  1. PL bought 7 players for £18m and MON bought 2 for £22m, so for me not comparable

That is exactly the point Cas.

Some on here are advocating the MON way, but look where Sunderland are. We are choosing a different path but find ourself in the same position as Sunderland.

The real question is which team kicks on in the second half. I think Villa will, thereby vindicating the transfer strategy of PL, but only time will tell.

  2. What hypocrisy? The two clubs are in completely different situations and they've been in their respective jobs for different periods of time. Further more I never said Lambert was doing a good job results wise. He clearly isn't.

Ah yes that's right, I forgot it was hypocritical to judge managers on a case by case basis.

Sunderland were in an awful position before MON took over - 18th I believe - and he really has had only one transfer window to right the ship. Not much different to me,.

The comparison that could be made is in transfer strategy. Sunderland and Villa spent about the same amount of money, but Sunderland bought all "proven" premier league talent - Johnson, Saha, Fletcher - while we purchased young. We are in about the same position, but I feel our team is improving while theirs is stagnate at best.

Interested what you think of that Morpheus.

  3. And yet they've been shit for the better part of this year. O'Neill really isn't that good.

Can't argue O'Neill is shit because of Sunderland's current position but Lambert is doing a good job.

I think Lambert is doing the right thing so I am certainly not slagging him, but that statement is hypocritical IMO.

  4. You just want some honesty from the club

No I don't. If they want him to leave, I want them to say he is absolutely not going anywhere in order to drive up the price. If we freeze him out and say we are certainly selling him, we would be lucky to get 8 million back for him.

  5. Adam is playing well for Stoke and in their first team and i have referred to Adam in comparison to KEA who can't even get into our midfield such as it is at the moment. So your point was?

That he did say you inferred that was the player you like. Try to keep up.

  6. From the Mirror article in relation to this:

Maybe he did something we don't know about.

Hold on. People pontificating on a football forum might not know the whole story? You go too far sir.

  7. Oh you know exactly what you've tried to do even without me having to point it out. Since you won't stop replying to my posts even after asking you twice now i'm going to engage the 'ignore button' and engage with posters who don't doctor their posts to suit their debate.

Just a quick observation. You could stop replying........

  8. I enjoyed AC3 well enough. It certainly was not AC2, but that was one of the best games I have ever played. It is like comparing New Vegas to Fallout 3.

I will say if I had bought the game instead of getting it through gamefly, I might have been a bit more disappointed. Now I am starting Halo 4 and Dishonored. God bless gamefly.

For football games, I have always like the NCAA series better than Madden. It has faster gameplay and is more like real football IMO.

  9. I'd like some indication he's not just happy being a mediocre nothing club.

I'd like consistent spending at a sensible level in line with a long term plan.

I was never happy being a nothing club under Doug so I'm certainly not going to be happy being a nothing club under Lerner. Not sure why others are now.

These are things he is capable of doing and he certainly has a chance to change the way he's run the club so far.

He's been nothing short of abysmal so far but with lambert he has a chance to redeem himself.

Oh. You mean like he has been doing and shows signs of continuing to do ever since the Lambert appointment?

And if he has a chance now to do the "right things", and I would argue ha show signs of taking the approach you have outlined, then why don't you lay off it for a month or so until we see what January brings?

  10. If we extrapolate Lambert's start to the rest of the season over the remaining games, we'll finish on 28 or 29 points. But don't worry, we're steadily improving apparently.

If you extrapolate our start last year we finished with 52 points in 8th place. Remind me again how that worked out?

  11. We need a new midfield. Simple as that.

I have been saying for two years as everyone else bangs on about our defense and our strikers not being good enough that the reason they appear not good enough is we have a piss poor midfield.

A midfield that can hold the ball and break up play suddenly takes pressure off the defense. If the defense is not constantly under pressure, suddenly those "Sunday league" mistakes disappear.

A midfield that can get forward, play through defenders, and make incisive passes suddenly makes goalscorers more potent. If goalscorers know they are going to get more than 1-2 real chances a game, suddenly they relax and stop missing fairly easy opportunities.

My real problem with Lambert's spending was he did not address the midfield. KEA looks like a Makounesque signing - not going to slight Lambert for this. Everyone gets them wrong from time to time - and Westwood was a signing for the future we have been forced to play now, even though he has played well.

I think we need 4 signings in January with at least 3 of them in the middle of the park. I hope Lambert does too.

  12. Yes because that experience served us well in 10/11 and 11/12 at holding onto leads.

Don't understand why you bother. George Carlin said it best. Think of how stupid the average guy you know is then realize half the world is even dumber than that. If you spend your life trying to reason with unreasonable people you will give yourself an aneurism.

As for City. We were losing that game for sure, but it was not a 5-0 thumping. We are young and do not contain our emotions well when faced with adversity. That will improve. Our squad will also improve in January. We will be comfortably 10-14 by the time May rolls around.

Let the moaners have their doom party. They probably will not have many more chances to throw one the rest of the year.

  13. We are on course to bag 31 points this season unless we see a dramatic improvement.

If Reading win today and we lose we go into the drop zone.

Am I concerned. Yes. Yes i am.

This time last year we were on pace for 51 points. Remind me how that worked out again?

The difference between this year and last is we looked completely shit getting 15 points through 11 games last year and we have looked decent and really good at times getting 9 points from 11. If we continue to look decent to pretty good on a week to week basis, the points will come.

  14. I think it was a hack job, but it does raise an interesting discussion. It occurrs to me that a lot of sports fans get attached to the players playing for the club sometimes even more than they are attached to the club itself. I have never understood that.

I view my sports teams as companies I have invested in. In a regular company, I invest money in the hopes the employees of that company can increase the value of my shares, but I do not give two shits about the employees themselves.

I treat villa the same way. I have invested emotional value into this sports team, and I am hoping I am payed back plus interest. The employees of the club are simply cogs in the machine. You lose one cog, you replace it with another and hopefully make a bit of profit off the transaction so you can improve the machine somewhere else.

I would not care if they had no names on their jerseys and wore masks. They are not important. The club is, and the club will be here is Big Benteke is here or not.

  15. It is amazing to me that you guys let Morpheus get you so riled up. You do not want him posting anymore? Block him and stop responding to him. If everyone did, it would be like he did not exist on this board.

The fact that you all continually engage him means you get something out of it, so stop acting like you don't.

  16. At the risk of getting another "warning", what happened to the streams links yday?

Made an enquiry on the match thread, i know it says no mention, but where else was i supposed get as an immediate response as possible?

Has the site been "threatened" by copyright laws?

It was on FSC in America and I assume it was broadcast on Sky over there, so no one really needed the streams I guess.

  17. Tbf it's not just against the Villa. They're a top team who never know when they're beaten, and regularly make comebacks to win games. We needed a lucky day like Spuds had at Old Trafford a few weeks ago, but sadly we didn't have it yesterday.

United has been down in 7 games this season. They have won 5 of them. It is what they do.
