  league

he would be in his favourite league

tbh it would be a pretty logical step

Good for Benteke not Aston Villa.

  4. Oh his day unplayable but that day wasn't there all the time.

I think there's a fair bit of romanticising about Benteke and don't get me wrong, i think he's great. However, if you actually break down his goal tally to tap ins and penalties, he didn't make such a huge contribution as people are stating and I feel like we're unfairly underrated our other players and their importance.

I'm expected to get torn apart for this, but I think he's slightly overrated by us lot because of select games in the last few months. He was anonymous for a few of the games in that run in as well. Even Sunderland he didn't really wake up in until the 2nd half when he had a tap in and a scuffed shot that Mignolet made an absolute hash off.

    (please don't hurt me)

This is a fair opinion. We will cope without Benteke next season and be equally excited with his replacement.

  5. What world do you live in where a situation never changes? We only have ten days to wait though so let's see

Also a person doesn't bode well, a situation does - being a gentleman surely you should know that? What are they teaching you kids in school these days

    You miss the point,

The point being, why bother exerting energy in typing I KNOW, through my extensive and reliable sources (not opinion but fact), that there is no money to spend but that MAY CHANGE.

For instance, "Look at the snow chaps, the match against Newcastle will be postponed. However the weather may change by next week so it may go ahead"

    Surely a pointless statement.

  6. We bossed the Swansea game. Brilliant. Could have been 5-0 after 25 minutes...And not to us. Chelsea got lucky scoring 8 goals past us? I think you'll find we got lucky not conceding 15 goals that day. Got dominated at home from start to finish against Spurs and very rarely even got out of our own half....Spurs having around 12 corners in the first 35 minutes. Wigan was absolutely shocking and no excuses for that dreadful display. Wow.

  7. Just to change the subject slightly.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if a club came in for Bent within the last five days of the window with a very low bid of say 6m. What would any club have to lose? Media is reporting that the manager wants to sign players but hasn't got the finances to do it.

Question is would we sell at that price and would Lambert be given the proceeds to strengthen as he sees fit?

So we could get 1 Mou Mou Sissoko and half of coutinho (hopefully the bottom half, the gent hears he ain't to dandy with his napper). In all seriousness, wages would be the issue, in essence a straight swap for Sissoko for Bent.

    Would you take it?

  8. I don't know how, but HH is close to PL and I believe what he is saying.

What I do know is that

    - PL was lead to believe he could bring in 2 or 3 "decent" players during the window who would be first-teamers

    - He gave a list of names to PF

    - PF enquired about a few (Sissoko is the only name I heard and he wanted silly money)

    - Yesterday PL then was told that the funds would not be forthcoming for those 2 or 3 players

Could things change during the next 10 days - you can decide that for yourself

    In other words

"We wont be signing any decent players this transfer window, but that may change and we might sign some decent players"

You would bode well in the house of commons, my friend.

  9. I could understand your comment if ITKs were coming on saying we were signing Wayne Rooney or Lionel Messi but what is your problem with ITKs saying that we will not be making any big money signings and then the Evening Mail and Paul Lambert confirm that a few hours later

HH's ITK's have been spot on so far

In all honesty HH has been a perpetual motion of there is no money, but RL may change his mind, in which case, they may be money to spend. Surely the outcome of such statements is of importance, come the close of the transfer window. Being two; "No money spent" or "Money spent". Therefore there is 100% certainty that they will either be players brought in or there will be no players brought in. Either way HH will say well "I told you so, I am ITK, bow before me".

He may well be ITK, but what is the point of giving such information "there is no money but there might be some if RL changes his mind". The outcome is the same (money spent or no money spent).

This is known to all, privy to information or not.

Furthermore, to not only give the information but to argue and debate, round and round, of the information being correct, when as previously stated the outcome of his information will be a 100% certainty.

For that reason, The Gent is out

  10. Let's be wary here. This may work in our favour but it may not. I remember when RDM was sacked from West Brom everyone was saying what a ridiculous decision was but it ended up being good for them in the long run.

I accept this is different but just beware that this might not mean automatically implosion for Southampton, although I obviously hope that does happen.

"The Benny Hinn award for religion really paying off: Goes to Espanyol and their coach Mauricio Pochettino. With 10 weeks left, Espanyol were bottom on 22 points, eight from safety, having won four times all season. It was going to take a miracle for them to survive, so Pochettino asked for one. He hiked 12km to Montserrat, pleaded with the Virgin to save his team and, lo!, she did. Ten games and eight wins later, Espanyol finished 10th."
